A beautiful and truly inspirational romance which I absolutely adored.

I dont normally read inspirational romances and I dont read many male/female romances either. Having grown up on Mills and Boon, and Barbara Cartland and getting to the stage where I was rather bored with both, I now mostly read male/male romances or murder mystery with a frisson of romance.

I was attracted by the blurb on this story because it sounded different. I am a cynical romance reader and think many romance stories are

I LOVE THE KIDS IN THIS BOOK!!! Todd (“thoughtful and kind with a little bit of his dad’s protective nature”) , Randy (he could teach some adults a thing or ten about how to be a friend), Amos (oh, be still my heart with his widdle wisp)… even feisty niece Jenny in her brief appearance in the very first chapter.

And along with the kids comes a lot of the humor. Particularly as poor beleaguered Matt tries to wrangle all three boys into church. At the same time. By himself. Needless to say, it does

I have never read any religious fiction books, and was determined to read this with an open mind. Having said that, I will admit I was completely & pleasantly surprised by this book!! This story is about Matt Wilmot, a single father of 3 young boys...Todd, Randy & Amos. His wife died while giving birth to Amos, and Matt is doing the best he can to raise them. A few years have passed since his wife died, and his mother-in-law Gloria is insisting he take the boys to church, and this is how ...more

Rollicking fun, achingly sweet and peppered with large doses of love and laughter. Honestly, those Wilmot boys are a hoot! Had my hair standing on end a time or two and makes me glad I had a daughter. It's easy to see why Matt is in over his head where those three 'hooligans' are concerned. All male, conflicted by the absence of a mother and the strained relationship between their dad and their grandmother these perceptive little guys are left to their own devices way too often. With disastrous ...more

More Than A Promise is a delightful story of family, love and second chances. This is the first book I have read by Ruth and I have to say I enjoyed it immensely. It certainly won't be the last book of hers which I read, and I can highly recommend it.

Elle is a strong woman. Despite having her heart broken and being vulnerable about her differences which are often looked down upon by others (her ex-husband running off with a supermodel didn't help her self-esteem all that much either) she still

Oh, what a marvelous story!

Randy reminded me of my own grandson, full of adventure and stubborn as mud! Todd, the eldest, is sweet and yearning to be helpful. And Amos, the youngest, well, he’s gentle and kind.

I’ve always wanted the chance to do — on an amateur level — what Elle does, so I thoroughly enjoyed reading about her passion. And the boys are hilarious when they’re . . . well, I’ll let you read it for yourself and find out for yourself.

My original endorsement for the novel: “More Than a Promise is a tender story about families, loss, struggles, forgiveness, faith and love. With relatable characters and a beautiful small-town story, this novel touches a place deep in the soul. It is a family and Christian-centered story that is humorous and teaches life-changing lessons, leaving us pondering our lives and wanting to become better people.”

Could I give this book a 6 star rating? I laughed within the first few pages and then cried a couple times later in the book. It's a book about forgiveness, overcoming fear, acceptance and of course love. The 3 darling (sometimes rambunctious and deceptive) boys were so believable you would have thought they came right out of the preschool I work at. You can't help but love them. This is a book I will definitely add to my library! collection!

Grieving the very public breakup of her marriage, artist Elle returns to her hometown to set up her studio and start over. She's equally captivated and irritated by the 3 young motherless boys next door, left to run wild while their father runs the family business. When the boys' grandmother threatens the only home they'd ever known, Elle comes up with a crazy scheme to keep the family together and announces her engagement to their dad.
The premise is pretty far-fetched, but this novel is worth r

Each time I read a new book by Ruth Logan Herne, I think it must be her best story…until I read the next one. More Than a Promise is another “best book ever” by this amazing author. I loved this story with its theme of sacrificial love, so beautifully realized through these characters, reminding me of what simple faith means.

More Than a Promise is a wonderful plot-driven story about widower Matt Wilmot, who has his hands full as a father of three rambunctious and adventurous boys while trying to save the family business. His life is full of stress and he has no room for not even one more problem. So, when one of the boys shenanigans have him tearing up the neighbor's yard, he just wants to pay for it and be done with it.

