Some people just seem to know they are meant to write, but it can still take a while to figure out exactly what their career will entail. Kate Douglas started out writing radio copy for a country western radio station in 1972, wrote and illustrated an educational cartoon strip for the American Mosquito Control Association for a number of years, was a newspaper reporter for a small town weekly where she covered everything from high school sports to drug busts, and then, in the mid-1980s, decided to write her first romance.

Many submissions and rejections followed.

In 1998, she sold to a small ebook publisher before anyone knew what an ebook was, but it wasn't until 2005, a full twenty years after finishing that first romance, that she signed with a New York publisher.

In January 2006, Kensington Publishing launched their Aphrodisia imprint of erotic romance with Kate's Wolf Tales, a sexy paranormal series about a lost race of shapeshifters. She went on to write 21 novels and novellas in that series, then wrote three other series for Kensington before moving to St. Martin's Press.

She has two series with SMP--The Intimate Relations series complete with three novels and one novella of romantic suspense set in California's wine country, and an erotic paranormal series, Feral Passions, set in California's Trinity Alps.

She is also continuing her Spirit Wild series, the sequel to Wolf Tales, independently.

Kate and her husband of over forty-five years have two adult children and six grandchildren. They live in the small town of Healdsburg, California, in the heart of the beautiful Sonoma County wine country.

3 - "Things have changed over the past couple weeks or so..." Stars.

Awakened isn’t the first book I have read by this author, but it is the first full book in the Intimate Relations series that I have read. It’s advertised as a standalone, and yes on the whole I would agree with that, I don’t think missing the previous two was detrimental to my reading experience with this one, but I do think it may have been beneficial in the overall scheme of things.

"I’m much better with software than I am with women."

My main reason for saying that is that the relationship between Marc and Mandy is light-speed-insta, one minute they are friends that are attracted to each other, the next in love, talking about babies and marriage. Marc is most certainly in touch with his softer side, I honestly cannot recall another male fictional character that I have read previously that shed as many tears as he did.

"Unrequited lust isn’t all it’s cracked up to be."

I wonder if it felt like this because I missed out on seeing their attraction build through the first two books. Again not a massive problem, but for all the ‘insta’ I struggled to actually see much of a connection between them, to such a point that apart from the sexy-times, Mandy came over almost 'motherly' in her behavior and interactions towards Marc.

The suspense aspect of the story-line was pretty enjoyable for the first half, a little bit of action and intrigue was thrown into the mix at regular intervals, and the rapid developments and explanations of Marc’s nightmares/visions through hypnosis to discover the truth were dropped into the plot very quickly. But it all seemed to lose steam in the second half, for me.

"You’re the most important thing I don’t have."

The author did a really good job of tying everything up with the previous couples and the other newly formed couple in this book, at the end, but I have to admit after such an action filled beginning I felt a little underwhelmed with the way everything was tied up.

I would definitely look to read more from Kate Douglas, I am just not sure I will jump into a series without reading the preceding books first, next time.

This is the last in the series, it's wrapping everything up and we get a lot of the previous couples as well as a whole new mystery to solve.

Marc, has harbored a crush on Mandy since first meeting her. Because of his questionable past, he's been keeping things platonic between them, too scared to risk her happiness and safety. Even though what he really feels is light years away from the friendship zone he's put them in. He soon finds out that Mandy has been yearning for him just as fiercely.

When left alone, these two finally face the music, and holy crap is it hot!

I loved Mandy, she was a strong heroine, never backing down and always ready to fight for the man she loves. She was a confident, fearless and supportive woman. Pairing her with Marc was genius! I also really liked Marc, he is definitely a more beta Hero. I liked his tender giving side, he brought all the feels in the relationship. it was a little heartbreaking to see him doubting himself and bracing himself for the worst outcome every time he got even a small taste of happiness.

This was a story of love, friends and family. Marc and Mandy's relationship was a fast one. It was sweet and loving but I wanted a little more built up for them.

That being said, I had a hard time caring about the big mystery in this one. All the tidbits we get are easily and quickly revealed, resolved and over with.

This started off so good - The relationship was hot, the characters were interesting and the pacing was spot on. Than it sadly started to drastically slow down for me. There was a lot going on and I was glued to my reader because I just had to know what was going to happen one minute and then it just stopped! It ended up feeling very anti-climatic.

