Refreshingly weird and primitive and dream-like. Maybe more of a 4-star kind of thing but I just really loved reading this right now, especially since it was recommended to me by Jon-Michael Frank.
I really like this book, and perhaps more for Gonzalez's storytelling than his art. But even his style has its own appeal and -- is this an appropriate word? -- charm. But a very strange narrative...which is one of the reasons this appealed to me. Another one that I read for our recent publisher spotlight on Alternative Comics and co-op for the podcast.
Didn't quite come together for me writing wise, but still and enjoyable read. Felt very "Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron", making it stand out from the typical comic coming down the pipeline. The art almost feels tactile because the characters move through a universe surrounded by weird blobs.
