17 Marigold Lane is the first book in the Prudence Penderhaus series by R.M Gilmore. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Gilmore, so I was intrigued to see what I would discover once I opened the cover. This is a bit of an emotional young adult story with lots of mystery, humour, secrets, lies, courage, learning to live in the face of death, the dreaded “C” word, and so much more.
I didn’t expect to discover a story with quite as much depth as this has, or one which gave me pau

Yeah, this was a binge worthy read! I couldn't and frankly didn't want to put it down. I loved this book, only by the second chapter was I laughing and crying. It brought out my emotions and I couldn't contain my laughter or the tears. My BF thinks I'm insane when he walks in and I'm crying while reading lol. That to me is pure talent, to actually feel for these characters as if they were real and next to me. I'm a hard @zz anyway and I don't have normal emotions. So yea...was really awesome!

17 Marigold Lane (Prudence Penderhaus Book 1) by R.M. Gilmore is a YA coming of age
story. Once you start, you won’t be able to stop reading. It is well written with well
developed characters. It is a story where the plot is dark and the subject is intriguing
and enthralling, and emotions run high. This somber story is as mysterious as it is at
times funny but it is also a little sad and will make your heart break it is also interesting
and different that you need to know what is going to happen.

17 Marigold Lane Review

Prudence Penderhaus was an average high school nobody that has flown under the radar all her life. She never would have guessed the day she found out she was dying would be the first day she really started to live.

This was a clever mystery that was a pleasure to read. I won't go into details to avoid spoilers but this story definitely hit home for me and left me with all the feels. The characters were smart and interesting and we learned a good chunk of the mystery but it

I don't usually do young adult novels, but this one was amazing! I could not stop reading and stayed awake into the wee hours of the morning until I finished it.

Just in the first couple of pages, you come to know Prudence Penderhaus and her struggles. She's a teenage outcast, picked on by everyone at school. And she's just recently discovered that she's dying. She's never taken chances, and with the knowledge that she may not live long, decides that's exactly what she will do. Take chances. Lot

I had the privilege of getting a early look at this one. I am continuously amazed by Gilmore's ability to weave an intriguing tale with characters that defy the norms. This one is no different.

Prudence Penderhaus isn't the typical type of teenager even before she learns she's sick. She tries to stick to the shadows hoping not to stand out which is a difficult feat considering everything from her height to her hair makes her stick out like a sore thumb. But all the things that make her different

This is a great young adult read. If you love a smartass, caring, take no crap, odd teenager, you will love this book.

This book is filled with mystery, secrets, lies, murder, and oddness (we can't forget about the weirdos). It kept my attention for the entire time and had my mind coming up with different scenarios the entire time. I was actually wrong about all of my ideas, which very rarely happens. I had no clue what would happen next.

I received this book to give an honest review.

I didn't know what to really expect with this book you have Prudence who is dying decides to do one thing that sets everything into motion.
On her street there is a house that everyone calls the spook house you all know people have stories about houses and what are in them. Well Prudence decides to knock on the door one day and when it opens it takes her by surprise it seems there is a young man living there who we learn is named Cassius. There is mo

Couldn't put it down, loved this story.

First, many thanks go to the author, R.M. Gilmore, who provided a free copy of 17 Marigold Lane in exchange for an honest review. I’ve now got a new series that I’m addicted to, thank you ever so much.