In the end it lacked excitement, or maybe a spark of energy? It started with a bang but half way through the pacing and the storytelling veered off track and I never recovered the same level of interest.

I did finish it and although I really enjoyed Marc and Mandy as a couple and I loved the cute ending it was not enough to make up for the lack of suspense the plot desperately needed.

This book wrapped things up in a great way. While it seemed like Marc and Mandy jumped into a relationship fast, I was ok with it. They had known each other for a while and thrown together while their group of friends constantly gathered and endured their dramas. I liked that everyone ended up as a couple, loved how Marc figured out a unique living situation that allowed them all to continue to have that closeness and how they even added a new couple, one that was a bit unexpected, but very welcomed.

The drama with Marc's family was a bit crazy. I hated what Marc had to live with, but was glad that he was able to put things to rest and live his life in a safe way. Mandy's new business was a great way to honor the past, look to the future and help women in need.

Review from Jeannie Zelos book reviews

Genre:  Romance, suspence

Third book in Kate’s intimate relations series, I enjoyed the first two and this looked to be a great continuation.

We’ve seen Kaz and Jake fall in love, then Jake's brother Ben falls for Kaz friend Lola, and now Jake's friend Marc is falling for Mandy, Lola’s sister.
Confused yet?? A close group of friends and it could be quite sickly, incestuous almost they way the group is finding romance within its bounds, but its not, its a strong, well written suspense series, with the friends and siblings all falling in love, but with stories that make it all feel real, fell very genuine. After all its only natural when you love someone to introduce them to your close friends and family, and then  they have friends and families too and suddenly a small group of people all know each other, some of whom have much in common, and attractions  begin.

I loved Marc right from book one, its always been clear he’s got a kind of front, that behind the facade there's a very different man. Mandy  had a crush on him years before she even met him, seeing him cycling past the coffee shop where she works. Then he enters the small group by way of Jake, and she’s stunned to find him there, at her home, drinking and eating with her friends. Each is really attracted to the other but hide it for their own reasons. Mandy is just lovely, always out to help others, to do good, she gives so much, loves her job where she meets people. She's one of those who are great at that, everyone becomes a friend very quickly.
Then Lola and Ben are away at the same time as Kaz and Jake, and Mandy and Marc are thrown closer – that's it for Marc, if he doesn’t kiss her Now he’ll go out of his mind. He’s stunned when he finds Mandy is really attracted to him too. But this is one of Kate’s suspense stories so no straightforward HEA for them ;-)
Marc’s nightmares are getting worse, he’s been hiding them, fearful of what they mean, of what he sees about himself in them. then one night it comes to a head, Mandy finds out and from there the dangers race up on them, bringing together the whole gang, including Ted the FBI guy they met when Ben was in trouble. He’s now left the fibbies and is working for Marc and boy, does he hit the ground running. He’s staying with Theo, Marc’s right hand man, as his usual hotel is full and ...well, sparks fly there too!

Its a great read, well paced with a great balance between the hot and carnal romance and the quickly stacking up dangers. There’s a couple of incidences that niggled, one where Marc acts to me really out of character, but it is reasonably plausible, and is needed to move that plot forward. His dad’s timing seems very co-incidental, but then again no book if it hadn’t all come together right now :-) There one element where I was rolling my eyes “please, Kate, no. Not that again...” and waiting for something to happen from it, and then when it does – or doesn’t I found myself muttering apologies to Kate, she didn’t use that well worn plot, didn’t let it go the way far too many others do, I should have had more faith in her!! Its kind of hard to say without giving things away but when you read it I’m sure you’ll know exactly what I mean – its something that happens far, far to often in romance reads.
This isn’t just a romance read though, but romantic suspense,  it it deserved – and got- better than an overused plot.

Stars: Four, there’s a couple of elements that are a bit too predictable, but overall its another cracking read from Kate.

Awakened by Kate Douglas is the conclusion of the Intimate Relations series. I enjoyed this story more than the others in the series. Mandy and Marcus's love story is sweet and heartwarming. It did seem that the relationship took off at a rather quick pace, but overall this story was a good read. I am happy to see that Douglas delivered Marc in a much better light than previous main characters in series. He has so many great qualities and wins the girl in the end! I look forward to more from Kate Douglas.

