interesting to see a rare female perspective in Ancient Greek mythology, particularly with the juxtaposition offered by Demeter and Kore's life giving divine powers in comparison with the many allusions towards the abduction and subsequent marriage to Hades representing death.

Read in Greek, as I will be authoring an original translation+introduction of the hymn for a class this semester. Such a delightful story. Very funny (e.g., Hermes’ “what are cows? I was born yesterday”) and a great story of brotherly reconciliation.

Hermes is a goddamn liar. And Apollo is fair and just, so he's better.
