This book has lots of abuse, so if that's a trigger for you, skip this one.
It was ok but I was disappointed at the little time these two actually spent together on page. Many things are going on in their individual lives, so we spend a lot of time reading about them and not about Gabe and Cam as a couple. Every other aspect of their lives is developed except for their relationship.
Gabriel is book 2 in R.J. Scott's Legacy Ranch series. I have to admit I was slightly disappointed in this story because there isn't much of "Legacy Ranch" in the story. I would say 85% of the story takes place away from the ranch, is about Gabriel and his horrible life and how he meets Cam Stafford. Additionally, we get to see Cam's messed up family, who are really beyond help, and OTT cruel to Cam, simply because he is blind. Add in, Six, Cam's family friend/bodyguard/Concierge- who also may b ...more

When I read the blurb for this story, I knew parts were going to be very tough to read, knew major amounts of kleenex would probably be needed. . Maybe I am an "odd duck" as the saying goes, but MY reaction to all the horrific things said and done to Gabriel at the hands of two sick and twisted individuals was pure, and unadulterated fury. I absolutely adored Gabriel. I wanted to grab him, protect him and hug him.
So abused and brainwashed, Gabriel thought, to some extent, he deserved what happen

I wanted to kill people while reading this book

Stefan was an utter bastard, let me just get that right out of the way first.

This one could be the biggest study in contrasts in the whole Texas series as it touches on both the extreme depravity of man and on the most pure of heart.

Gabriel is, like the angel he's named for, also a mixture, at once quite child like in his ways of dealing with things like emotions, in another so worldly wise that nothing which happens to him knocks him off his curve

The story of Gabriel is not an easy one to read, if you've read Kyle (The First Legacy) then you know you're not going to be in for an easy ride with this series. Completely broken at the hands of Hank and his cronies and now Stefan, Gabe has hit rock bottom and can't see there being a way up. When he meets Cam he realises there may just be a little more to life. This isn't a Texas book, you get a quick glimpse of Jack and Riley but this book isn't about them, they have their story, this is ALL ...more
I love reading RJ Scott books because she tackles sensitive matters with delicacy and grace. Her writing style is very visceral and poignant that I am often moved to tears. As with book 1, this second book was very angsty, emotionally taxing and subtly encouraging. The threads of hope kept me going through the hard to read parts because I know that we will eventually make it over to the other side. I would encourage readers to read Kyle, Book 1, to truly appreciate the importance of Legacy Ranch ...more
5 stars - OH GOD WHERE TO BEGIN. I don't know if my rambling mind will do justice to this book as I can't find the words to describe just how much I loved it, but let me start by saying.... Wow! I mean honestly, this was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster, but it was absolutely, heartbreakingly delightful! And I mean the "I want to cry all the tears" kind of delightful. I cried ALL the tears and then some, but I also laughed and smiled and "aww"ed and absolutely fell in love with this stor ...more

This book comes with a health warning as follows: Be aware: emotional and physical abuse are depicted on the page in this book.

I’d advice anybody to heed this warning. If Kyle’s story in Legacy Ranch #1 was hard to read, this one takes the character’s pain and the reader’s discomfort a few steps further. There are no two ways about it, Gabriel’s plight will tear your heart out of your chest, break it and then stomp all over the broken pieces. And the thing is that it wasn’t Gabriel’s past and th

Gabriel is the second book in the Legacy Ranch series by RJ Scott and its main characters are Gabriel and Cameron. These two men are worlds apart in most aspects of their lives except for the hurt and pain they carry and a fear for their futures for very different reasons.

Gabriel is a tough character to read. He escaped one life of pain and abuse to fall quickly into another even if this one has the veneer of being better and Gabriel believes he is cared for. Ther

There is a warning in the blurb - Be aware: emotional and physical abuse are depicted on the page in this book. This is a valid and important warning.

This is the second book in this spin off series about the young men who survived the nightmare of abuse at the hands of Hank and his bunch, but they have not come through unscathed.... Gabriel's plight tore out my heart and stomped it to bits. (yes, there was ugly crying)

Cam is the other MC and although he's not as damaged as Gabriel, he also has

Bloggers Note:
This is not an easy read, even for those who read Kyle: The First Legacy and those who know the back story of Hank Castille's victims from Liam's story in Texas Christmas and Texas Fall, it will hurt your heart but it is also a tale of survival.

Gabriel Reyes has not had a truly happy or safe moment in life since his mother passed when he was little, he had his childhood and innocence robbed from him at the hands of a evil man and life has not improved since escaping Hank's horrid

RJ Scott's Gabriel is Book 2 of the Legacy Ranch series, a spin-off from her Texas series. The Legacy Ranch series is not an easy series to read. It has a lot of abuse and healing is more the focus than love and HEA. And this book had a lot of abuse, a lot of sexual, emotional and physical abuse and was hard to read at times. Gabriel, is the second installment of the Legacy Ranch Series by RJ Scott. Although this is a Legacy Ranch book, the bulk of this story takes place away from the ranch. I was disappointed at first but looking back and thinking of everything Gabriel experienced, I’m kind of happy the ranch does not bear any taint of what Gabriel has experienced.
Gabriel is one of those characters you just want to gather up in your arms and shield from the rest of the world. Damaged is the word that comes t

RJ's Texas series is one of my all time favourites and Jack & Riley are one of my most beloved MM couples.  I'm so invested in Jack, Riley and their whole extended Double D Ranch family I'd happily read about them mucking out horse stables or doing the washing up.
I will admit though that I had mixed feelings about reading the sequel series Legacy. After meeting Kyle, Gabriel and Daniel in the Texas books and knowing what we do about what happened to them before they reached the Double D an

I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

This is another gritty and dramatic addition to the ‘Legacy’ series. Wealthy Cameron meets Gabriel when he hires him as an escort for a family event. Cam’s controlling and manipulative family provides the drama for this story while Gabriel’s inability to escape from a life of prostitution and domestic abuse provides the grit.