I like romance in novels when it takes a backseat to overarching external tension, which it does here. I won't say the characterization was bad per se - I found the characters generally readable - but I had a problem with the relationship between Marc and Mandy. I understand this is part of a series but I've never read any of it, so I'm not sure if there was previous development I'm missing, but there was literally NO tension whatsoever in this romance. They get together almost immediately and start talking about marriage within a couple chapters, and they never face any setbacks between them. At one point the author tried to interject some 'conflict' (RE: Marc trying to propel Mandy's career and her throwing a feminist fit about it) but it felt forced like the author knew she couldn't let it be too perfect and had to grasp for some conflict straws.

Okay, not every IRL relationship is fraught with tension, but those are the ones that are engaging to read about, not this you're-my-perfect-match, let's-have-babies crap. It didn't seem like either of these characters (or the supporting 'good guy' characters) had any flaws or nuance. They were all just sweet, well-meaning people in every aspect. The sex scenes kind of read like encounters between two inexperienced teenagers instead of people in their 30s who weren't virgins.

Also, while the antagonist's story line was interesting, he was extremely one-dimensional. Every bad trait a villain could have, he got. Ugly, sadistic, confrontational asshole, etc. At least give him some depth and duality.

So overall decent formula, but I'm not into these flat (though likable) characterizations. Probably wouldn't try any other books in the series.

Maybe I would have liked this story more, had I read the previous books in the series. I think I liked the supporting characters more than the two main characters. There was a lot of potential in that relationship, I just didn't feel really drawn to it. I'm not sure why. Perhaps if the story had focused more on that central relationship and had less of the others, I don't know.

I actually really liked all their friends, and I enjoyed the times they were around more that when it was just Marc and Mandy.

The writing is good and the story moves at a good pace. I liked it enough that I may eventually go back and read the other two books in the series.

Marc is having dreams and after seeing an hypnotherapist realizes he's seen his mothers murder. Mandy has had a crush on Marc ever since she seen him ride his bike past her coffee shop and after their roommates leave on a trip they come together and realize their love. Their love is sweet and supportive. Nice read. All the previous couples are integrated into the story as well.

I probably would have enjoyed this book more if I had read the books that came before. It spent a lot of time on the other couples. Another thing that concerned was that the main couple fell in love right off and was not much excitement between them after that. I just really had a hard time getting through it. Sorry.

My Review:
I have never read a Kate Douglas book that I did not like. Awakened is the third book in the Intimate Relations series and rounding up all the previous plots which took place and were resolved a little too quickly for me. If you haven't read the previous books in this series I suggest reading those first just for the background information.

I still mostly loved this edition simply because of the relationship. Sometimes I love books for their plots and I want more of that instead of our cast and other times I want more cast than plot. This was one such case where our h/h carried the weight of the story and kept me invested.

Side note: I think this is the first time I've seen an underlining pregnancy fetish mentioned in a story and so quickly but hey whatever turns you on, eh? Some guys like the thought of knocking up a chick during sex, some simply tease about it out of amusement but its the first time Ive seen it in a romance like this. Heh.

REVIEW: 3.75 stars-- AWAKENED is the third and final installment in Kate Douglas’s contemporary, adult INTIMATE RELATIONS erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on a tight knit group of friends. This is billionaire/IT developer/vineyard owner Marc Reed, and barista Mandy Monroe’s story line. AWAKENED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order of back story and information about the friendships and hardships the characters have had to endure.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Marc and Mandy) AWAKENED follows the building relationship between billionaire Marc Reed, and coffee shop barista Mandy Monroe. Throughout the series Marc and Mandy have been dancing around one another; the sexual attraction is palpable but neither one made any movement to attract the other’s attention. When Mandy’s roommates and their significant others leave town for the week, Marc makes his move and the couple is quick make up for lost time. The mystery and suspense weaves itself from the beginning when Marc’s nightmares reveal the truth about happened in the past as Marc and Mandy begin to unravel the clues that have remained dormant in Marc’s mind. A search for the truth brings danger and threats to our leading couple.

