Neve Colvin isn’t good enough. As an introvert, her life is a never-ending list of labels and criticism. Pressures to change come from everyone—including the one person she thought would love her unconditionally … her mother. All Neve wants is acceptance, but surrounded by extroverts it’s a wish that’s nearly impossible to fulfil.

For Neve there’s only one solution: anyone

MY RATING: 4 STARS

I've not read anything by this author before but during my stalking of AMAZON this book kind of stuck out, the cover calls to you, but the synopsis grabs you..

As I start this you get that strong connection coming through with these two childhood friends, Blake has always been there for her, puts her needs above anyone else, and accepts her for herself, not what society expec

This is my first Hoddell read and I have to say that I really enjoyed her writing style. Her characters, especially Blake really warmed my heart and felt life like to me. I never questioned their motives or actions and it was a lot of fun getting to know them and to like them.

And while this story was emotional and I did enjoy it, the believability factor, for me, was never there. I don't know if that is because like the main character, I too, tend to be more of an introvert and have never, never

I was asked to review this book by the author, Mia Hoddell and I couldn't refuse. It sounded like just my kind of story. I love getting swept into other people's worlds and I won't lie, I was totally consumed by Neve and Blake's story.
As a girl who has always felt she isn't good enough, doesn't fit in anywhere and is fed up of being called 'quiet' and 'introverted', as though those labels make someone a bad person or someone people don't want to befriend, I can totally see where Neve is coming

This book has stunned me in so many ways. What I wasn't prepared for was knowing how much I could possibly be loving this book. I literally lived the pages, not read them. I know how it feels to always feel not good enough, always be criticized. Give this book to introverts and they'll fall for it in

Review by Susan on behalf of Ladies Living in Bookland:

Neve and Blake have known one another since they were babies. But being so entirely different was what lead them to be the very best of friends.

But Blake's upbringing was entirely different to Neve's. He has a warm and welcoming family whereas Neve's mother was a real piece of work...

Mia Hoddell has a way of writing beautiful stories which engage her readers’ emotions and Not Enough is probably the best of her books so far.
Neve’s story reaches out to those of us who don’t fit a mould; the introverts and social outcasts. I genuinely felt a connection to Neve and the openness and honesty of the emails she sends to a private account. As readers, we appreciate how personal this story is to Mia Hoddell and this is reflected in the range of emotions she makes us feel; sadness, ang

INITIAL THOUGHTS
After receiving the request from Mia Hoddell to read her book and reading the blurb for this book I immediately felt the urge to read the book and learn about Neve's story. Having not read any of Mia's other titles I wasn't sure what to expect but was looking forward to finding out.

Not Enough follows the story of Neve Colvin, an introverted artist who is seriously misunderstood and abused by her family. Only one person seems to be ok with her quiet nature, and that’s her best friend Blake. Blake’s always been there for her, or at least, that’s what she’s always told him. But he doesn’t know the extent of the darkness in her past; and if she can help it, he never will.

It's one thing that my biological mother pushed me beyond my limits by abusing me for my blindness and autism. But the main character Neve, was abused for being an introvert? Not cool. That's not even nearly as bad as the things my mom had against me. It's just a different personality. It's no wonder why Neve has kept her walls up, even around her best friend Blake, because the last thing she ever wants is to lose him. I completely relate to Neve with the extreme amount of contrast she received ...more

I received an advanced reader’s copy of Not Enough from the author in exchange for an honest review. This story begins with a woman named Neve who is in her early twenties and very depressed. Being introverted and not very social, she stays at home a lot—attempting to start up her own business through graphic design. Her family is very degrading and unable to understand her personality because they are all very different from her—they all have extroverted personalities and demand social acceptan ...more

Solid 5 Out Of 5 Stars

Not Enough was a near-immaculate portrayal of life as an introvert and the misconceptions that accompany the personality type. Being an introvert myself, I immediately identified with Neve and felt heartbreak with her as people proved themselves unworthy of her trust over and over. Unfortunately, that happens way too often in the lives of those who are simply different, and Mia Hoddell captured those feelings of rejection and disappointment perfectly.

Amazing read

This book was not what I was expecting. Mia had a way of writing on a sensitive subject without making it into a sob story. She delivered the message beautifully, each chapter held a powerful punch. A story about the power of friendship, loyalty and what love really means.

Its a very good story but I felt it ended abruptly. There was a lot more that could of been added to the story. Other than that, it would of got 5 stars from me.

It's taken me way too long to read a novel by Mia Hoddell! Her books have been on my TBR for a long time, and now that I've read Not Enough, I'm doubly excited to get started reading more of her work.

Not Enough's synopsis called out to me - I'm an introvert and have felt the effects of others not understanding what that truly means, although not to the extent the main character, Neve, feels. I believe there's a spectrum when it comes to determining whether you're an introvert or an extrovert. R

Not Enough begins with the protagonist as a vulnerable character who is Neve Colvin, as the book portrays her life and how it has been treating her particularly her mom. Her life seems to be as if it's not even her own when she feels controlled by her mom as her mom makes assumptions of how her life's supposed to be lived. Neve struggles to find herself where she truly fits in a world where she can feel comfortable, completely at peace with herself. As s

Book Review- Not Enough by Mia Hoddell

Neve Colvin is twenty one and lives with her mother still. However her mother doesn’t understand Neve. Neve is quiet and likes being alone. She is an extreme introvert and her mother criticizes her harshly because of it. In fact the verbal abuse is daunting and Neve is sick of it. One horrible night after her friend, Blake, had to save her from a club she had had enough. She packs all her things and moves out after another fight with her mother. It is finall

Not Enough is one of the most emotional…yet realistic novel I have ever read!

Mia Hoddell has brought my attention to the emotions faced by introverts, and how they must or might have felt whenever people tells them to go out and socialise. People think that introverts are shy and isolating themselves, and the most common phrase that comes out of their mouths, or should I say most of us, would be, “You should go out and socialise more!”

We do not realise in

This story definitely had the ability to pull heartstrings. Growing up with a "normal" mother who felt her introvertedness was "not normal", Neve made plans. She just had to get her business up and running and she could go. One fight too many pushes Neve to the brink, but luckily for her, her best friend Blake was always there to catch her -- but even

This was an incredible story but it was so sad. It was depressing, heart breaking, dark in so many ways. My heart absolutely broken for everything that Neve has had to live with. Her mom alonger with her mom's family treat Neve like crap and has hurt her over and over again. She now sees herself as broken inside from all the verbal blows she has had to hear from them. All she wants is her mom to love her and accept her for being herself but that just isn't in the cards. Not enough is my first book by Mia Hoddell, its is a bit of a departure from what I normally read. I feel like the subject matter of Not Enough is very personal for her. What a great introduction to Mia Hoddell by reading Not Enough. Mia has written a beautiful and thoughtful story about introverts.

Neve Colvin feels she isn’t good enough. She is always being criticized by others because she rather spend time alone, she's too quiet and it takes her time to "warm up " to new people. Everyone except Blake is pressuring her to change, even the one person in the world that she needs approval from, her mom.

Blake Reynolds is a good looking guy, who is loving, caring,
