Aww!! This book was really cute and sweet and funny and light-hearted! I absolutely loved it! I expected something completely different and I don’t know if its because it is an adult novel or its about falling for your boss…but I thought this was going to be an intense read. But that was not the case. It was very enjoyable and easy to read and I definitely recommend it!

I liked Izzy right from the start. She's smart and stands up for herself. I love that she worked hard for her MBA and how she loves working with flowers. But then Devon hires her for work directly with him and she turns stupid. All she can think about is him and it sort of got annoying. There were a few moments of clarity and vague disapproval, but she mostly went along with whatever Devon wanted.

What a fun read.

Loved Isabelle and Devon. She was hard working, funny, smart. I really wanted to be her friend and hang out, lol. She took crap from no one, and even though she was a little lost in her life, in the end when she figured out what and who she wanted, she went for it and demanded it.

I adored getting to know Isabelle and Devon and found myself enjoying way too much their flirting and falling-in-love journey. All the Donovan guys /so nice to read about them and their lovely better halves. It was such a nice and light romance to read!

This book is set after his mother inherits a fortune and Devon is handling the family business, the abusive father is long gone, but the scars he left behind on Devon remain and along with his brothers and Mom they meet once a week to run through business but since both Cade and Finn are married now and Mom is somewhat scarce at times, Devon's workaholic behavior works right into the sto Oh those Donavan brothers... the last book in the series is Devon.I loved this book!!! Isabelle has been running his parents flower shop for a few years now after getting her MBA and comes home to a surprise from her parents that they've sold the shop to the Donavan's so they can retire somewhere warm and play golf. They've made a clause in the contract that Izzy is to retained as an employee. Izzy, as she's been known since childhood and now kind of shrinks from the name, doesn't think she'll ever be seen as an adult is flipping her lid having had a crush on the elder Donavan since high school. In the same breath her parents tell her she's got a meeting with Devon at their home/office where he lives and works. So off she goes. She doesn't want this, but she understands her parents need to scale back. And she especially doesn't want to be around Devon.
Their first meeting goes a bit bumpy. Devon wants to train her to work with him, after reviewing her college transcripts and seeing her potential he wants to use her talents to help him with what he does, as well as the flower shop. She tells him she's got x number of weddings coming up, several funerals etc and she's the only designer. There are only 5,000 people in the town. So Izzy is back and forth between the flower shop and his office and her parents have flown the coop for Myrtle Beach.
Devon makes it clear that he doesn't do anything other than sex. He offers her an affair, but on his terms, his rules, his everything. She says no thanks. They have great chemistry. Devon's inner dialogue at times made me want to throat punch him.

Meanwhile there's a lot going on with this family, sister in law Ellie is pregnant and Finn's busy running the store with his wife. Then Mom announces that she's getting engaged. Devon is livid. The other two are happy including Izzy, who Luann the Mom has always made her part of the family.
Which also doesn't always make Devon happy. Damn Devon. Luann asks for Izzy's help with the wedding and of course she says yes. (Mindful she's now handling three jobs) and Devon finally wheedles his way into her pants. Everyone notices that Devon is a whole lot more likable too. They keep they're affair a secret. Izzy isn't happy being someone's secret but she and Devon really do get along well and have fun. Devon is starting to loosen up and they enjoy each other.

When her Mom calls about a shop for sale in Myrtle Beach and they might put in an offer and they want her to move down there. They have a couple months to think about it, but it just adds more pressure on Isabelle. Devon starts riding her about spending too much time at the shop and gives her a deadline to hire a manager and reliable help. Mind you, she was supposed to be running the shop, not working for Devon. He's a spoiled child.

With his Mothers wedding looming closer, Izzy is weighing her options. The wedding goes off wonderfully and it's a wonderful event .....for everyone except Izzy. One word wakes her up and she's gone. Really gone. Read the book to get all the little details and see what happens to Devon!

What a great story Susan wrote and not just this book, but the series. I'd recommend all three. I read them a couple years ago and they were great. They still are and not to be missed. These are real character stories and have great plots. Susan writes great characters. You can feel Devon radiating off the page. Which at times makes you want to slug him, but it's all in the book!

Overall – I love this cute series. The issues that everyone in this series has had to overcome are endearing and make the characters so much more real, believable and loveable.

Devon is the oldest Donovan. He is the ultimate protector. Now that his abusive father is out of the picture and the Donovan’s have inherited lots of money. Everyone in the family can breathe. Everyone except Devon. He keeps moving, working, living in a certain way so that no one can hurt him again. He doesn’t believe in Overall – I love this cute series. The issues that everyone in this series has had to overcome are endearing and make the characters so much more real, believable and loveable.

Devon is the oldest Donovan. He is the ultimate protector. Now that his abusive father is out of the picture and the Donovan’s have inherited lots of money. Everyone in the family can breathe. Everyone except Devon. He keeps moving, working, living in a certain way so that no one can hurt him again. He doesn’t believe in relationships or love. He saw how that worked for his mom. He is willing to have affairs and then walk away. The only problem with that is a cute redhead that has grown to a woman. She isn’t the girl who once asked him to the Prom when he had come back from a deployment in the military.