The story line follows several paths including a small look at each of the couples from the previous installments including photographer Jake Lowell and his fiancé/model Kaz Kasanov; US Army major and Jake’s brother Ben Lowell, and his fiancé/PA Lola Monroe (Mandy’s sister); and Nate and Cassie Dunagan from the prequel novella-TANGLED- that can be found in the HOT ALPHAS anthology (May 2015).

AWAKENED is a story of romance and intrigue; betrayal and revenge; family and friends. The premise is fateful; the characters are passionate and colorful; the romance is intimate and affectionate. AWAKENED wraps up several loose ends between all of the couples, as well as the introduction of a new couple considered a part of the extended family. Kate Douglas’s INTIMATE RELATIONS series is engaging, enjoyable and will captivate your imagination.

Mandy has had a crush on Marc for years. Before he was ever rich or famous, she used to see this insanely hot geeky guy on a bike riding by the coffee shop every day but he never stopped in. When he became successful and was featured in popular magazines, she finally found out his name but she never expected her best friend's boyfriend to be Marc's best friend and to bring him to her home one day. Their friends have been trying to play matchmaker for Mandy and Marc ever since, but they needed some time alone to figure out how to get there on their own.

When Kaz and Jake go overseas and Lola and Ben have to travel to the East Coast, Mancy and Marc finally find that alone time. She thinks Marc doesn't find her attractive because he all but ignores her in any way that could be considered flirting, but it couldn't be further from the truth. Marc is haunted by nightmares that terrify him and he is worried he could have hurt someone. He doesn't want to chance bringing anyone else he cares about into his life in case he finds out a horrible truth about himself. With their few days alone though, the walls come tumbling down and he finds himself telling her everything. Rather than running as far and as fast as she can, Mandy stands by him and convinces him to see a hypnotherapist to help figure out his dreams. What he learns sets him on a mission for justice and revenge.

By his own admission, Marc is much better with software than people, but he has a talent for surrounding himself with the best kind of people imaginable anyway. He and Mandy fall into an easy relationship with strong feelings that belies the short amount of time they have known each other. Marc may not have blood relatives aside from his estranged father, but his closest friends have become all the family he needs. Jake, Ben, Kaz and Lola may be off in other parts of the world but they are still included throughout the story thanks to modern technology. Old friend FBI agent Ted makes an appearance and finds an unexpected connection of his own with one of Marc's most trusted employees as he helps Marc in his search for truth and closure. Cassie and Nate also play important parts in the story as his search leads him to wine country not too far from the Intimate vineyards.

The plot kept me engaged throughout and I loved how all of the characters from previous books in the series were integrated. I am not normally a big fan of insta-love though, and despite Marc and Mandy's connection, I can't deny that it stayed at the back of my mind throughout Awakened. Overall I really enjoyed this series with its elements of action, suspense and romance as well as the friendship and family bonds forged by this group of characters and would recommend reading these books in order for the full experience.

“Awakened” by Kate Douglas is a romantic suspense story that does a wonderful job of tying in with the two books that precede it yet provides its own mystery and suspense in a way that allows it to be read as a stand-alone story. I love the way the warmth that exists between the two main characters simmers until it explodes in a delicious combination of passion and love that allows each character to expand and become a strong half of a bond, just as has occurred with the others in their close-knit circle. There is a surprising secondary romance that blossoms as well and it is rewarding to see the connections continue to strengthen and expand. The interesting thing to me was the shift from Marcus being a somewhat shadowy figure with fingers in multiple projects to a person with intriguing (and sometimes heartbreaking) facets. The slightly eerie aspects to certain developments and the unexpected characters who aid in that journey make me hopeful there will be at least a spin-off with cameos from this group in the future. This was an excellent conclusion to an enjoyable trilogy and I can’t wait to find out what else is percolating in this intriguing author’s imagination.

This the final story in the trilogy that includes “Intimate” and “Redemption”, and centers on Marcus (Marc) Reed and Mandy Monroe, who have become accustomed to being roommates during the momentous events detailed in the prior two books. For some reason, although their friends and family have managed to pair up, they are both single and not pursuing the attraction that simmers between them. Mandy finally braves her fear of rejection, only to discover that Marc is harboring secrets that may make it impossible for them to ever have a deeper relationship. Fortunately, Mandy is quiet but determined, and she is determined to help the man who has become so important to her, whether he likes it or not.

