This large collection has a wide selection of Archie stories from pretty much every decade that Archie has been published. This gives it a sense of variety, and it's kind of fun to guess which decade each story is from. There are also stories from the Jughead, and Betty and Veronica series as well. Surprisingly, there were some Sabrina stories too. At 1000 pages of comics, you definitely get your money's worth, and it's worth picking up if you are an Archie fan.

One thousand pages of Archie, Jughead, Betty, Veronica, Reggie and et al - it certainly took some time getting through it all, and it brought back memories from childhood. I notice they did not have any of the 1970's Christian Archie stories though!
I wish Archie would choose one of the two girls and be done with it.
Jughead is still my favourite character I think.
Good times.

Learning that Archie comics had put together a thousand page digest sent me into a happy dance and I immediately ordered it through my local comic book store, the $14 dollars being well worth it. Then I get on good reads following my many month hiatus to record that I have read this masterpiece and discover that it is one of many thousand page digest. Ecstatic! Except, I have no idea how to get my hands on these volumes, not that I even have the money to buy them all.

It’s no wonder that I had no idea that these had been produced, I don’t follow Archie on Face book (that should change) and I don’t often frequent their website. I also save on money by only buying the occasional new digest and mostly see what treasures I can find at comic cons for cheap prices.

The funny thing is that my comic book provider, JC, had no idea that Archie was producing these giant gems. It was free comic book day, the first Saturday in May and I was still in the store when I picked up and looked at the latest comic shop news for that week. Right their within its pages was a picture of this anniversary special and I immediately inquired to JC about it. He was happy to order it if only for the fact to see how big it would actually be.

It’s amazing though, that Archie would make it, safe and sound, to 75 years. Just think about all the other similar comic companies and similar type teenage characters that never made it beyond the 1950’s and 60’s, at least not without changing dramatically (Marvels Hellcat).

I honestly can’t imagine going without Archie comics. Archie comics are like bubblegum. Sometimes a story is a big Hubba Bubba square and sometimes it’s a strip of juicy fruit. Sometimes you can get a couple big bubbles out of it and sometimes you have to crack it between your teeth. Sometimes the flavor last quite a while and sometimes you use it up quickly. But every story is tantalizingly sweet and chewy and wonderful.

A giant heap of comics is a great way to celebrate Archie, and there's a ton in this collection. Enjoy the more-than-75 years of the famous redhead, with two features of undoctored 50s comics.
