Parenting is the most exciting, most rewarding, most challenging profession on the earth. But, more than that, they are the only professions that are eternal.
I began writing when I was five years old. I wrote, illustrated, collated, and stapled together my own books and went door to door selling them. I think writing is in my blood--or maybe ink flows where blood should be. I love writing fiction. I love writing non-fiction. I adore poetry and delight in the feeling of words flowing through me and landing on the page to create a poem. I'm hopelessly in love with words and often find myself repeating a word over and over just to hear the music it makes. I also love the challenge of putting the right words together so children can understand. You get the idea. I'm addicted to words and books--reading and writing them.
I loved this book! Seriously, it is one of the best books on teaching our children & being a better mother that I have read. It contains the plain and simple truths of the gospel. It is not preachy or condescending in any way. The author simply shares what has worked for her. Despite being written in 1983 it is not out of date and could have just as easily been written yesterday.
Wonderful book, gave me lots of insights and ideas on how to become a better mother to my sweet children. I like how she focuses on becoming the kind of mother YOU want to be....not just throwing a bunch of researched parenting skills and methods at you. True change comes from inside-out, and I appreciated so much of what she taught me. A definite must-read for any mother!
This simple, short, beautiful book is filled with practical ideas to help mothers become more spiritually centered. I appreciated the summaries at the end of each chapter. I enjoyed the personal stories the author shared. It was a very encouraging read, one that deserves to be perused often. I will definitely reread it from time to time to be reminded of the principles and ideas.
