M'ha encantat i no m'ho esperava per res. Millor que "La meva Cristina i altres contes"; potser perquè és més intimista, més profund. Cada conte és una metàfora de la vida, es respira fatalitat, realisme, passió... Molt humà, és com si Rodoreda s'hagués despullat a cada paraula.

Rodoreda amb un bastó i una malla, perseguint les diverses Rodoredes, a passeig i corrent. La de sempre, la de les flors i les polisíndetons, la del parlar atropellat i el perfum; però també l'enamorada de prostitutes, la de la solitud, la suïssa, la que fa fora les comes davant el pensament, i totes aquelles que potser van fer por o mandra d'allargar a novel·la i mereixien veure la llum.
