Let s Study Hebrews is the fifth volume in the New Testament series of solid, Reformed Bible study guides. Different authors are participating in the production of this series to bring together some of the best hearts and minds available to help understand what the Bible means by what it says. The series aim is exposition of Scripture, written in the language of a friend, seated alongside you with an open Bible.
This was such a helpful, easy to understand commentary to use alongside my sudy of Hebrews. It brought up things I hadn't noticed and offered clarity on some things that were a little disconnected in my brain. I used this with a group and didn't realize there were study questions in the back until I finished the book 🙃 now YOU know!
Solid content, which is certainly the most important factor, especially when dealing with a study of Scripture. However, the writing style was dry at times and (perhaps as a function of size limitations) often felt jilted.
This was a fine overview of Hebrews. I was a bit disappointed with it, having read Sinclair Ferguson’s study of Philippians in the same series. Jones’ study was much harder to follow, but still offered fine insight.
Good content, but writing style was really terminal and hard to follow. Also a lot of stuff about big ideas without as much heart as I feel like would represent Hebrews.
