Love these characters. Short, sweet, historical romance. Ruby is an orphan from New York that is now living in Nowhere, Texas. She felt she was in love with David her first love from New York. They were corresponding over the year she was in Texas. When David writes her that he is in love with another local girl and will be marrying her, Ruby is devastated. She wonders what to do and how she can go on without having others know she was dumped. Her employer Lewis is a single father of two boys who is desiring a wife, and a mother for his boys. If you enjoy clean, happy ever afters, and romance you'll love this book!

Book 2 of Orlan Orphans series. While I didn't read the first book, I was able to get into this book. Ruby and her sister were adopted into a home of a very nice older couple. Ruby was set to marry a guy when he breaks her heart. Her boss, at the store she works at, asks her to marry him. She doesn't love him. How will it work out? He has two young boys. Pretty sure I will be reading more books of this series.

A sweet novella, with a light dash of spice, from the Orphan series. Ruby is so afraid of humiliation she agrees to a quick wedding to cover up she's been jilted. Does an unexpected spark turn into a flame? I love the humor Osborne includes in her writing along with just enough action and drama to keep it interesting.

She thought she was going to marry one man but married another

He was very happy when she got jilted by her fiancee and moved quickly to replace him. Because he had his eye on her for a long time.

A short and sweet novel about an orphan who grew up with her twin sister and 12 other orphans. They are now considered adults and thinking about love and marriage. It all does not always go smoothly.

Gotta love Edna!!

This is a cute series with some colorful characters. I dearly love Edna Petunia. Life in Nowhere, Texas is interesting with all the "bastards".

Ruby is a wonderful story. She has been writing to her love in New York only to find out that he was marrying someone else. even though she is heart broken, she has found someone new who understands how hard it is to be in love and then have that love lost. Read the book to get the rest of the story and how it all works out for the best

Ruby Orlan Orphans Book 2 Kirsten Osbourne

CMWAS Review Team Member Cindy Nipper

I hate reading books of a series, out of order, so when asked to review Ruby, I had to go find book 1. Matron: Orlan Orphans Book 1 is actually part of an anthology titled Call Me Valentino, which I already owned but hadn’t read yet! I skipped through the book to find Matron and got busy!
Ruby continues where Matron leaves off. The orphans are settled in their new home of Nowhere, TX a year later.
We all have dreams and wishes for our lives but usually, when things don’t happen as we hoped and planned, we’re devastated. But more often than not, though, those new opportunities bring us a deeper love and joy than we could have ever imagined! To me, this is what this story is about! Ruby thinks she’s going to marry her childhood sweetheart from the orphanage, but when getting her Dear Jane letter, her world is turned upside down! This is a brilliant book filled with the comical Edna Petunia and the other orphans! Looking forward to what happens with the rest of the orphans! On to book 3!

I have received this book free in exchange for an honest review.

WOW!!! Another MUST READ from Kirsten Osbourne

I've been waiting for this book since THE MATRON (Book #1 from the Orlan Orphans)... and Kirsten Osbourne did not disappoint! She so easily tells her stories with so much fervor and leads you along a well written story of hope and love. It cracked me up when Miss Edna Petunia refers to the mother and quick marriages from the Suitors in Seattle Series. (That is a must read series, in which I first read Kirsten's work. The Orlan Orphans is a spin off from The Suitors in Seattle and it wouldn't surprise me that Kirsten keeps up with one of the eight sister's from that series. In fact, Dr. Harvey is the youngest daughter of that series.)

Kirsten Osbourne is an excellent story teller, and she does not disappoint! She has several different series with recency, historical western and contemporary. I can guarantee you will find something to read for whatever era you're interested in or in the mood to read. Keep up your AWESOME work Kirsten, you do not disappoint!

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review. This is Mismousey honest opinion of Kristen Osbourne's book- Ruby (Orlan Orphans Book 2).
Having never read anything that Ms. Osbourne has written before reading this outstanding book. I must say I did not know what to expect. This book has it all: heartache-love-romance-courtship-fear of losing it all. The way in which Ms. Osbourne takes her pen to paper to create this unique story is genius. Her characters have such depth-detail-feeling-raw emotions. You are able to see and feel everything that they do and feel. The scenes are described in such detail - right down to the smallest stitch on the shirt. This is an amazing story with lots going on. No I'm not gonna tell you anymore. You're gonna have to read this for yourself.

Wonderful story

This is book 2 and it is a great story. Ruby is one of 15 girls sent to Nowhere TX from their orphanage in New York she had a beau and didn't want to leave but she had nowhere else to go, when they arrive there is no house for them as promised but Edna Petunia and her husband take the girls in and adopt them. Ruby and her beau write and she works trying to save money for their future, her beau writes that he is marrying someone else and this is when the story takes off the owner of the mercantile wants to marry her and she agrees this book grabbed me from the start and I could not put it down I loved it

Easy and fun to read.
Ruby was a good following of The matron, but can also be read as a standalone.
The story is sweet and funny.
The characters are a lot of fun, especially, as usual, is Edna Petunia.
I wasn't a fan of Lewis in the beginning of the story because I thought he was too much fixed on sex. But he grew up very fast on me. Ruby is a good woman, well educated bye Cassie. I loved Lewis boys and wonder about Opal.
I don't want to spoil the story, so I will stop there.
But know that you even get an epilogue.
Good job Mrs. Osbourne

An orphan finds a husband and sons

Ruby is one of the oldest girls that traveled from New York to Nowhere, Texas, in The Matron. A year later she is working, saving her money and waiting for her childhood sweetheart to ask her to return to New York. Well, that doesn't happen.

Not to worry. Someone has had his eyes on her.

If you already like Kirsten Osborne and Edna Petunia, you'll like this book. It is a sweet story to wile away your time. But don't start here. Read the Suitors of Seattle series or Dalton Brides series or Brides of Beckham series first.

This was a sweet book to read. It was a sweet story with a little bit of spice to peak the readers interest. I enjoyed that while Ruby's relationship with Lewis came about unexpectedly, it turned into love, because she was willing to allow what could have been a broken heart to love her husband. It was enticing to read their relationship, to see that Lewis, the husband, was actually worried about possibly losing her. Their love was unexpected, but beautiful to read.

I'm sorry to say this is not one of my favorite of Kirsten's books. Ruby gets jilted by her long distance fiance and Lewis quickly proposes. I didn't particularly care for Lewis's approach to his and Ruby's "compatibility". He makes it clear in the beginning that he wants to get married because he "misses having marital relations". It's pretty abrasive, in my opinion. The story overall is good, with some quirky characters that add depth.

This was a touching story about a young lady who was orphaned at a young age. I read the complete book in one sitting as the story is never boring and always keeps you wanting to turn the page. This book is #2 in the series. It was soo good I will be purchasing book #1 and then the rest to find out what happens next. Highly recommend this for all romance readers.

Another excellent book by Kirsten Osbourne! Having been jilted by her fiancé back in New York, Ruby makes the impetuous decision to marry her employer Lewis Darcy, becoming his wife and the mother to his two boys in one fell swoop. What starts as a solution for both their problems quickly becomes a steadfast and loving relationship that will, without a doubt, truly stand the test of time and adventure.
