When do you admit a holiday fling is so much more?

Kayla's always been scared to push her boundaries and take a risk. But it turns out all she needed was a scumbag ex-boyfriend to send her running to Hawaii, hoping to pull the shattered pieces of her heart back together while sunning herself on a white sand beach.

What she hadn't planned on was falling for someone new. Esp

What better way to sooth your soul after a break up than to take a relaxing vacation in the sun and surf of beautiful Hawaii? That is exactly what Kayla had planned, to get away and maybe have a brief vacation fling, let her inner wild child out to play? It isn’t like she will ever see these people again, right? Who knew that, once again, a man would turn her world head over heels with his carefree attitude and zest for living? It probably doesn’t hurt that along with that powerful personality, ...more

Kayla is taking her first ever vacation, she's setting out on her own to Hawaii after a break-up with her long term boyfriend. She plans to tour, catch some sun, and enjoy the alone time, all while avoiding the overzealous honeymooners. Fate has other plans, when tour guide Jay takes a seat next to her on the bus for some light banter neither expected the draw they had for one another. Kayla is going on an adventure. After her boyfriend of four years cheats on her she decides to take herself off on holiday to Hawaii. She expects to go sight-seeing, work on her tan on one of the white sandy beaches and maybe even pet a turtle (not a euphemism). What she doesn’t expect is to meet Jay. I didn’t expect Jay either, because holy hot turtle petting (euphemism). Jay works as a tour guide while studying to become a marine biologist, but decides to take a week off to play personal tour ...more

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

This book really surprised me, I thought it was going to be an ok book, but I wasn't expecting to like it this much. This books is a light fun reading, perfect for a beach day, for the weekend or those days when you're not having such a good time. At least it was to me. I have one complaint though, ok, maybe two and I must WARN you...
1. It's short and it leaves you wanting more, because there's some cliffhanger, which was awesome

A little Hawaiian getaway sounds blissful, when you add in a hot your guide turned lover I was super excited to dive into paradise.

Kayla attempts to escape her last breakup with a tropical trip. She immediately meets her tour guide, sparks fly, puns are had and a relationship...or something...blossoms. On the whole, the concept of this book is good and the story was fairly enjoyable. I'm a sucker for puns and I thoroughly enjoyed each of those bantering scenes.

However, the characters seemed a b

First off, the cover is gorgeous! This is a quick and easy read, less than 100 pages, the story of when tourist Kayla meets tour guide Jay on the island of Oahu. New Zealander Kayla is on a holiday in Hawaii following a devastating breakup and when Jay is obviously interested in her, they agree to spend the rest of her holiday together. Although it seems that this will just be a short-term fling, and the ending was a little abrupt, it is, after all, a romance, and I want to see what the next ins ...more

3 3/4 "Holiday Loving" Stars!

Very light easy breezy read. Low drama low angst. Jay and Kayla are both very sweet and charming. They have a perfect holiday romance... Until real feelings come into play. What will they do when it's time for Kayla to go home? I don't know... On to book 2.

The book ends quite abruptly so be prepared with book two Hawaiian Healing. One thing for sure is this book made me want to go to Hawaii with my sweetie!! Happy reading!

I rate this book 3.5/5.

Kayla holidays solo to fulfil her ambition of embracing life after her break up with her long term boyfriend. Little did she know she'd fall into the arms of a handsome tour guide.

This is my type of romance read: blossoming romance, steamy scenes, and characters to root for. Both Kayla and Jay are relatable, and as the fling turns into something more, you can't shake that pang in your chest for the moment the holiday is over. I was a little apprehensive to reach the conclu

This was an easy, steamy read until the end. Hawaiian Heartbreak is aptly named as what starts off as a summer fling, ends with one devastating disagreement and a cliffhanger leaving the readers groaning. Need an easy, beach side read? Take a gander at this, you'll enjoy the ride. But be warned, it's quite bumpy. ...more

I have been trying to figure out what I wanted to say about this novella, at time that I am writing this I have still not rated it yet. Of that will be done before it is posted, but I am still at odds about what I want to do.

Anyway, there were an equal amount of things that I loved and disliked about the story/characters.

