* Blood & Rust is a second chance, enemies to friends to lovers tale! *

- Butler -

"The bad boy.
The fuck up.
The thief.

That was me.

Once a king,
Now a wanderer.
I’d thrown the best parts of me away, over and over again.
I was reckless.
Still am.
I’d been exiled.
Twice.
I did my time.
I’ve cleaned up.
Well, sort of.
I got plans.
Yeah, good ones.

Then I ran into her.

A bolt of lightning
Startling
Unsettling
Breathtaking
And so out of reach.

The woman I once scorned years ago
is now the woman I can’t stop thinking about, dreaming about.
I need what I didn’t think I’d ever need again.
I want and want and want. And it’s torture.

Now she’s the epicenter of the war I’ve triggered,
and the battle in my rusted heart.
I may be as reckless as I ever was,
but I’m determined as f*ck.

To hell with it.
I want it all."

April 2021 - even better the second time around. All the stars

This was exceptionally beyond what I had hoped for, and as good as Random & Rare which is my favourite of the series ... okay was.

I had no idea just how brilliantly CP would turn Butler's character around, she blew my mind. The writing is absolutely gorgeous, nothing is rushed, it's rich in description without overload, it hooked me from word one and I struggled to put the book down. Butler and Tania have fast become two of my favourite characters, I dare you to read this book and not fall in love with both of them. The slow burn, long ago enemies - to friends - to so in love with each other was paced to perfection without any ridiculous drama and angst, yet plenty of suspense that had me scratching my head at times. I had a fair few "I did NOT see that coming" moments, and I love those in a book.

Whilst I loved the characters and their story I really loved how in depth CP went with the club goings on ... the subterfuge, the plotting and planning and most of all how Butler worked this to his advantage to get his redemption. And he did that with bells on.

An absolutely brilliant addition to a series that has become one of my all time favourites, and has left me desperate for Finger's book. Man oh man, I can't WAIT to see where CP takes him.

Blood & Rust is the prime example of why I love reading Cat Porter's series. I swear I'm her badass MC junkie fan! The woman positively can write, capture your heart and leave you craving for more and I have to wait until Finger's story? Ahhhhh hate being patient lol! Butler and Tania's story was breath taking, heartwarming and priceless. A real insight of good communication, trust and flaming hot chemistry. What I wouldn't give to have that kinda love. Anyhoo recommended to all hardcore MC readers. Enjoy!

I seriously think Cat topped Random & Rare for me. It’s so close, like neck and neck, I am so torn! Blood & Rust exceeded my expectations and frankly I am in awe of Ms. Porter’s talent. I have screamed from the roof tops for quite some time about how much I love this series. The attention to detail is astounding and it is done so beautifully. Ms. Porter knows how to “take you there” in her writing without bogging the story down. Another plus in this series is the older characters; I love reading about people around my age that I can relate to. These people are honest about who they are, they have learned the hard lessons of youth, and are done with games. Butler and Tania were made for each other and they were meant to come together at this point in their lives.

I have fallen in love with every one of the heroes in the Lock & Key series and from Butler’s introduction in book one I was hooked. He has suffered through tremendous loss and overcome addiction so he has definitely come a long way. He started his path to redemption in Iron & Bone and in Blood & Rust he is finding his way back home to the Jacks. He crosses paths with Tania (Grace’s bestie) and this starts their journey. I was so surprised by the history these two had. In their youth they weren’t right for each other but now that Butler has overcome some of his battles, and Tania has walked away from her marriage, they are ready. But of course there are some obstacles in their way.

Tania was a truly fabulous character. I freaking love the heroines in this series; they are strong, fierce, and not afraid to go for what they want. Tania is coming to the end of her marriage. In reality it was over long ago but she is done. She is ready to give her all to fulfilling her dream of opening her own shop and doing what she wants to do with no apologies. I loved the progression of Butler and Tania’s slow burn romance. The sexual tension about killed me with these two but it was worth the wait. One of the most surprising and wonderful aspects of the story was Tania’s connection to Finger. I freaking loved their relationship and I am dying to know more about Finger.