Isabelle’s parents sold their flower shop to the Donovan’s and they decided to retire in Myrtle Beach. Leaving Isabelle to work with Devon as part of the deal. Isabelle is the girl with the MBA who can help the Donovan’s with their money investments. Or so Devon’s brothers believe. He had no intention of allowing anyone help him with the business. He doesn’t trust. He just let his brothers believe it. But Isabelle proves to be very good at helping them and Devon finds himself trusting her. He just doesn’t see it that way. Isabelle though has always had a crush on Devon and when they both feel the chemistry; Devon proposes an affair with no one knowing. He makes it clear to Isabelle that is only an affair that can’t go anywhere. To protect him and his business, he wants Isabelle to sign an employment agreement. Isabelle doesn’t sign it but decides to go with Devon’s offer of an affair in hopes that he would come to love her. Stupid girl. I can’t believe anyone would really do that and really not think they would or could get hurt.

So begins the affair and time they both start spending together. They both start enjoying themselves in the other’s company after five pm and only working as professionals during the day. Trying to keep his large family from knowing anything except that he is seeing someone and not sharing with his family.

I love the Donovan family. For all they have been through, they care for and help each other. Their mom is getting remarried and Devon is having a hard time thinking his mom is making a good choice. He thinks that she is making another bad decision. He only finds out that she is happy and that the man his mother is marrying is a good man. Everyone is happy except Devon. He was beaten by his father and his emotional scars are deep. Isabelle is good for Devon. They are good together. They really care for each other and the chemistry and love they share is very tender and I can’t help but scream at Devon to let her in and love her back and shout it to the world!

Just like every story, there comes a point where the bottom falls out and Isabelle has had enough and won’t let her heart hurt any more. I felt the pain that Isabelle was feeling as if it were me! What Devon does surprised me. What a good man he really is!

I have read the second book so I knew some of the family before this book. I think even if I hadn’t read it I would have been okay reading this alone.

So, if you like swimming, sneaking around, fade to black intimacy, family, babies, flowers, brats, weddings, surprises, money, finding love, makeovers, overcoming abuse and letting it go, Myrtle Beach then this might just be for you.

But he didn't count on the way that Izzy or Belle had grown up into a beautiful, capable, smart, sexy woman. But he doesn't date or have relationships, he has sex and definitely not with an employee. Or does he?

Will Belle catch Devon's eye with her make over? Will Devon want more with Belle? Will he realize that they are made for each other? You will have to read this to find out. Loved it! Highly Recommend!

Head Over Heels for the Boss was a great romance. It reminded me of once superstar romance authors Nora Roberts and Jude Deveraux in their earlier works. This was a great stand alone novel. Izzy aka Belle aka Isabelle is my favorite type of lead. She is sassy, headstrong, lovable and a small town girl with an MBA. Devon is exactly like her and completely perfect for her.

This was a great read. I became emotional invested in the characters as would any reader.

I recommend this book to anyone interested in a quirky interoffice romance. It is a light read and definitely one of my favorites now.

He doesn’t believe in love but he does believe in healthy attraction so he manages to convince Belle, a no strings attached affair in the answer to their mutual attraction. On the other hand, Belle still feels a strong infatuation with Devon and agrees to a secret affair, thinking she can handle it.

Had promise but it turned out to be a romance fail for me
I liked both characters up to a certain point but eventually they both started to unravel for me. Firstly, I get that Belle agreed to this messed up secret affair with Devon but as time progressed, I felt that she was if not justified, at least understandable as to why she would start to hope/believe that Devon had grown to care for her. When they were alone, Devon shared his personal life with her. They bonded and it wasn’t all done between the sheets. They really seemed to become friends and feelings seemed to develop between them.

That is until you get inside Devon’s head. OMG! What a frustrating MC. His back and forth and mixed signals drove me up the whole. His behavior at the wedding!!!! Argh -_- It was such a douche bag move that I expected a huge grovel scene. I need my MMCs to realize a lot earlier than 95% into their story that they messed up. That there are genuine feelings of love and affection for their h and not continue to be hard headed and stubborn and basically ignore everyone and be selfish. That is not H material and Devon did all of that.

I was so disappointed in Belle’s easy forgiveness. To make matters worse, I felt the whole family (including her friends, who are married to Devon’s brothers) insulted her at the wedding. Who allows someone to help plan a wedding, organize and arrange it (all the while telling her and treating her like family) and then on the main day, completely forget her? Belle spent countless hours getting everything right for Devon’s mom’s wedding and no one can be bothered to make sure she has a seat at the table, any table? I think it was doubly messed up because they all knew how alone Belle was feeling, as an only child and for the first time having her parents so far away. They really made her feel like family and it was a slap in the face to show up and have to watch the “family” celebrate from the back row. The lame cop out reason “they forgot with everything going on” is just that, lame! That is a huge oversight and proved that all that drivel about being “like” family was empty words. That whole scene was messed up. She was ignored by her own so called friends and then Devon gives her the cold shoulder! In my book, they all would have been written off and I would have started over in Florida without a backwards glance.

By the end, I was hoping Belle would snap out of it and move on. Sadly everything was forgiven and eventually they do get together. I’m just not convinced it was for the best.
