In a society where women aren't given a voice, their dreams limited to hoping for an amicable arranged marriage, maintaining a household and bearing and raising children, Sapere finds herself in uncharted territory when she discovers she's inherited her family's gift. The gifts in this novel remind me somewhat of the different tribes in Veronica Rossi's Under the Never Sky, as certain senses (hearing, sight, etc.) are enhanced.

Initially, Sapere hides her abilities, but when the situa

Plodding and repetitivr

I'm so sad to say this because the storyline had such potential but the author dragged out the story much longer than necessary and the story had a very "tell" not show feel. The characters did not have much depth peppered with sudden bouts of insight that were more preachy than anything else. Then the author ends the story halfway through with the promise of book 2. I'm so tired of serial novels disguised as series. I won't be reading this any further.

*I was provided a copy of The Sapphire Legend by the author in exchange for an honest review. I am not compensated for my honest opinion.*

Sapere knows she’s different from everyone else in her tribe when she realizes she’s inherited her father’s gifts—gifts only a son is supposed to inherit. When her tribe is attacked on her wedding day, her gifts are put to the test as she tries to save as many people as she can. But leading them into the Wild is a/>*I

The Sapphire Legend, Part I
By E.L. Tennenbaum
A review by Suraya Dewing
Although I am not a fantasy reader, and I approached this with that prejudice, I soon changed my mind. Within the first five pages realised that the elements of good storytelling can belong to any genre….that is strong characterisation, good pace, tension (rising and falling) and description. The Sapphire Legend had me wanting to get back to it whenever other priorities called me away and this is what caused

Sapere lives with the third tribe of the Oro tribes, which lives next to the Wild. The Wild
is a forested area in which dangerous creatures lurk behind dark shadows. But the Wild is the
only place that Sapere feels at home. It’s because of her secret, a gift that she’s had since she
was twelve, but this gift is only supposed to be inherited by men. Her tribe is made of families
that possess the abilities of animals.

This is so far outside my norm that when I saw the blurb I really didn’t even know if I wanted to start the book and sat on it for a few days. But sometimes you have to step outside the box and in this case I am glad that I did because I have to say that I really enjoyed it.

The book held nothing back, the story took shape almost immediately and was full on.

Sapere’s tribe are gathered to celebrate her wedding day but things are about to veer off plan when the tribe are att

*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

I must mention that I read this entire book in one setting. I absolutely, positively, without a doubt, loved the story line! It was incredible! It’s one of those stories that grabs you immediately and keeps its claws into you, even once you’ve finished the story. It doesn’t end in a cliff hanger pe

What an amazing read! The Sapphire Legend hits the ground running. It grabbed my attention from page 1 and held it the whole way through. E. L. Tenenbaum’s debut book is a definite winner. I just love her writing style. I found the story to be seamless and alluring. She really brought this world to life for me. What an adventure with action, loss, discovery and a little love mixed in. The charters are unlike any others I have encountered. They are not shifters or hybrids but they have some featu ...more

“Kindness can make us weak, but it can also give us the strength to face another day.” (Kindle Location 3145).

In Sapere’s tribe, some families are gifted with supernatural abilities that pass from father to son. Sapere, a girl about to be married, has never told anybody that she inherited her father’s gift. On the day of her wedding, the tribe is attacked and she must use her abilities to help the survivors find refuge in the wild forest that borders her village. The Wild harbors its

This book grabbed me from the very beginning and kept me hooked all the way through. I became attached to Sapere and enjoyed watching her grow as a woman and as a person. I love the gifts that are passed down from generation to generation and only passed to the men in the family. It makes Sapere even more unique.

After the massacre on Sapere's village, she leads some weary survivors to the water and helps to keep them alive. When some of the men show up, they try to continue living their old way

**I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an HONEST review**

This is the second book this year to go on my favorites list! I was so wrapped up in needing to know what happened next to Sapere, that I had my Kindle read it to me when I had to fix meals and was doing my daily chores! Gripping tale, and very well told! I love that there's a strong thread of a young woman coming into her own in a world where women don't really HAVE an "own" to come into, and the paranormal and myst