Mark had dreamed many times of a man killing a woman he didn’t know who they were or when this happened but the man had his eyes. Mandy was interested in Mark but he showed no interest in her. Mandy and her sister Lola hadn’t really been apart, they had been alone so much as kids it was like they raised themselves. Now Lola was off to D C with Ben her boyfriend. Mandy had lusted after Mark for years and when they finally met she fell in love with him. Mandy had worked at a coffee shop and with no warning the owner closed it. Mandy had worked at the coffee shop for seven years. Mark felt bad for Mandy and he held her in his arms like he wanted to since the day he met Mandy he just couldn’t let her know for her own protection. Mark needed Mandy more then he had ever needed or wanted anything in his life. Ben was Mark’s best friend. Before actually meeting Mark Mandy had seen Mark pedaling past the coffee shop a lot and Mark became her dream guy. Then Mark’s home burnt down and he moved in with them. Mark ends up telling Mandy everything including the nightmares and his fears. Mandy stands by Mark and convinces Mark to see a Hypnotherapist to help him figure out his dreams. Mark had an old friend Ted who is with the FBI and he helps Mark search for the truth as well as closure. Mark had thought he had hurt someone but in reality it was his father killing his mother.
I hadn’t read the previous two books but I will. This was a well written story with a very good plot. I really liked it when Mandy and Mark came together although it went from friends to being in love a little too quick for me. But otherwise I didn’t have any problems with this story. I loved the characters and the suspense and action. I also love the ins and outs of this story and I highly recommend.

This amazing hot and sexy Intimate Relations series is for all readers it includes danger, love, mystery, love of family and HEA's. Appropriately named this series has some very hot love scenes that will curl your toes and heat you up.

Awakened finally gives the reader Marc's story. Marc is a present figure in every book of the Intimate Relations series and as a reader he intrigued me with his sexy laidback personality.

I was enthralled with the authors use of hypnosis to solve Marc's nightmares/dreams and she does an magnificent job of incorporating this ideology into the storyline. The believable sequence of his progression through solving these nightmare opens up the plot to a suspenseful read where he frantically works to keep Mandy safe from his enemy.

Mandy is cute and faithful. She is one of those characters that believes in a person in spite of what she hears. Personally she is rare as most people are suspicious first and trust much later after proven innocent. I liked the fact that she is smart without being too pushy and that she knows exactly what she wants and is able to weather all the storms in confidence.

Other key characters are Theo Hadley, Marc's business manager and Ted Robinson, the FBI agent from Redemption (Intimate Relations #2). Both of these strong men add another element to this already intriguing storyline.

I recommend this read for people who love a sexy suspenseful read and give it 5 STARS.

I have enjoyed Kate Douglas' books in the past and this one is no different. Mandy lives in the same house as her sister, Lola, and her boyfriend, Ben, who is best friends with Marc. Marc happens to live with them. Mandy has had a crush on Marc since the first time she saw him riding his old motorcycle through town years earlier. Like Mandy, Marc has had a thing for her, but he thought she wasn't interested so he kept his distance. Their friends all left for various trips leaving Marc and Mandy together.

Marc is having nightmares of a man killing a woman, except he's not sure who the woman is only that he's blacked out and he maybe responsible for her death. Mandy convinces Marc to go to a hypnotherapist who helps to retrieve those memories, its actually his father killing his mother. With Mandy's help and encouragement, he's able to get closure and see his father for who he really is.

Marc and Mandy's story was full of suspense, action, and love. They're willing to do whatever it takes for each other. This story to me was a love story but also about 8 people who created their own family and how much they need each other. Even though I have not read the first two books of this series I was still able to get a good idea of the character's personalities and dynamics. This was a well written story, with character growth and family dynamics. I was glad that Marc was able to find the truth and get closure.

Awakened by Kate Douglas is book three of an excellent romantic suspense series. This is one of her best series in my humble opinion. I enjoy the romantic suspense by Ms. Douglas much more than her paranormal series, so I was happy to see her continue to expand in this genre. While Awakened is pretty much a stand-alone the previous two couples are involved in the story of Marc and Mandy. Plus, if you have read the others you could see the connection in the relationships between all.

