This, the first coloring book from VOGUE, has been created by award-winning writer, fashion editor, curator and Royal College of Art Professor, Iain R Webb.

The hand-drawn artworks are inspired by iconic images from British VOGUE in the 1950s - an era of hats and matching gloves, haughty elegance and hourglass silhouettes (a period that continues to inspire contemporary designers including Miuccia Prada and Dolce & Gabbana).

The book features a glamorous dream wardrobe of luxurious ballgowns and soigné cocktail dresses, smart suits and dramatic accessories by key designers including Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Givenchy and Chanel. The accompanying captions offer fashion and style tips (often highly amusing in hindsight) and are taken from the original pages of VOGUE. The c90 artworks can be coloured in in the spirit of the original images that inspired them or embellished with whatever colors and patterns take the reader's fancy. The coloring book is the perfect present for all those who love vintage fashion.

About the author

Born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina, Vogue’s journey through the world of creative writing first began in middle school with poetry and songwriting. While the mix of rhythm and words was the initial passage to self-expression, it was the discovery of prose that opened the door to a world of endless possibilities. An avid reader of Urban Fiction, Vogue felt the need to create literary works that had an equal balance of street lit, drama, romance, and faith-based undertones.

A graduate of Winthrop University (Rock Hill, S.C.), possessing a bachelor’s degree in social work, Vogue, first birthed the idea of The Diamond Collection in the halls of her alma mater. In 2003, she put pen to paper and thus was created, Diamonds In The Rough, part one of The Diamond Collection series.

By 2010, Vogue had written drafts of the entire ten book series and in June of 2010, Diamonds In The Rough, was published for her to share with the rest of the world. Soon followed by Diamonds Are Forever in October of 2010 and The Ace of Diamonds in February of 2013, Vogue joined the league of other writers, determined to make her mark in the literary world.

Still writing, Vogue released the fourth book in the series, Black Diamonds, on July 4, 2015. She is currently working on Diamonds N’ Roses, the fifth installment of the series.

Como ustedes saben, desde muy chica soy fana de la moda y todo el mundo que la rodea, uno de mis sueños era (y sigue siendo) trabajar como editora en la revista por eso cuando me enteré de este libro supe que lo necesitaba. ⠀⠀

Iain Webb, famoso editor de moda, recopila lo mejor de la década de los 50’ y toda su etapa de glamour mediante las portadas de la emblemática revista, la cual fue documentando la revolución que se estaba produciendo en el mundo del diseño de la época.

Es increíble ver y leer el trabajo arduo qué hay detrás de portada y a su vez, todo lo que representaba para la época. También fue hermoso ver el paso del blanco y negro a la explosión de color.
Sin dudarlo mis tapas favoritas son la de Julio de 1951 y Septiembre de 1952.

Tal cual dice el título, además de ser un libro informativo, es un ejemplar para colorear. Desde la portada hasta la contratapa pueden tener tu propio toque, lo cual me parece súper creativo y entretenido. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Te lo súper recomiendo si: te gusta la moda, te gusta dibujar y si estás estudiando diseño de indumentaria.
