We meet Kate just after she's accidentally overdosed on drugs and now dead, is on her way to meet her guardian angel. The first moments of the story are a little confuse, but then Kate's confused herself. Still, she's quick to accept (more or less) what's going on and understands the assignment she's given. Yep, Kate has a head on her shoulders and can adjust as needed. Her attitude made her easy to like and sympathize with. I also loved the light air and humor in the story, despite the serious ...more

What Interested Me:
This book's synopsis reminded me of the movie Teen Spirit, where a dead girl has to prove that she's good by making the least popular girl Prom Queen in order to go to heaven instead of hell. I loved that movie, so I thought why not read a similar book?

Plot:

I have received this from Xpresso Book Tours in exchange for an honest review.

In the beginning, I really enjoyed this book. It was cutsie and interesting and my biggest hope was that Kate and Jake would get together. And everything was going well until they got together. Kate has set up her new best friend with her assignment to save, Jake. Later when Kate is hanging out in the ocean, Jake finds her there

As soon as I read the synopsis for Accidental Butterfly I knew that this was a book I would have to read.

The main character, Kate, is not even alive when we start this book. She has just died after accidentally overdosing on sleeping pills. Kate is given a chance to prove that she is worthy of Heaven. All she has to do is keep 17 year old Jake safe from the same fate, dying of a drug overdose. Kate thinks

Kate dies from an accidental overdose, but she is given an opportunity. She has to come back to save Jake. Can Kate keep it together enough to save Jake or will she fail at this and love?

A really interesting idea for a story. I loved the involvement of angels through the eyes of 16 year old Kate. A great read that was included in the Dirty Boys of Summer box set.
