A fun book that, all the while, I couldn't help but think that fans of Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson books would absolutely love.

Eleven-year-old Grey Gomez is dead and he, along with four other kids his age, are stuck in the Underworld, unable to pass on to the other side. Together, they team up with some unlikely allies (Death himself, for example) to save the Afterlife... and the souls of the already dearly departed.

Although this book is geared toward a younger audience (middle grade, 10+), I

This is a great book for those 10 and up kids in your life. This book is packed with imaginative scenes. I had to access my inner child because as I was readng and thinking yuck – at the same time I could hear kids saying “cool”. While the characters in this book have died – there is nothing morbid going on. What there is, is a lot of action and adventures perfect for this age group. For my daughter this was a 5 star book, but for me it was closer to 3.5
This book had her laughing, had her shouting oh no, and the occasional oh my goodness. She found this story so relatable and funny that she immediately wanted to know if there was another one for us to read afterward. She really did love this book. I don't normally read middle grade books for myself, but I did enjoy this one with her. I stuck with her rating because I felt it would be unfair for me to rate it off of my

Great read for kids 4th grade and up. Also a fun read for younger kids when read out loud. Exciting, adventurous and funny, explore the Underworld with a group of kids who have special powers and have to work together to protect the Underworld and the way it works. The Grim Reaper is a hoot and the main character, Grey Gomez is awesome!
