A triangle that, IMHO, is so intrinsic to the main character's arc and journey. One boy is her astrological soul mate. The other is her astrological downfall. He challenges her entire belief system, forcing her to choose between her heart and the heavens.

People put their faith in a lot of things. Science, religion, music, friendship, love. Wilamena Carlisle puts her faith in the stars. But when Wil fears that her Fifth House—the house of relationships and love—is doomed, she’s on a mission to find her perfect astrological match before time runs out. Problem is, she falls for two brothers—one whom the charts deem right, and the other who couldn’t be more wrong. And Wil made a promise to honor her mother’s legacy, so she’s not taking any chances w ...more

One girl. Two brothers. An astrological chart. Love. Fate. A promise to a deceased mother. Darcy Woods brings you all this and more in her gorgeous debut, Summer of Supernovas. It took me about two seconds to fall in love with Wil, the quirky and unique main character who made me laugh time and again. Wil is unlike any protag I’ve met in the pages of contemporary YA and positively addicting. Readers will love Wil’s passion and confused heart. She’s hilarious, with all the idiosyncrasies that mak ...more

I guess I'm a writer or something, but I cannot adequately express with words the feelings this book made me feel! You know how Iron Man has that Arc Reactor that makes his heart all bright and glowy? THAT is what Summer of Supernovas did to me, but instead of Science causing the glow, it was SWOON.

I will now allow Tangled gifs to say what I cannot:

The main character, Wil, is funny and warm and stylish and kick-ass and I loved her and want to be her best friend!

The love interests (and one in p

Wilamena Carlisle’s mom was an expert astrologer, so to say that stars are her thing would be an understatement. She grew up hearing her mom talk about how they can tell her everything she needs to know. Now she’s ready to figure out her Fifth House, the house of relationships and she only has 22 days to find ‘the one’ and she’s got his astrological make-up, who he should be… and definitely who he should NOT be, now it’s just a matter of finding someone to fit the ma

So many happy sighs right now. This book is such a beautiful, romantic read. Epic love triangle, so much swoon, and a main character whose growth and journey is really lovely. This is a story about trusting your gut, falling in love, grief, and having faith. Countless wonderful moments in Wil's story! ...more
I downloaded this because Christina was pushing it at me daily. And I'm so so so glad she did.

Love love loved Wil and Grant and Seth. It's not exactly a triangle, but there are two swoony boys who say and do some of the sweetest things. And let's not forget the awesome secondary characters in Irina and Manny. I would happily devour a companion novel from either of them.

I did get a bit irritated at some of the things Wil chose to do, but her snark helped me overlook them. The plot may have been

I'm glad that other readers enjoyed this, but it was really not for me.

My take: this felt too much like a script for a high concept rom com, from the meet cute at the beginning (the main character is sitting on a bridge, contemplating life, and the love interest thinks she's about to jump to her death and calls 911) to the very forced premise (the main character's dead mother told her that astrology should rule her life and that men of a certain astrological sign should be avoided at all costs.

A unique and beautiful read! When you finish this book, you'll have a totally fresh understanding of what it means to be truly "star-crossed"--in life, and in love.

Definitely do NOT miss this wonderfully unpredictable and beautifully satisfying story due to fears of a dreaded, dull love Triangle! A triangle exists in one-dimensional space, and this book has so many dimensions, I think it moved out of the realm of astrology and into physics. (Maybe it's a pyramid--deep, mystical, well-built, with

I absolutely LOVED this book! I read it over the course of two days -- I even changed my dinner plans to an easy crockpot meal just so I had more time to read SoS!

Wil actually reminded me of my superstitious self, so I totally related to her. Not only that -- the guys! Swoon! This is a 2016 must-read!