I don’t think there is anything better for me as a reader to find a series that pulls me in and won’t let go. I devoured Butler and Tania’s story and immediately dove back in to re-read some scenes. I highlighted like crazy and messaged my review partners to discuss. The story was executed so well and had so much good stuff I couldn’t possibly list it all. It is rich, vibrant, and I ate up every word and greedily wanted more. I can’t say enough about this series and Ms. Porter’s writing. BRAVO!!

P.S. I have claimed this book as mine. There were several things that spoke to me in the story and If you keep an eye out you might spot my cameo * wink wink *. So…..back off girls! Hahahaha!!

"You see something in me you think is worth cleansing, polishing, making shiny. Worth preserving, like one of your antiques. I'm an antique all right. Broken casting, rusty insides, faulty wiring."

BLOOD & RUST is one of those books that I read slowly because I didn't want it to end!! The fourth book in the Lock & Key series is a gorgeous, very adult and very sexy story of two souls who are looking for redemption and happiness. Cat Porter is hands-down one of my very favorite writers and she has bought yet another beautiful story to life.

I can't recommend this series highly enough. Filled with memorable characters, lasting relationships and incredible writing, each book is a treasure. So you could read BLOOD & RUST as a standalone, but these books are fantastic and intricately written so you will get a real flavor of the history of each character and of club life.

Tania and Butler are both looking for a fresh start in South Dakota. Butler has led a rough life, filled with terrible mistakes and tragedy. He is much older now, and is trying to rebuild the loyalty and trust of his brothers, He will do anything to work his way back into the good graces of the club, even if that means giving up his chance at love and happiness. He is a tragic figure, and he broke my heart!! One of the things I adore about Cat Port is that her protagonists are older and have lived a very full life.

Tania had a brief but unforgettable encounter with Butler years earlier. Now they are both trying to start new in Meager, South Dakota. Tania has left an empty and soulless marriage behind, and is finally pursuing her passion. She knows she behaved badly with Butler all those years before, but will he be bale to overcome his past demons and give her the love she deserves? Will Tania be able to overcome the alomst-insumountable obstacles that stand in the way of her happiness?

"We kissed like enemies clanging swords on a battlefield littered with our dead. We were the only survivors locked in the final battle, both of us knowing there would be no victors."

I absolutely fell in love with Butler!! No one writes a tortured hero like Cat Porter. He is very complex and truly believes that real love is outside his grasp. He has put aside his own personal happiness for the sake of the club. This is a slow-burn romance which only makes things all the sweeter when Butler and Tania finally get together. These are two very mature adults who know what they want and Butler is ALL about pleasing his queen Tania.

He still had that rugged rough and tumble exterior, but now, he was...intriguing. The kind of intriguing that was making my toes curl and my purse jump at this very moment.

The banter in this book is priceless and no detail is overlooked!! I loved how the setting of South Dakota is almost another character in the book. The scenery is described in very vivid detail. The ending for these characters was just perfect. If you are a fan of MC romance, then this entire series is a must-read!! Now I will wait impatiently for more stories from this incredible storyteller.

Java Girl's review posted at Guilty Pleasures Book Reviews

I honestly didn't think Cat Porter could fully redeem Butler for me, but I was so very wrong. Not only is he redeemed, but he has become my favorite of the Lock & Key series. That's saying quite a lot, considering how much I love Dig, Lock, and Boner.

When we first met Butler in Lock & Key, I thought he was disgusting; self-indulgent, self-destructive, and completely out of control. I knew a little about the why, but I never would have guessed at the whole story. I had a change of heart in Iron & Bone, when a clean and sober Butler reappeared, willing to put in the hard work to regain his brothers’ trust and respect. His loyalty and friendship, especially to Boner, as well as his obvious intelligence, went a long way to redeeming him for me. Now that I know the rest of his story, I have a newfound appreciation for the man he has become, and respect for his struggle to get there. Under that dangerous, bada$$ biker exterior is a loyal, sweet, flawed, caring man with a very big heart, who has learned to appreciate what he has in life.

