Willow Ryman is as crazy about Scotland as her friends, but she’s on a tighter budget. So during their visit, she opts to stay at a shabby local hostel instead of a cozy B&B. When the owners abruptly decide to shut down for renovations, Willow is left out in the cold—until while exploring the countryside, Willow meets a handsome, friendly, kilt-clad fisherman. This is a second in a series about 3 friends from diverse childhoods reuniting and experiencing a vacation of a life time. All of them are taken with the romance, adventure, the lure of Jamie Fraser, strength of Claire of the books and now TV show, Outlander.

The cover blurb of this book almost reads like my life: woman falls in love with Outlander, travels to Scotland to live out fantasies. Okay, so I am already married and wasn't going to look for my own Jaime, but ever since I first visited Scotland back in 2014, I felt a connection to that land. Then, I discovered the Outlander books and show, and my love was intensified. "Scot of My Dreams" is the second book in this Kilted Heroes series of ladies living out my dreams, and is my first by Janice

Dnf @ 25% I liked the first book in this series but this one was a little flat for me. The idea was good but I found myself wondering when things would start to pick up. I had a hard time getting into the characters. Overall at this point I decided to give this a rest in hopes I pick it back up soon.

I've never read Outlander nor have I seen the show, I know about the premise of it and I have to say I've been thoroughly impressed by Janice Maynard's Hot for the Scot series in which three childhood friends travel to Scotland hoping to meet their very own highlander. They arrive in Scotland and split up, each going their own way for a month to make their own adventure without internet, cell phones or other technology. I loved the first book ...more

The Kilted Heroes series continues with Scot of my Dreams. I received an eArc from NetGalley in exchange for honest review. Scot of my Dreams is Willow's story. The three friends split up and follow their own paths in Scotland. Willow stayed near the town where they came in on the train. Interestingly enough she also meets her Scot, Bryce, when walking near water when she was accosted by his giant, lovable dog. Willow has a very different background from her pals after they were moved away from

I loved this book. Since I am a BIG Outlander fan, I loved all the references to the books and show. The fact that she was in Inverness was really neat. The book kept me interested and was hard to put down. Loved the romance and ending. I trully didn't want it to end. I think everyone will enjoy it but specifically my Outlander family.

I liked this one better than the first in the series even though I rated them both 3 stars.
The whole "Outlander" obsession still bothers me because it makes me care less about the heroine since she keeps comparing REAL LIFE to a romance novel. I don't know why this series is rubbing me the wrong way--I typically love Scottish heroes in this genre.
And I knew the "Outlander" connection before I started the series, but I guess I expected more mature thinking and choices from women in their 30s. T ...more

Scot of My Dreams by Janice Maynard is a magical journey readers won't forget. I was instantly dragged into Hayley's travel. She is forced onto a trip most would dream about taking. Her friends forced her. They all love Outlander series which inspired their trip to Scotland. One of the three friends is wealthy and paid for their travel. The other two only had to bring enough to eat and for their own hotel room. I enjoyed the women's banter as they all fussed on explorations and embracing for a b

I won this book through Goodreads Giveaways. I really enjoy this short romance story. Traveling to Scotland and finding your own Jamie Fraser is exactly what Willow wanted to do. But could she really do it? Enters Bryce a Laird of a Scottish castle with a sister needing friendship. Can they find romance together or are they just going to be friends??

What a dream...

I have been a fan -- okay, a wild-eyed worshiper -- of Diana Gabaldon's OUTLANDER series since I got the first book club edition back in the early 90's. James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser is my Hero of Heroes, and Jamie/Claire one of my all-time OTP's (One True Pairing -- my #1 is still Buffy/Angel 4EVA. ;) ) I re-read the entire series from beginning to end, including Lord Lord John books and novellas, every time there's a new book coming out.

I have to admit, I unexpectedly fell in love with Scot of My Dreams, ironic, because almost the same thing happened when I read Outlander, the book and TV show that inspired Janice Maynard’s latest novel. Bryce and Willow’s story starts a little slow, the beginning a set-up of Willow’s tale of how she and her two best friends take a trip of a lifetime to Scotland to find their own Jamie Fraser. Though Willow is as far from a romantic as possible and really has a hard time relaxing because she’s

I kinda wanted to hate this book. The cover was a little too cutesy for me so I was expecting a syrupy love story. That’s not what I got at all, I was pleasantly surprised and delighted! Scot Of My Dreams was really honest and touching. Was it sweet? Sure, but not in a bad way. I am going to read the previous book in the series right now and put the next book on my TBR list right away!

Thanks to Kensington and Netgalley for the book in exchange for a honest review!
Have you watched Outlander? If you have you've probably wished for the same adventure to befall you that Claire has been given. If not then what are you waiting for?!?! Hot Scotsman saving the girl and they fall in love! Sure, sure there are a ton of other things that go on in the show and the books they're based on but the gyst is this: time travel and romance.

