Generally, I don't do fairytale retellings. I always feel that no matter how 'twisted' they are, I've heard the story too many times before.
However, without a doubt, HOURGLASS is a shining exception. The connections to Peter Pan were clever, and I absolutely loved how it was told from the POV of a female, teenage Hook. The writing was beautiful with some fantastic one liners ("I gave you immortality, and you went searching for a reason to die"...,) and Jude was a great heroine. She was a tough,

A great fun sci-fi read! Pauline C. Harris is an AMAZING AUTHOR. I will be putting up a review soon on my youtube.

This book reminded me of Tiger Lily and These Broken Stars combined so I definitely recommend it to people that like these reads (and Peter Pan)

Missing her father and eager to return to outer space where she feels most at peace, she quickly assembles a small crew of teenagers to man the ship and help raid the atmosphere for abandoned spa ...more

“A planet isn’t big enough for me. I need space and stars and nothing for light-years around.” (Kindle Locations 312-313).
“You know, it’s a shame. Growing up. I bet you regret it now.” (Kindle Location 1632).

Jude “Judy” Sprocket hates planets. She has to get off Earth. When her dad dies and wills her his ship “Hourglass” she decides to take it and get out of there. There is only one problem. She’s only 17 and without an adult present cannot legally take off. Her crew is full of underage and exci

So because I loved Puppet so much Pauline sent me another one of her books, Hourglass. This is a Young Adult, science fiction, retelling of Peter Pan! (SO COOL.)
This book follows a girl, Jude, who was rescued from a mysterious planet after her hand had just been cut off. (CRAZY!) She grows up on a spaceship named Hourglass. Her family are pirates, which means they find old spaceships in space and take their parts and sell them. (Illegally.) After her dad dies she inherits the spaceship, Hourgla