Rarely have I connected with a female character like I did with Tania. There was just so much in her life that resonated with me. At times, I felt like Cat Porter was speaking directly to me, or about me. It really made me consider the choices I've made in my own life. I loved Tania’s spirit--her excitement and energy, her passion for her work, and her devotion to her family and her close circle of friends. The evolution of their relationship was slow, but worked for the people they are now, at their respective stages and situations in life.

For me, Butler and Tania just fit together, perfectly. The rich layers of their personalities made them come alive. The secrets they held brought a richness and depth, as well as a few surprises, to their story.

It's difficult for me to reconcile the life of violence and lawlessness of MC romance. Even though I love Dig and Boner, I had to put aside my revulsion at the acts of violence in their stories. I didn't find that to be the case in Blood & Rust. For me, Butler is more about alliances, relationships, strategy, patience, and setting up the long game. He's definitely more of a hero, than an antihero.

Watching the pieces fall into place, even when things don't go as planned, is one of the most delicious and satisfying parts of any Cat Porter book. As with all her work, the plot unfolds perfectly, the past and present mesh seamlessly to form a compelling story that stays with me long after the last page.

Porter has done it again. I've been looking forward to Butler's story and it exceeded my high expectations. Butler has a colorful past - from his brother, to his wife, Caitlyn, to Grace, the woman he always desired, to drug abuse, to his banishment.

This book is about redemption. I love how Porter didn't change the heart of Butler. He still wrestles with sobriety, he still misses Caitlyn and his brother and bears that guilt. But as we saw in Iron & Bone he started to make changes for the positive. He's welcomed back into the One-Eyed Jacks and he's done with the women. He now has an old lady, Nina. But not everything is as it seems. I love the progression of the storyline in this book. A LOT happens.

I equally loved Tania. She's a strong heroine. She's perfect for Butler. They have a lot in common and some serious chemistry. She's a good daughter and sister and friend. She was strong enough to recognize her marriage was over, that she wanted more. She gave up a prestigious career because she had dreams of making her love of salvaging into a business. And most of all, her mysterious past with Finger was revealed and it was glorious. Finger had his own revelations and I may have squealed out loud. I seriously hope nobody spoils this part for anyone. It's meant to be discovered on your own. But...Porter leaves some questions unanswered so I hope Finger's book is next.

Of course the previous couples are heavily involved. We learn the name of the baby. It's pretty badass. Miller's speech made me tear up. So much goodness. Amazing book. Amazing series. Unequivocally. Bravo, Ms. Porter. Bravo.

Reading Blood & Rust reminded me of driving down smooth roads with scenery that makes you want to stop and explore a bit and then suddenly finding yourself on twisty, turny, bumpy roads that give you that bottom dropped out feeling. I wouldn’t start reading this right before bed. You might just find yourself cussing Cat Porter’s name at 4 AM when you still can’t put the book down like I was.

No matter how much Butler’s behavior in Lock & Key disgusted me, I am now a huge Butler fan. I was worried he was going to do something I’d have a hard time getting past, but the man had a plan and several things weren’t as they seemed. He was sexy, sweet, badass, and loyal. He was also very broken, but doing everything he could to put the pieces of himself back together. Butler was determined, seems he not only wanted to redeem himself, he wanted to atone.

It surprised me that Tania was the heroine. I honestly figured she would end up with Finger since they definitely have a history and a mysterious connection. Tania’s at a crossroads, trying to figure out how to move on after dealing with a failed marriage. It took strength to make the decision to live life to the fullest and I admired this about her. I also loved what she decided to do with her life, taking the harder road but one that would ultimately make her happier. She did need to learn to give herself a break first, and get past the deep sense of failure she felt for not making her marriage work.

The MC politics in this book were front and center, adding a backdrop to the story that absolutely riveted me. Dig’s influence was again found throughout as Butler tried to make the alliances that Dig was attempting to put together all those years ago a reality. Once the action got started, it was nonstop, eliciting many a “Holy Crap” and “OMG, did that just happen?” comment from me.