Scot of my Dreams is the second book in the "Kilted Heroes" series, and the first book I have read by this author. Although technically a part of a series each book can easily be read as a standalone as they all occur at the same time, but with the three main women being in separate places in Scotland, and they don't have contact with each other.

Scot Of My Dreams by Janice Maynard is the second in this whimsical series concerning three American friends chasing the adventure and romance in the beautiful Scottish landscape. I really like hard working cynical Willow, completely understanding her realistic and not sentimental view of life. Of the three, she is the one who needed to enjoy not just this trip but the journey of life in general. I could say the same for Bryce McBrae, who was better than any fictional character. Wait a minute, h

This is my first book from Janice. I enjoyed this story and will keep an eye on finding more. I am a fan of Scotland and enjoyed the Outlander inserts here! I liked her story line. This is a good read. Willow left her hair salon to join two friends to go to Scotland for a month. They will then go separately and only contact at night. Willow goes to Inverness and meets Bryce through his dog. Spoiler. She stayed in a Hostel. Then she has to leave when they are going to close the Hostel. Spoiler. B

Willow Ryman and her two best friends are in Scotland on the adventure of a lifetime, maybe hoping to find the man of their dreams like the heroine in their favorite TV show. While out exploring the countryside, Willow discovers she may have found that man in Bryce McBrae, a handsome man that comes to her aid after an incident with his dog. However, he ends up rescuing her in more ways than one when the hostel she‘s staying at decides to close down for renovat ...more
Loved this story. If you are a Outlander fan you will enjoy the references to the books and tv series. I hooked me from the first page. Three friends head to Scotland in search of their own Jamie Fraser. I am like Heck Yea I want to go too. I instantly feel hard for Bryce. Who doesn't love a man in a Kilt and a Laird to boot? I found myself grinning the entire time I read this story and with a few AAhhh... moments to add to it.

This is the second story in the Kilted Heroes series and it takes place concurrently with the previous book, Hot for the Scot. This is Willow's story and I found it just as cute as the first book in the series. From the moment Willow meets our hero, Bryce, sparks fly. However, the romance building was a bit slower paced for reasons you'll find out in the story, it was still a very enjoyable read. I can't wait for the final story in the series so that I can read the culmination of these three fri

This the first book that I have read in this series. I must admit I haven't seen any of the Outlander shows but I know about them. I could actually see three friends setting out on an adventure to find their own Highlanders. I enjoyed Willow and Bryce as the main characters. Their interactions were fun and his sister added to the story. I did however feel that the ending was rushed a bit and wanted to see her friend come to meet everyone. I will read the other books in the series and others by t

Janice Maynard is an author I have read since I was sixteen. Her male characters are gruff, sexy and larger than life. They leave an impression. I received an ARC of Scot of My Dreams in exchange for an honest review. There's something about a guy with an accent that sends tingles up and down my spine. Is it worth traveling halfway around the world to find? Never say never. Willow is the type of person I want to be. She's loyal, adventurous and a dreamer. I find it enjoyable to escape the real w

This is the second story in the Kilted Heroes series and tells the story of Willow Ryman, who owns a stylist shop back in Atlanta, and Bryce MacBrae, the laird of Dunvarstone Castle. It's an accidental occurrence when Brodie, a large dog, knocks her down near a stream. Willow soon becomes more involved than she thought possible in the lives of Bryce and his sister Abigail and wonders if all of it is merely a dream.

Ofcourse I just had to read this book because I love books that takes place in Scotland and because I LOVE Outlander books and tv show series.
It didn't take me long to read it because it wasn't very long. I enjoyed this book. It is well written and predictable but Ofcourse most romance novels are predictable.
This is book 2 in a series and you can read this as a stand alone but I do want to read the other books because I want to know what happened to the other women on their trip and all that.

Willow and Bryce's story takes place in Scotland, near the town of Inverness and his family's castle, Dunvarstone. I enjoyed the historical details the author included, including Willow visiting the site of the Battle of Culloden.

Willow can describe her man perfectly, “Bryce was a man’s man. Commanding. Mature. Capable. At his physical peak. Yet unlike so many macho men, he had the grace to admit when he was wrong." Bryce could be a poetic man, “I do like it, lass. You’re a dark angel tonight, an incandescent, sexual being drawing men like bees to the hive. But I like knowing I’ll be the only one touching what’s underneath that red gown.” I enjoyed this book I loved Bryce. ...more
This one was just an ok read for me. Maybe if I were on the Outlander bandwagon it would have held more appeal. It was very well written though and the characters were interesting. There is lots of easy banter between Willow and Bryce which made the story enjoyable. Overall not a bad read, just not my cup of tea.

Janice Maynard came to the writing life early! When her third grade short story, “The Princess and the Robbers”, won a red ribbon in a school arts fair, Janice was hooked. She followed up that early success with a more commercial piece in the sixth grade… “Why My Mom Loves To Drink Coke”. No advance for that one, but she won a six-pack of Coke… remember those great little bottles?