It is not very often in life that one gets the opportunity to be truly brave. Prudence is afforded such an opportunity when she is diagnosed with cancer. With the attitude of “what do I have to lose”, she knocks on the door of the creepiest house on the stre

OMG! The feels on this one! Killing me....
I really LOVED this book, it is incredibly good and I didn't wanted it to end.
Well written, awesome characters, a plot that you wouldn't believe with mystery and all. There is sort of a love story in there as well, a special one. I have to say that I loved Cass like a mother would his son, he is too old to be mine but I still loved him that way. The story touched me because I know all about autism, I have a nephew with autism but not the kind that Cass

This book starts with a seventeen-year-old girl coming to terms with the fact she's dying. Now going on from that, you would expect this book to full of doom and gloom. Instead, it is funny and heartbreaking at the same time. Prudence makes a decision to do something that she has never dared to before, based on the fact of 'what does it matter now anyway?' What follows on is a mystery story that will keep you intrigued and engrossed as you turn the pages. The slowly developing relationship betwe ...more

This book was different than anything I had read really and was very interesting to say the least. We have come to Marigold Lane and what we find there is not what you would expect. The need to find out what lurks inside the spooky house that is a few doors down from her own Prudence finds herself knocking on the door. When the door opens she finds something different than she expected but this starts a series of events that bring us to uncovering the mystery behind the strange family that lives ...more

This was a little different than anything else I've read from this author. I do enjoy YA books from time to time and this is one I'd for sure recomend. It all takes place over such a short amount of time that it felt extra face paced and l wasnt really wanting to put it down. I think the characters were extremely relatable, especially if you've ever felt like the outcast. And I can honestly say if you have any remote experience with being around someone with ASD, you should pick up on it pretty ...more

I've been excited for this book since I read the blurb; and it did not disappoint! This book is such a fantastic YA read.
17 Marigold Lane is a perfect blend of mystery, intrigue, loss, acceptance, and fandom references!
The thing that I loved most was probably the fandom references, from Doctor Who to The Hunger Games, and everything in between. It made the book that much more relatable and enjoyable. (#Geek #FandomForever)

What an awesome read! Two hearts, one facing death, the other hidden away from the world for most of his life, meet in a moment of courage. Crazy twists and turns keep you engaged as Pru and Cass embark on a journey where both meet love. There is something fishy going on with the Sheriff's department, one in particular, and I am anxious to find out what secrets he is hiding in the next book. You will definitely be on the edge of your seat with this one. Great job by the author! Well written! ...more

The start of the book was interesting. I had to idea as to where the author was taking me. I started curious and slowly enjoyed getting into the story. Then I was surprised by the events that came up next. I was very much into it and was getting to know the characters better. Then I was surprised again. It's already the end. And I was like, seriously?! I want more. I couldn't believe I am done with the book already. I need to know what happens next. That said, I'd definitely read the next one. ...more

Four stars because at the end of the book a certain event gets mentioned over and over. We could have had at least three less pages without the repetitive mention of said event. Overall it was a good story, I really like the main characters. Happy reading

Weirdos stick together.

Prudence Penderhaus has just discovered she's dying, and is not handling it well. In an act of bravery, she decides to pay a visit to the infamous "spook house" that has remained a legend in their quiet little town of Flintlock for its foreboding presence. Inside, she meets a young man named Cassius, and that's when everything changes.

The budding friendship of Prudence and Cassius is absolutely adorable. Cassius has a hard time understanding certain aspects of the human

Hoist your freak flags! This short novel speaks to all of you outcasts.

You will adore and despise Gilmore's incredibly vivid and well written kooky characters. Some are utterly kick-ass and cool as hell. Others....well let's just say a punch in the gut and a kick down the stairs won't sate your desire for revenge by the time you reach the story's end. There is a beautiful diversity to her characters as well. Gilmore doesn't shy away from autism, teenage awkwardness, alcoholism, or even cancer. S

Fun & engaging YA read! I enjoyed Pru and Cass’ story! Really liked how the author brought their quirky characteristics out without making them seem like stereotypes or a freak show. They were believable and the story engaging! This was on my holiday read list and now I’m going to 19 Marigold!!! Can’t wait to see what happens next!

17 Marigold Lane (Prudence Penderhaus Book 1) by R.M. Gilmore was an intriguing, emotional read, that had me hooked and reading into the wee hours.

Wow, this book was something I tell you. I started reading it a little later in the evening thinking, I'll read a few chapters before I go to bed.
