Good Night Fish starts with two kids looking into a fish aquarium. The authors take you to different fish in the ocean, including angelfish, groupers, and white sharks. They also explore different fish in rivers: largemouth bass, catfish, salmon, and piranhas. One page even says, “Good afternoon, great aquarium!” and has a bunch of children looking at a lot of fish. This book is great to learn the names of different fishes. I would take it one step farther when my son is older, and have him look up any of the fishes that look interesting or unique to him, so he can learn more about them. Overall, it was a great book, and Emmett enjoyed me reading it to him on the computer.
I recognized the "Good night, [Place]" format immediately, and I thought it was a strange format to apply to the subject of fish, especially when they are underwater and there is no discernable change from day to night. That said, the illustrations are clear and sciency, and the text shares interesting facts about sea creatures (not strictly fish), some of which I've never seen.
