An amazing book that explains in a very funny and entertaining way how to improve our perception of Art, how to begin to understand the beauty all around us and how to wonder about apparently ordinary things.
A great graphic and the use of a very easy language full of great quotes make this book a must-read for everyone that wants to understand better the world and the Art in it. My only complain is that it's a bit short for my taste, it should be longer (I read it in 40 minutes top)... May I hope for a more elaborated sequel? Anyway, great book! :)

Highly recommend for both art enthusiasts and novices. But also for any curious minds and aspiring detectives!

This short book can be summed up with a Marcel Proust quote within the book: "The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes"
It's not about showing the reader how to appreciate art but to look with new eyes at everything in the world around us so that we can look at the everyday to see its artistic value.
I would describe it more as a self-help book in your approach to life, rather than a book specifically about art itself.
It's a novel approach to art appreciation and one that can be an easy access point to those who generally spend very little time with the creative arts.
It's not about showing the reader how to appreciate art but to look with new eyes at everything in the world around us so that we can look at the everyday to see its artistic value.
I would describe it more as a self-help book in your approach to life, rather than a book specifically about art itself.

bakış açımızı değiştirerek, gündelik hayatımızdaki objelerin sanatsal değerlerini takdir edebileceğimiz yönünde bir görüş sunulmuş. aslında aynı bakış açısıyla, önceden anlamsız bulduğumuz sanat eserlerini de farklı bir yaklaşımla görebilmemiz sağlanabilir. yazarın, bu görüşünü empoze edebilmek adına; sokaklarda karşılaşılan görüntülere anlamlar yüklediği örnekleri de okuyoruz.
bir sanat eserini anlamlandırmak için bize yol gösteren metotlar da sunuyor aslında. müzelerde resimlere uzun uzun bakan ziyaretçi figürünün bir stereotype halini aldığını biliyoruz ancak bunun sanatı anlamlandırmak için önemli bir eylem olduğunu anlatıyor yazar. bunun sebebi, detayların ne olduğunu görmemiz gerekliliği; bunu sağlamak içinse uzun uzun resimlere bakacak zamana ihtiyacımız var. geçmiş deneyimlerimiz de sanat eserini anlamlandırmada önemli rol oynuyor. örneğin bir resimde veya filmde yer alan göndermeyi anlamak için, o kadrajın ya da detayın neyi temsil ettiğini bilmeliyiz. yazarın sunduğu bir örnekte asfalttaki deformasyonun köpek silüetine benzer yapısını anlamlandırma çabasını, köpeğin neye benzediğini bilmeden anlamamız mümkün olamaz.

Super-quick read and great fun! Recommended for people who want to learn how to be more attentive to details in their regular day, and to those who want to learn how to 'frame' these observations to make it Art.

Super quick and light read. very humorous and insightful however. Not a book to be read before bed.