Awakened begins with quite a twist that gives this story an added dangerous suspenseful quality. It certainly caught my interest and held it throughout the story. The plot is even balanced between the steamy chemistry and the action between Marc and Mandy. Mandy can be too trusting which is keeping with the character development from earlier books when she was a supporting character. Marc is much more of a tortured soul than I had previously thought. Of the two, he is the more interesting; I really became invested in him finding peace that he needed. I am sorry to see this series end but hope that Ms. Douglas will continue to pin romantic suspense.

Highly recommend to fans of romantic suspense with twisted villains and flawed heroes.

Marcus Reed is tormented by violent dreams. He needs to know if they are really suppressed memories. Did he really strangle a woman with his bare hands? Mandy, his friend and lover, is there to help him. He cares for her and wants to make sure that it's safe for them to be together. Marc is such a wonderful hero. He's kind and caring, but unsure of himself when it comes to love. His father is a cruel and greedy man who doesn't care for his son. Now that Marc is wealthy he wants his money. His mother left her young son without a goodbye. Or did she? Mandy is sweet and loves working with people. Her outgoing personality is different from Marc's, but they fit together so well. They are an amazing couple. When Marc's dreams reveal that his mother was murdered by his father, I couldn't stop reading. I needed to know if they can get justice for his mother after 30 years? Kate Douglas did an amazing job. The story is well written and suspenseful. I loved the hint of the paranormal when Marc and Mandy hear his mother. I loved seeing characters from previous stories in the Intimate Relations series. Everything comes together. I loved how they all had each other's back and formed their own family. I enjoy the writing of Kate Douglas. Her romantic suspense stories are addictive.

Once again, Douglas has blown me away with another great story. I do want to say this though — I actually haven’t read all of the books in this series yet, but I wasn’t lost at all when it came to Marc and Mandy’s story. So on that note, I would say that for me personally, this wasn’t a true series and can be read as a standalone.

But, enough of all of that. Back to the story!

I really was shocked at how much I enjoyed this story because it started out with a sexy start, but this book ended up being a lot more than just a book filled with sex. Of course, Marc and Mandy have some great chemistry and you could really feel that throughout the book. But I really liked how Mandy was there for Marc, even when he thought she would leave.

This book does have a fair bit of suspense and drama happening in it, which was done in a great way because it wasn’t overdone by any means, but it was done in a way that kept the story and suspense going.

The amount of details that went into this book were done extremely well also. I didn’t feel like I couldn’t understand what was going on, it was explained in a way that I could follow along and not feel confused.

Overall, once again I’m completely pleased with this author’s book and I can’t wait to read more from Douglas in the future.

**This book was given to me by Netgalley in exchange for an honest review**

Unfortunately, with this being book 3 in the series, I felt a little lost. Yes, I suppose this could be considered a stand-alone and perhaps it isn't fair to jump into the middle of a series and then say negative things when I'm obviously missing important previous events and plot build up from the first 2 books...but, I've read enough books this way to know when it matters and when it doesn't. With this one, it mattered.

The story itself was interesting and there were several elements I liked; however, there really wasn't much suspense or conflict. Everything that could have been a problem or a conflict worked itself out on the very first try. No waiting, no build-up.

As for out H and h, I found the dialogue between the two a bit stilted and the sex scenes seemed almost like they were written by a teenager. Their very first sexual encounter Marc tells Mandy he'd like to see her with his child. Really?

Near the end there is a paranormal aspect that aids in saving their lives. That didn't work for me either.

I realize I'm being a little harsh with this one; It really did have potential, but overall my thoughts are that it was cheesy--hence my 3 star rating.

Awakened by Kate Douglas is book three and the conclusion of her Intimate Relations series. Focusing on the characters, barista Mandy Monroe and entrepreneur Marcus Reed.

Mandy has had a crush on Marcus before she even knew who he was. When he was just some sexy stranger riding his bike past her coffee shop. However, when Marcus moves in with her, her sister Lola, and Lola's fiancée (Marcus' friend) Ben, after his apartment catches on fire, Mandy soon realizes she's fallen in love with him.

For Marcus, Mandy is everything he's ever wanted in a woman. But there is something in his past that haunts his dreams. Will it also stop him from being with Mandy?