Butler’s plans did not include a second chance at love for him, therefore, he was not in a position to pursue Tania for a good long while. This was somewhat frustrating to me, but the underlying suspense this brought to the story was worth the frustration. When they did finally get to a place to act on the sexual tension, it was intense and extremely hot.

Finger had a huge presence in this book and it could even be said that at times he stole the show from Butler. Some of his actions left me gobsmacked. Needless to say, I want his story now because I just know it is going to kick ass.

In the end, I think I may have loved Blood & Rust even more than I loved Lock & Key. This story about hitting rock bottom, clawing your way out, redeeming yourself and above all forgiving yourself had me waking up with the mother of all book hangovers and I loved every second of it.

I didn’t really like this one even tho there was no real cheating… still lots of talk of sex with other people but no actual cheating, sort of.

I just didn’t really like the story honestly. Didn’t really like Butler as a hero. Immature, reckless, playboy druggie man whore. Who is now in his mid 40s, so he better have grown up a little! Honestly that’s about it. Tania came around at a time when he’s grown up finally. Still can whine and bluster like a teenager, but at least he’s less impulsive than before.

So yeah, didn’t much care for either of them really. Which helps in some ways given I’m 30% into the next book now, and I’m getting more of the history between Tania and Finger… which… not a fan but I kinda get it.

So I have this crazy addiction to Cat Porters writing. This series has become one of my favourite Biker series to date.

I've been intrigued by Butler for as long as I can remember. His presence in each book has left me wanting so much more. He's a man scorn, damaged and afraid to live a life with love. Just the way I like them :)

Tania, I can't even begin to tell you how much this girl reminds me of myself. It's like Cat wrote her with me in mind. She's arty, she's crazy and she loves the fuck out of life.

Their story isn't hearts and flowers, it's raw and intense. It leaves a mark. I loved every minute!

But........

I need Finger's story next, in fact I need it now!!

Sort of second chance.
Other woman and man drama, some intimate scenes.
The couple don't really get together properly until the end.
Continues enemy plot through series, including history revealed through the series so best read in order.
HEA. As in HFN I assume the couple will feature in any future books.

Yes, yes, yes.....to everything in this book! Butler is redeemed so fully, at least in my opinion. There were so, so many lines that I highlighted, so many things that I just treasure about the way his story played out. His connection to Tania really made him re-evaluate how he was "living" and made him want to more than just exist.

And Tania....seriously, she is definitely one of my favorite female characters from a book. She is strong, but vulnerable; sturdy, yet fragile; and she is fierce when she needs to be. We get just a bit of her history and the way she's gone about her life since leaving Meager. We all know she's loyal, but I think you really get a sense of her depth of loyalty in this book, especially with the secrets she's been keeping.

Of course, we also get to see all of our favorites: Boner and Jill; Rae; Catch (Tanya's brother); and Grace and Lock. Lemme tell ya.....Lock's speech at his son's christening made me love him even more; the meaning behind their son's name was special and completely fitting to their lives.

This book just floored me....and if I'm being completely honest, I think it's my favorite in the series. Well done, Cat!

Cat Porter has really set the bar higher for me in what I look for in a book. I was almost in tears at the end of this book because the series came to an end. You always go through a sort of grieving at the end of a series, especially when the characters mean so much to you and touch you in ways you never dreamed. We come to Butler and Tania (Grace's best friend). These two souls were trying to start their lives over and eventually realized how much they needed one another, and together they made an awesome team. You of course have a little angst and the parts where these two know they've got it bad for one another but Butler doesn't feel he has enough to offer Tania. What I really like about this book is once again, the two characters are in their 40s and have had many knocks upside the head, but refuse to stop looking for their lives to become more grounded amidst the chaos of other MC feuds, and especially Tania's strange attachment to Finger. I also know that I will never look at another Carly Simon song the same ever again. This book was just beautiful, and a perfect ending to a great series.