What's it all about:
Do you know the best part of Hawaii? Getting away from the life that you thought was so perfect and then the man you were with for four years cheats on you. That is exactly what Kayla decided to do. This novel is not a standalone. It has a cliffhanger ending and Libby Cole is busy writing the second book. Also, as a side note, I was born and raised in Hawaii, on Oahu, so I have a special relationship to this book. Some of my comments come from being from Hawaii, so you’ll have to excuse my biased reaction. Coincidentally enough, as I write this review a commercial for Hawaii came on the television.

4.5 / 5 stars

This is the debut effort of Libby Cole, and it's the beginning of a three-part serial (while it's marketed as a trilogy, this particular part was less than 100 pages long, making it novella length which in turn puts the series to a serial length -- at least in my understanding/opinion).

I do think it's important to remember that this is only 33% of the story of Kayla and Jay. I think it's also important to reme

I loved this first instalment of the Hawaiian Heartbreak Trilogy. Fun, flirty and fiery, it fits the bill for the perfect afternoon read.

Libby Cole did a brilliant job at setting the scene for this story. I’ve never been to Hawaii myself, but reading Kayla’s story, I felt like I was there, experiencing all the new things she was seeing, and falling in lust with the sexy tour guide like she was. I loved the scenes when she was exploring the island with Jay, as we see some serious issues being dis

On her first day there she goes on a tour, where she meets Jay who is the tour guide. He offers to show her around the island. They start to fall for each other and Kayla struggles with trying to keep things casual while also dealing with her heartbreak from the relationship she just ended.

I enjoyed this story, it appears to be one story spread out in a trilogy of books, so each part is quite short (less than 100 pages). In part one we meet Kayla and Jay. Kayla is on vacation trying to get over a recent break up. Jay is a local tour guide that went to Hawaii and just never left.

The build up of their relationship flows nicely. It’s not “Hi I’m Kayla. Hi I’m Jay. Let’s get naked”. We get to see the sites through Kayla’s eyes, and Libby did a nice job of detailing them for us. I’ve n

This story involves the beautiful setting of Hawaii and Kayla and Jay. Kayla has gone to Hawaii to lick her wounds after her ex-boyfriend of four years, Danny, has cheated on her. One of my favorites lines from the book was "He doesn't get to rent a space in your head and come along for free."~Kayla

Upon her arrival to Hawaii, she meets a tour guide named Jay, and a hot passionate affair ensues between them. Kayla and Jay have such an o

However, the characters seemed a bit immature and even the writing seemed to lack sometimes. The sex scenes were okay, but not as greatly written as they could be and I’m not entirely sure but I guess there could be a pregnancy thing in the next volume? I’m not trying to give stuff

I don't always accept novels offered to me, but Hawaiian Heartbreak's blurb sounded really interesting. It didn't disappoint.

This book isn't too heavy, riddled with depressing backstory to keep it carrying on, but is actually very lightweight. The interaction between Kayla and Jay is hilarious, and they are constantly joking with each other. I imagine the author having quite a sense of humor.

Strange are the ways of the Human Heart. It prepares to get hurt even before it heals completely. Libby Cole's Hawaiian Heartbreak is a story which aptly brings out this facet of the heart.

Kayla takes a break to heal her broken heart in the land of lovers - Hawaii. Little does she know that she is unwittingly heading for yet another heartbreak, thanks to her rendezvous with Jay. What seems initially fun, later turns out to be the creator of misunderstandings between the two.

It's a short, refreshingly fun read, perfect for reading during a trip. Features a rare breed- the nice guy! One you do not find in steamy romances where selfish, mean, rugged, ego-centric bad boys are the staple. And is this book steamy, phew! I want me a Jay! And Hawaii is on my bucket list now.

I would like to add that this is the author's debut story so I have made some concessions about how I feel about it. For example, the plot is very straight forward and simple, too simple in my opinion,

Kayla is just starting to get over a difficult break-up. She decides to go on a dream vacation to Hawaii. Kayla didn’t expect to have a holiday romance, but the attraction between her and her tour guide, Jay, is undeniable. Will they be able to keep their relationship fun and commitment free, knowing Kayla will be leaving in just a few days?

Hawaiian Heartbreak is a steamy romance, the first in a trilogy. The relationship between Kayla and Jay is amazingly fun and cute. I really enjoy