I enjoyed reading Awakened. Marcus and Mandy have a great connection and the scenes between them are romantic. There is some suspense and mystery mixed in especially surrounding Marcus' past, which move the story forward. Plus, my favorite part that I liked about the book is that the couples from the previous books are also in this book and we see the conclusions to their stories as well.

Overall, I recommend reading Awakened and can't wait to read more from Ms. Douglas.

I got this book from net gallery for an honest review.

Mandy has been lusting after Marc for years but when her flat mates take a vacation, she is completely alone with Marc for a week. Marc is sexy, gorgeous and rich but most importantly he is a down to earth guy. He can't possibly be interested in her, a barista - he's way out of her league - or is he?

Marc has been attracted to Mandy from the moment he set eyes on her, she's special and too good for him. He's haunted by his terrifying nightmares and bringing Mandy into his bed might be dangerous for her especially, when he has his black out episodes.

These two have great chemistry and I liked how comfortably their interact with each other. Mandy is caring, supportive and doesn't hesitate to help Marc.

Marc is suppressing traumatising memories. His past is affecting his daily life but his nightmares make him genuinely believe to be a murderer. Will he learn the truth behind his nightmares?

This book had it all: romance, mystery, suspense and murder. I throughly enjoyed the book

Can Mandy & Marc make a go of their relationship all will it be best to stay friends? They have both given each other space but it is the right time now for them.
Marc can't believe that Mandy feels the same but he is worried as the nightmares are getting worse and he doesn't want to hurt her as he knows that he has already hurt someone. Mandy knows that there is something going on and when Marc tells her she knows that he needs help.
What they find surprises them but it makes sense to Marc and now he knows that his mother didn't abandon him all those years ago.
Can he prove that his father did it and why did he let Marc believe the worst. Marc's father wants what is his and he will stop at nothing to get it. Can Marc get through this and keep Mandy safe?
Love that the others still get their part in the book and that new friends make an appearance. Another great book in the series. I received a copy in exchange for an honest review via Netgalley.

NUMBER OF HEARTS: 3 1/2
Awakened was the final installment in the Intimate Relations trilogy. This was a good ending to a good series. It has been fun to watch Marc and Mandy dance around each other over the last two books. It was good to finally see them act on their lust. It was also so great to see how strong Mandy is. Marc couldn’t have asked for a better partner.
If you haven’t read this series and you enjoy romance suspense. You will enjoy this series.
I really can’t wait to see what Kate has in store for us next.

Awakened is the story of Marc and Maddie. Maddie has had a crush on Marc for over seven years when she first saw him outside of the coffee shop where she worked. When things went bad with her sister, and she met Ben. Marc was brought into her life. Then his place burned down and he moved in with Lola, Maddie, and Ben. Of course that wasn't hard or anything.

Marc feel for Maddie the first time he saw her. The problem ? He's not wanted to jeopardize anything and has kept himself away from her. Now though they will be all alone in the house while Lola and Ben are away.

There is chemistry, mystery, murder, new friends, and a whole lot more. I read a short story on Nate and Cassie and was excited to see them in this book. I really liked it and think I'll have to get the first two.

Marcy had been in love with the guy who rode by the coffee shop she worked in and to find out Marc was her sisters boss was perfect. Marc and Mandy feel in love right from the start but Marc was afraid he would hurt her because he kept having reoccurring dreams of him killing a woman. When Mandy suggested he see a hypnotherapist he figured what could go wrong, but it turns out it wasn't Marc who killed a woman it was his dad killing his mom.
Really good story that the characters get you involved as if you are part of it and it is so nice to see how Marc and Mandy feed off each other. Romantic and danger all combined and it can be read as a standalone.

This book does not work as a stand alone. I had not read the earlier 2 books in the series and was completely lost.

Also, the hero and heroine had apparently known each other for a while before this book started. So in the first few pages, they immediately sleep together. But only after he thinks of her as petite, and a pixie about 5 times in the first few pages.

There was no build up. I felt like I didn't know either of the characters. They immediately slept together, and went looking for condoms because she wasn't ready to be a mom yet. Hero immediately thought she should have his baby. Heroine said she'd like to have his baby too. WHAT?

Then the condom broke, and they're both like, it's ok, we want a baby.

Don't read this book.