Not one to read the blurb as I love going into a read blind, I have to admit that this wasn’t the case and made an exception with the fourth book in the Lock & Key series. As I have read the whole series, was and still am bowled over by all the memorable characters in an MC saga overflowing with suspense and twists and turns at every corner, I consider my shortcoming excusable. And what a synopsis and a half! In my book, Ms Porter is the blurb queen par excellence! So if this doesn’t whet your appetite, goodness knows what will! One has to mention that this cannot be read as a standalone; however, the author has gone to great lengths with her structural writing. Highly polished and with a flow second to none, every one of the club members’ history or story for a better word, is carefully integrated into the One Eyed Jacks’ club nudging one’s memory. I really felt strongly about this book. It was if I underwent a change; even matured and grew alongside the two protagonists who aren’t by any means young bunnies or ignorant to the fact that they’d had a rocky past. Two people that just had to have their say, had to open their hearts and confess all in their own way with time, patience and above all, understanding.

To be outlawed in the only club he had ever known and loved was for Butler, harsh. He’d made many dreadful mistakes. Now he wants to redeem himself, be accepted by those he values and prove his worthiness. I loved how I was offered first-hand what went wrong; why, and how he was going to make amends. There is no doubt whatsoever that I saw a huge change in him and definitely for the better. Going back to his roots has its consequences and are not as easy as I thought it would be. Flipping the pages to find out why he’d returned with whom he did, frustrated the pants of me. Beforehand, a coincidence occurs making me think his future was cut and dry. Nope, quite a twist here but he’ll eventually see the light of day and start sowing the seed with a cautiousness that literally sold me and totally fitting in a love story between two mature adults. So was it truly a case of slowly, slowly catchy monkey? Yeah! I can’t put into words how much I liked his modus operandi regardless of the setbacks he’s going to have.

Why Tania disappeared from the face of the earth for nearly eleven years leaving behind her loved ones are details to be revealed. But I will say this; feeling isolated in a world empty of emotions, frustrated in her profession and in a relationship that wasn’t going anywhere, she wants back. Hers weren’t really mistakes; more like bad choices and no way comparable with Butler’s background. Hmm… discovering who she’d rubbed shoulders with in the past and the reasons why completely threw me. But how could I not fall for this lass! So loving, so family oriented, so gutsy and yearning to have her own identity. No holds barred, she takes the bull by the horns and does what she has always wanted to do and oh boy, does she do it well! Ooh, and I simply adored the way she made friends with the enemy and when the truth is divulged, she even stands up for this person. Yeah, Tania truly has a marvellous soul whose heart is as big as the state she lives in.

The sizzling chemistry which jumps off the pages I found at times, quite frustrating. Well, in one scene when the sweetest of delicacies were added to the heat of the moment, my toes literally curled. How then could I not forgive these two love birds for their tentative start then! A past happening of the most embarrassing kind is a major factor that has to be taken into consideration and makes for very interesting reading as it does actually change the course of events and influences Butler and Tania’s stance towards each other. Therefore, throwing light on this detail was for me, extremely important.

Moments of angst in this MC's political club issues need more diplomacy than fisticuffs and much less than we’ve been used to. Whatever problem arose, seeing them being dealt with coherent dialogue held my attention throughout; in fact, I can’t say how much I liked the opposition! Butler falls into his role perfectly and is prepared to pull his weight alongside characters from previous books. What an absolute pleasure it was meeting up with the gang once again.

As always, Cat goes to town with the banter and I can’t put into words how much I loved this. Yes, KFF are total banter snobs! Nevertheless, I would have liked this read to be a teeny weeny bit shorter and the epilogue confused me a tad. I felt some of the details drawn out but saying that, it could well be me! I wasn’t in the least short-changed though. And the covers of the whole series have to be mentioned. Deary me, beyond titillating. Bravo to you Cat Porter for a marvellous follow up to an unforgettable series!

Love this series

An MC read with a difference, the characters are mature the conversations meaningful and the plot descriptive.

