Interesting format and the digital illustrations are superb. However, I would have liked to see him gain fame for something he did on purpose-not by accident.
Cleverly written as if Monty is making notes in his pad. I can see the benefits of using this book to introduce different writing styles to children that are maybe struggling with the more formal approach. A useful way to introduce the point that some times you don't always get things straight away.
Loved this so much. Monty Molenski noir style reporter, out for the scoop of his life, only to be thwarted at every turn. Loved the news paper format, the illustrations were a visual feast, I studied every page. I cannot get enough detective picture books in my life and my 3.5 year old agrees. High recommend to any budding sleuth...
Monty's monologue is reminiscent of the dialogue reporters use in old movies, which makes for a very amusing read. There are lovely little details throughout, in the form of posters, lighting/shadows, and all the while his camera is accidentally taking photos of the monsters he has sought.
Fun, dramatic irony and tropes out the wazoo. Not my fav, but good use of five minutes.
Fun kids book! I love it when the illustrations tell as much or more than the actual "words" of the story do; this is definitely one of those!