Seems almost as trapped and lonely as Gabriel at the start of this story. Even though he is wealthy and

This is a truly remarkable and special book - but definitely not an easy read. Gabriel is a man who has suffered a lot, and is still in the grips of a manipulative handler. Getting inside his head is an emotional experience; both incredibly moving and painful. Be prepared to try and persuade him to behave differently, again, and again.

We also have the chance to put ourselves in Cam's shoes, as he deals with his physical

Where to start! First of all, there are so many emotions and so much that happens in this book. Gabriel suffers more physical and emotional abuse than anyone should be able to handle. It goes to show how amazingly strong he is not to give up, even if he's afraid to get help. He tried to run once. He learned his lesson. What he went through tore my heart out. He needed an angel to save him, to show him his true worth, not what he always believed...that he was worth nothing.

This second story in the ‘Legacy Ranch’ series, a spinoff of the ‘Texas, Campbell-Hayes’ books, is just as touching, disturbing, emotionally draining, nerve-rackingly suspenseful, and ultimately rewarding as the first. It is set mostly in Dallas, but the Legacy Ranch and the wonderful characters there, like Kyle and Jason from the first volume, play a crucial role. The focus of this novel is on two men trapped in darkness – one because he is almost blind and the other because he cannot get out o ...more

Gabriel Reyes has had a hard life. His mother died when he was young, as naive child he was taken advantage of and he thought he was saved. He was doing the only thing he thought he was good at... sex. He was doing whatever he had to to keep Stefan happy. In return Stefan kept him doing booking and safe or so he thought.

Gabriel thinks he owes his life to his pimp/boyfriend Stefan who saved him from the streets, even through Stefan is abusing him. Cam is sick of his family giving him a hard time for being single and treating him like is incapable because he is blind.

This is an ARC. So, How to write a review without giving spoilers and I really don't want to repeat the plot lines.
So. This is a rollercoaster ride of edge of the seat anxiety, angst, anger, violence, emotional turmoil and love. So much love. I wanted to kill Stefan myself, just sayin! Gabe and Cam have their own extremely different issues. Six is a wonderful secondary character and its always special to get a brief visit with the Campbell-Hayes family.

Well, I’ve reached the end (so far) of the Texas and Legacy series. There is more to come but I’ll have to wait for the next book. I have book hangover and I will miss the characters of the ranches (and Dallas) more than you can imagine.
We’ll have to go back a little bit to a time when Riley and Jack Hayes-Campbell rescued some young men from incredible abuse on a ranch in South Texas. There was a trial and the perpetrator went to jail but these men, barely out of boyhood, have suffered for lif

Reviewer’s Note:
Be warned—this one is heavy—emotionally heavy—with topics of abuse, past and present, physical and emotional. Gabriel is one very damaged man.

When Gabriel escaped from Hank Castille’s ranch years ago, he made his way to Dallas where he was “rescued” by a man named Stefan. At first, Gabriel was so grateful to have someone who cared about him, he thought he was in love wi

A great story; keep tissues handy.

This has been a difficult review to write. I actually finished reading Gabriel's story over a week ago but just didn't know what to say, or how to say it. This is a fantastic book, and it brought up all kinds of emotions – just the way I like when I read – but some of the things that happened to Gabriel Reyes in his past were hard to read about. Never fear, though, RJ Scott always delivers a happy ending and the one for this book is no exception.

Just as with the first book in this series, Gabriel-The Second Legacy also runs very high on the angst factor. Gabriel has had a difficult life, losing his mother at a young age, then suffering through abuse at the hands of those who should have been taking care of him. Even after escaping that, he just goes from one bad situation to another—though he is so beat down that he actually rationalizes his current situation.

Cam has grown up with whatever he needed from a monetary standpoint, but as h

This second book in the Legacy Series features Cam and Gabriel. Right from the start, I was pulled into the story and it had me on the edge of my seat until the end. RJ Scott evoked so many emotions with this story. My heart broke for both men. Both Cam and Gabriel are strong yet vulnerable characters. On the surface, they have nothing in common but there is an instant connection. RJ has a knack of bringing the characters to life. Gabriel shows a lot of confidence when he is doing his job. This book is different from most of RJ Scott’s books. It deals with a subject matter that is a trigger for some people. She wrote about dealing with abuse, sexual and otherwise. About feelings of self-worth or the lack there of. The need to find value in yourself and did so with sensitivity. She also wrote about accepting that sometimes we all need help. That sometimes to be a stronger person you need to accept the help offered.
In some ways, this was a hard book to read. The abuse of Gabriel, fi

RJ Scott delivers another heart-wrenching yet beautiful story, this one featuring Gabe and Cam. This is definitely not the easiest story to read, Gabe goes through a lot of emotional and physical abuse, and it’s hard to read but it’s a part of his story. I felt for him, I hurt for him and I was angry for him. Cam and Gabe’s journey certainly isn’t easy or lighthearted but it’s a journey of healing and finally understanding what love really means.