Ruth Logan Herne writes the kind of stories that I like to read – stories with a sweet poignancy that will resonate with any reader. I’ve read two of her books this week, completely different on the surface, but with the same heartfelt emotion and rich, complex characterization. I’m not sure how to describe it, but there’s that special “something” that elevates Ruth’s writing in my opinion. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that, inst

I loved this book and so Ruth is going to be my favorite new author!!!
This story is about love, laughter and yes learning on how to find family time to spend together with three wonderful little boys who desperately need a mom to guide them along the way.
I never knew that 3 little guys could cause such trouble!!! They are funny, fun loving and it takes a wonderful neighbor to help show them the way.
I think shy quiet Todd has to be my favorite. Randy is second and Amos such a cute little guy!!

A heroine who truly believes she is not pretty, a “plain Jane,” if you will. She dresses in unusual outfits. But she is centered in God, and confident in Him. She is faithful. Elle Drake creates beautiful pottery and is well known for her works.

Good-looking, but with haunted eyes, Matt Wilmot and his three sons move into the house next door to Elle. Through a series of mischievous mishaps by his sons, Matt meets Elle . . . and, well you’ll have to buy the book to find out.

More Than a Promise by Ruth Logan Herne is outstanding! What a delightful heartwarming read that captivated me--where I did not want to stop reading until I was finished. The characters were so real that I want to go visit Cedar Mills to connect with them.

Elle Drake is back in Cedar Mills after a heartbreaking publicized divorce from her ex-husband. Elle is taken with Matt Wilmot's three young sons when they come in late for church one Sunday. Each of the Wilmot's boys is charming in their own
I loved this book!! I've always loved stories with single parents with precocious children and a love interest that can charm and handle those children. This book has THREE children, all with different personalities, and Elle manages to charm them all.

I loved Elle's personality. She's been so wounded but she's still a fighter and stands up for what she believes. Although she hasn't had children of her own, she has worked with them and has a good grasp of how to teach them to behave and be respe

'More Than a Promise' is the second book by this author that I have read. Overall, the plot is sound, there's an array of well thought out characters, with just the right amount of conflict to realistically portray a family torn by the loss of a young wife and mother. Matt, lost his first wife in childbirth to his 3rd son. His mother in law, in whom he has shared a difficult relationship with all along, is seemingly fighting a never ending battle of the wills and threats of custody proceedings. ...more

Wow. I'm in awe with how much there are in More Than a Promise by Ruth Logan Herne. Then we're switched to Matt and his three delightful (though rambunctious) boys, with a reputation that precedes through the constant gossip in town and church. In short, this is a realistic contemporary drama/romance about finding happiness in chaos, the hope in family, and long-sought healing through faith.

Let me just address the Wilmot children! They are a hoot. Ruth fabulously captures their vibrant – and contrasting – personalities. My favorite parts of this dynamic were the moments of sheer honesty from the kids, especially Randy, the notorious middle child and instigator. In his case, bluntness resulted in some hilarious and insightful conversati

Admittedly, Elle Drake's dreams of a family have been smashed after her husband's affair, a subsequent divorce and tabloid exploitations of their celebrity status. However, when three impish little next-door neighbor boys invade her property and force an introduction to their widowed father, Elle's world spins on a different axis, much like her world renowned pottery succumbs to her talented hands.

Mayhem and madness, love and laughter abound! Ruth Logan Herne always captures the intricacies of family life in her stories, and More Than a Promise is certainly no exception!

The three Wilmot boys are rambunctious rascals, and their dad Matt has his hands full as a single parent and a business man. “If the Wilmots were a hashtag, they’d rock the “trending now” list daily.” When next door neighbor Elle Drake finds herself in the midst of the Wilmot chaos, her life takes a turn that she never ex

This is the first book that I have read by this author and it was an enjoyable book. I liked how the characters in this book were real people, they could have been anyone you know. The author's writing style was very nice and made the story flow easily. It was fun to watch as Matt and Elle get to know each other on a deeper level. The boys were great in offhandly playing a part in this without trying, but by being themselves. I found myself talking to both Elle and Matt telling them what to do. ...more

In one of the first scenes in this book, I laughed out loud. The relationship between single woman Elle Drake and her next door neighbor, widower Matt Wilmot, is an adventure. Matt has three young sons. Elle has her art and is recovering from a broken heart. Matt's mother-in-law wants to take his children from him.

The day Elle hears his dead wife's mother threaten to take the boys, she poses as his fiance. And this is when the fun really begins.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! The story is true to the description and it pulled me in from the first so that I just had to finish it in one sitting. It's refreshing to read a Christian romance that really draws you in and has you feeling emotions right along with the characters. Matt and Elle both have baggage to sort through. Would they carry it throughout their marriage or let God handle it? Their actions is what made my heart ache and melt through their journey. This is a sweet read that will make time pass easily.