I found this a little to long, I wanted Butler and Tanya's story and with the back story, talks of other characters and other things going on with Finger and Wes it sort of dragged on with too many mentions of everyday things, recipes to name one in one of tbe conversations and not the important things of the plot that keeps you turning the pages.

I think if I hadn't read previous books? with other character references I would of been completely lost at some points.

Iron and Rust is like a second chance romance although 20 years ago there was more animosity than adoration.

Two people who have been there done it, married once and have finally found their soul mates.

I loved Tanya's character, a staight talking woman who isn't afraid to hold her own she reminded me of Gemma from Sons of Anarchy.

Another great read with great character's and more to look forward to from Cat Porter.

Recommended series but suggest start from the beginning of the series.

Butler, Butler, Butler. What can I say about you? If someone had told me in book 1 that I would love you as much as I do, I would’ve called them a liar. Oh the beauty of second chances, and true love. Butler&Tania are so beautiful and their story so unique and so true. These books have hit my soul like a ton of bricks!

“Thunder rumbled in the distance, having followed us home since we’d crossed the state line. A magnificent storm was brewing, had been for hours. My eyes darted up at the supercell gathering force, its billowy bulk churning, swirling, in the thick gray sky. Lightning streaked through the dramatic mass of clouds. Very soon, the storm would break, or maybe it would suddenly change direction. You could rarely predict its course, and a Dakotan accepted these natural laws. You learned to ride when you could and loved it hard when you did. You knew that the storms cutting loose would release their rage and maybe even ruin. Yet it was in the aftermath, in those ruins that such cruel storms left behind, that we lifted ourselves to see the possibilities once again. We believed that the sunflowers would once more grow, rise tall, and sway against the infinite Meager sky.”🖤

I like this author. She writes well. The first two in this series were good, these last two not so much.

The characters were just ok - they didn't really interest me. The story was a tad long and while the author worked hard to keep my attention, it just didn't happen. It took me a couple of days to get through but I made myself finish. But, I think I'm done with this series - although the teaser for Fury kind of intrigued me. The H (Finger) in Fury played a huge role in Tania's story (h in this book) since book 1.

I may re-read Wofsgate by this author again. It is one of my favorites.

This was by far the angstiest book of the series, and almost not in a good way. I loved how it all started out and the connection was great. Then we get to real time and the reality of Butler being back and the situation he was in just sucked. I hated seeing him with someone else and how long it lasted was something I couldn't come to terms with. I also didn't care for how involved Finger and Tania were, it seemed to come out of nowhere and it was painful to be part of that relationship. All the secrecy with Lanore was also something I had an issue with, just tell me already. Over all this wasn't one of my faves, but it doesn't change the fact that I love this series and Cat's writing. This one just wasn't for me.

God, Cat does this books so well. I can’t decide if I’m glad or not that hers were the first MC books I decided to give a go. What if any I read by a different author after her aren’t as good? 😭 Ah well, we shall see. Until then, I plan on continuing on with the Jacks until I’m done.
I freaking love Butler almost as much as Boner, almost 😅 P.S. Butler is a yearner 😌

Tania and Butler have known each other for years, but haven't always gotten along. Though her best friend was an old lady of an One Eyed Jack, Tania didn't agree with the lifestyle. She saw Butler as poster child for hedonism no good girl should allow in her life. Time and distance has changed them both. She's now coming out of her marriage, and he is trying to earn his way back into his club. Something is sparking, but circumstances aren't in their favor.

I loved this book, it's my favorite of the series. Butler is just so swooney. Alpha but also surprisingly sweet. Both leads are older, which helps with the maturity even in messy situations. It probably won't work for my friends in the Safety Gang.

Be ready to hear me fan-girl over Cat Porter for the duration of this review. At this point, I can seriously say that she could write a book about an ice cream cone wanting to make it on Broadway, and I wouldn’t hesitate to read it. That’s how much her writing does it for me.

