Prince of Light was a really enjoyable read. The characters were well defined and likeable, and the plot was interesting. While there were a lot of diverse creatures/ races brought into the spotlight, the author gives them enough depth and function to make that diversity purposeful and well-fitted into her created world.
I'm not one of those readers who enjoys the whole 'girl is attracted to two guys and is conflicted about which to choose', but I liked the main character, Evanthe, enough to set

This book was recommended to me, and I really enjoyed it! I loved the unique worldbuilding, and I'm a sucker for elves and fair maidens and princes. I wished the romance would have developed a little slower though. It went from like to forever love very quickly without a lot of substance behind it. I think there was more substance behind her relationship with the other guy, the one she didn't choose, even though there was more chemistry with the one she did. I wonder if there will be fallout fro ...more

I loved this book. It was sweet, simplistic, and kept me eager to see how the love story would unfold.
I was disappointed in how the story ended, feeling like it was summarized down to just one paragraph, with so much of it left to be told.
I sooo hope there is more, a series perhaps? I look forward to reading where their path leads them!

Prince of Light starts off with the main character, Evanthe, fleeing into the forest with her mother from mysterious assailants. They become separated, and Evanthe blacks out and awakens in the depths of a castle. She is visited by a mage, Delanor, a dragon-like creature, Faolan, and Kris, an elderly man who initially is the only person Evanthe encounters who can speak her language. Through them she learns that she is in a completely different world from her own, no one is sure how she arrived, ...more

The Prince of Light by K.C. Rivers starts with Evanthe and her mother running through the woods to evade the people that were chasing them. Evanthe’s mother tells her to keep running and she would try to hold them off as long as she could. Evanthe keeps running as her mother tells her. She ends up crawling through some bushes trying to hide because she heard a noise. While Evanthe is making her way through the bushes she runs into a pair of red eyes and everything goes black. When she wakes up, ...more

PRINCE OF LIGHT is very well written and the characters are fleshed out nicely. The plot pacing is sometimes a little uneven, but I find this happening so often in the fantasy genre that I've stopped subtracting stars for it. I found a lot of the concepts unique and well executed. Evanthe, the main character, was complex and interesting, though toward the end she did annoy me a smidge. Not enough to knock off an entire star, but enough for me to gripe a little bit.

The love triangle in this is wh

Really, really enjoyed this book. I could hardly put it down. Descriptions were magical and I really liked the characters and the plot. I'm hoping that there will be more books though because the ending was a bit abrupt. I will certainly read this book again.
This wasn't actually that amazing, but hey, it has elves in it! How wrong can you go with elves?