SUMMER OF SUPERNOVAS was just as charming as you might expect about a headstrong young woman, Wilamena (Wil) Carlisle, who plots her future according to her astrological chart. Believing this summer to be her last shot at finding true love until the next time the stars align in nearly a decade, Wil is determined to find her one true love. Naturally, just as Wil decides she's meant to find true love, she stumbles across two boys: one who's perfect on paper, the other who makes her heart sing, but ...more

Wil is a girl who’s always checking the stars for answers to life’s questions. As someone who also tends to look for signs to show me I’m on the right path, I totally got this. But in Wil’s case, the astrological charts and signs she’s reading conflict with what her heart’s telling her. And I totally understood how devastating this can be. It’s so easy to get caught up in what you think your future should be, especially when a gorgeous guy appears and proves himself to be your perfect match. But ...more

I'm not going to lie: I signed up to read an advanced readers copy as soon as I read the blurb about this book. As an otherwise sensible Capricorn, I cop to reading my horoscope daily and keeping an eye out for mercury in retrograde. The heroine of this book, Wil, does the same.

Wil has 22 days to find the love of her life, the love pre-destined in the astrology chart her late mother prepared for her on the day she was born. Her mother ignored her own chart when it came to love, with disastrous r

This was a fantastic, witty YA romance that left me breathless. Manny was just so ... wonderfully Manny. Everyone needs a Manny in their lives.

I love Darcy Wood's writing style. She had me engaged from the first page and I fell in love with all of the characters immediately, even set-in-her-ways grandma. There was humor, heartache, and a shattering of beliefs. It's amazing how much one's life can change when we let go of our beliefs.

I can't imagine anyone not liking this book. It's romance but

If you like romance (and getting caught in the rain...), offbeat, stylish heroines; delicious cakes and pastries; and your most-used emojis are the cat-with-hearts-for-eyes, the magical crystal ball and a selection of hearts in different colours, Summer of Supernovas is the book you'll be clutching in your hand one warm evening, probably while lying on the bonnet of a vintage car, gazing up at the night sky and sighing wistfully a lot.

This is a gloriously fun story!

Wilamena Carlisle loves the night sky, so of course she climbs up a water tower for better viewing, and of course a sensitive guy races up to stop her jumping, and of course he is afraid of heights... did I mention this story is fun?

Wil's faithful stars tell her she has a small window of opportunity to find Mr. Right, so she sets off astrology chart in hand to find her match. But while the charts point to his brother, the person Wil can't stop thinking about is G

It's official: Wil is now one of my all-time favorite YA heroines!

I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review, and it was the perfect pick-me-up read for a chilly winter's day, making me dream of summer. It would also be a perfect beach read. Or a perfect any time read!

This book evoked such strong feelings as it reminded me, through Wil, what it's like to feel the hope, fears, confusion, and sheer rushing joy of falling in love. (Wil's love of astrology

This book was one of the cutest contemporary novels I have read in a long time. I loved the introspection of how people can hold so tightly onto something that they forget to live for themselves. I also loved that while this was about romance, when it came down to it, it was about Wil's love for her friends and family as well.

I am such a sucker for cute romances, especially when people try to change their destiny or think th

But from the first scene at the water tower to the last scene... not telling you that part ... it was a coming of age/ romance that captured my attention and my heart. This book put stars in my eyes! Woods infuses her characters and words with so much sparkle. There is a lovely uniqueness to the main character, Wil (Wilamena), that just drew me in--from her vintage-loving style, to her astrological fixation. The heart of the story is deeply centered, a look at loss and letting go, portrayed honestly and with a sweet vulnerability, through Wil's humor-filled struggle to find love. A quick and fluffy read that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside, Summer of Supernovas centers around teenage love, as well as how your beliefs can sometimes help you heal, and other times, they can hold you back. The opening scene of this book is probably one of the most hilarious things I've ever read in a YA contemporary, and it really pulled me into the story right away. Mostly that she has a small window, right now, to find the right person and if she doesn't, then she has to wait years before the house will be so

I really, really, really hope this gets adapted for TV or film. It was SO cute and charming, but there was also a surprising amount of depth when it came down to it. The book has a lot to say about fate, belief, love, and family, and no character was safe from learning hard lessons about all of these.

I must admit, I'm a sucker for a love triangle, especially of the "right guy for you/wrong guy for you" variety, and this book did really interesting things with that trope (because I SORT OF LOVED