You don’t need to have read the three previous books in the series to read B&R, but you would seriously miss some awesome couples and the ongoing back story won’t make that much sense… so yeah, for a complete One Eyed Jack experience you need to read L&K, R&R, and I&B before jumping into Butler’s and Tania’s story.

I’m going to be honest here and say that I was not expecting Tania to be Butler’s love interest. I was hoping for her to have a story with Finger so color me surprised when the book starts and Tania is the h (they do have a crazy history… so I wasn’t so far off the mark). Don’t get me wrong, I like Tania. She is a great friend to Grace and getting to know her here just revealed why. She is a multifaceted woman, complex yet simple, caring, smart, sassy. She had been left vulnerable and her will almost withered away by a lackluster marriage and a distant, uncaring husband.

From the beginning, I thought Butler deserved a happy ending. I wasn’t always a fan of his and with reason. He had some seriously hard times which we witnessed in the previous books. Yes, some of those stemmed from making bad choices, as but some were just really, really shit luck. Here he was on a mission to make it up to his brothers for all his past fuck ups and set on fighting all his demons on his own.

Basically, Blood and Rust is a book about two people, trying to make their way through life not expecting to find that kind of love, and yet they do in the least expected way.

"You might think you have nothing but rust inside your veins, clogging your heart. But you know what? You and me together, what we have - it creates fresh blood. And that blood will scour the rust in both our hearts, wash it away, bit by clinging hard bit."

This is a biker romance so there is plenty of action, shootouts, club politics, and scheming. Butler did a lot of planning in the last book which included coming back with an Old Lady… who isn’t Tania. That was another big shocker for me. I had even started to kind of like that girl. In true Cat Porter fashion though, in the end, everything made sense and it was one hell of a ride. There is not one moment you can say “ok, I’ll put it down now and keep reading tomorrow.” Which meant I was a zombie at work one day this week, but it was totally worth it.

As I mentioned, Ms. Porter’s writing just does it for me. I was there with her characters, my heart kicking in my chest when everything was too calm and I knew something was coming. I felt for them and with them– not just Tania and Butler, but for all the characters.

This ended up being a much sweeter book than I’d anticipated. Tania and Butler were a perfect match and I really enjoyed watching them fall in love.

“He adored me. And I was a pile of fangirling excitement and swooning mush.”

“You know how to make my Brando very, very happy and very hard.”

Action packed, sexy as hell, sweet, funny, heart wrenching. Blood and Rust was an incredible story and I could almost say my favorite in the series so far… which is saying a lot. A perfect addition to this incredible biker series… and the epilogue? Close to perfect, but Ms. Porter and I already had a conversation about it

This is exactly the caliber of writing and storytelling I put all other books against, and rarely do the others succeed like Cat Porter. Rich and mature, exciting and compelling, each character fully drawn and distinct. If only I could start this entire series over again, for the very first time.
I always enjoy the women in this series, and Tania is no exception. She’s got responsibilities and dreams, and she’s looking for her new adventure. When she reunites with Butler, there is a new sense of what-if, do-I-dare that keeps the momentum rolling.
I adored the scenes with Tania and Butler rumaging for treasures, the back story of what they were finding and how these items helped form their relationship. Probably my favorite of all was that they were having real conversations. This was a joy to read, how they got to know each other and were honest with each other, urging each other on and being thoughtful about their approach. Their chemistry was undeniable.
Seeing the past and present and enjoying all of the fantastic characters from the series again, I had such a sense of homecoming. I slowed down and let the words roll over me, soaking in the details and distinct sights and flavors of the people, the places, the emotions. It only makes me want to beg for more, more more!

5 Stars

I honestly didn't think I'd like this book this much. I didn't think Butler could be the guy he needed to be but boy was I wrong. Damn! He steals your heart. He's open and honest and everything you could want him to be while still being a kick-ass biker. Tania is all heart. She puts up a good tough girl front but that's all it is. She finds herself in the love she can give by helping others and finding value in things long forgotten. In a pile of someone else's junk they began to see in each other what could be with a little polishing. One of the lines in this book I loved is, "I'd wanted to rectify. Put it all to rights. Repair the damage. Rebuild. Scrape off the rust. Fortify the bones." It fits her antiques as well as their lives.
Another thing I loved about the book is the references she uses to Romeo and Juliet, Peter Pan, and Scarlett and Rhett.

I absolutely love this series. Each book is a five star read and one that grabs you.

Six Stars...

I am in love with Cat Porter's writing and her characters. I first read Lock and Key and then in went on to grab anything and everything she had written. The characters in the Lock and Key series are bad ass bikers with not so perfect lives but they are so much more than that. They have depth and "realness" to them that have made them some of my favorite and most beloved book characters ever. A beautiful, sexy, emotional read and if you haven't read this series yet you should. I highly recommend it.

This is a very difficult book for me to rate because some parts did not hold my interest, and some parts I loved. I did like the main role characters, but Finger kinda stole the show for me. He’s a beast. Roar! The writing is intelligent, thought provoking and most everyone I know gave it five stars so I do highly recommend reading it. Chances are that you will love it.

Another fab edition to this series!

I absolutely loved Butler and was so glad to finally have his story after seeing how badly he has suffered over the course of the previous books. I was so happy he was getting his happy ever after.
Tania is amazing. I loved her for taking control of her life, ending her failing marriage and taking a chance at being happy again.

One of the things I love most about this series is that all the couple are in their 30/40’s and have lived. They have life experience. Things they have failed at or have gone wrong. They’ve been happy, they’ve loved and lost. It’s extremely refreshing because your whole life doesn’t happen in your 20’s. Happy ever afters aren’t always your first or even second love. Life doesn’t always fall into perfect place until later in life when you actually know what you want... and what you don’t.

Whatever I’ve got to give, baby, it’s all for you. All of it.” I slid my hand over his heart.
“I’m clawing my way in there deep.”
“I can feel it, Scarlett. Make it hurt.”

***

“To be touched with intent. To be looked at. Really looked at it. For a man to see me, truly see me. That recognition, acknowledgment, that appreciation. That’s what I want. Where is that? Where did that go?”
“We let it go.”

***

“Unfortunately, Dig isn’t here to finally see us working together, but here we are.”

There were so many things I really liked about this book, like how beautifully and brilliantly it was written, what stopped me from rating higher was the fact that it was way too long. I was reading and reading and not really getting anywhere. It took me ten days to finish 😳

However, I adore this world that Cat Porter has created and cannot wait to read what happens with Finger and Lenore in Fury 😍

Well Butler, the real bad boy that you want to slap but hug at the same time, has finally been redeemed. A huge 5 star read for me but then I've been wanting Butler's story since book 1 in this series. I have to say that if you don't read the first three books you will lose so much of Butler's story. You'll either love or hate Butler in the preceding books, or maybe have equal parts love and hate. Every book in this series has been a 5 star read for me. The books are gritty and yes, some of you will call cheating for some situations, however I didn't find that to be a problem for me. This book and the others tell a story of a deep, abiding love that is fought for by less than perfect characters. One of the best things about this series IMO is that most of the main characters are in their 30's/40's. But the men are absolutely still prime of life, hot, alpha males who, when they love, love deeply. Strong heroines in the books also. Highly recommend this book and the whole series.

If I could give this book 10 stars I would! What an incredibly romantic love story. I know I say it after all these books but seriously after reading Iron & Bone I didn't think it could get any better than Boner and Jill. I was wrong!! Butler and Tania's love story is the epitome of sad and beautiful, especially Butler's side of it. I knew when reading the other books that there was something different and special about Butler and boy he did NOT disappoint me! What a warm and beautiful soul he is, and as they said several times in the story he has a big heart in there. I wanted him to find his HEA and he definitely did and I couldn't be happier that Tania was the one. I want to go read Fury now but I'm so hung up on this story I think I need to breath for a second or two lol! Thank you once again Cat Porter for creating such amazing and intriguing characters along with their incredible stories! You are a master creator for sure! :)
