Last True Hero is the first in Diana Gardin's new series Battle Scars. This is the first time I've read a book by this author and it won't certainly be my last.

This book features a discharged Army Ranger and the daughter of an Admiral in the Navy.

Dare Conners is trying to figure out his life. He was recently discharged from the military and doesn't know what he wants to do or where he wants to settle after a lifetime of

Ex-Army Ranger Dare Connors has experienced more trauma and violence than one person should ever know in a lifetime. Freshly discharged from the Army, he’s taking things slowly as he adjusts to his new civilian life, living with his best friend and working as an auto mechanic. But nothing could have prepared him for how Berkeley Holtz would bring him to life. He’s drawn to her immediately—and is immediately shot down.

Berkeley is no shrinking violet. She’s grown up in a military household, surrou

This book is my favorite one yet. I fell completely head-over-heels in love with the hero, Dare, and I hope my readers do, too! The heroine is strong, witty, and sassy, and I want her to capture your hearts. Enjoy this military contemporary romance, the first in the Battle Scars series!

Last True Hero is a contemporary/Military (sorta) romance. And I loved every second of it! This book has you swooning and curling your toes from a very early point-- the writing is so well done that you feel as if you are actually a part of what is going on in the book, even if its just in your head. LOL

Last True Hero is the newest book by author Diana Gardin. After reading her other books and finding out that this was about a discharged soldier (which are kinda my thing it seems) I couldn’t wait to find out about this book. I was surprised when Diana messaged me if I wanted to read her book for review, surprised but so excited. Thank you, Diana, I hope you can find yourself in my review and that I do the books justice because oh my god!

Last True Hero is the first novel in the Battle Scars series from Diana Gardin and is also my first ever read by the author. This book worked quite well as a series starter, introducing readers to a cast of characters that proved to be worthy of attention, but just enough so that you'll want to witness the "real" stories unfold as the series goes on. A sexy contemporary with a great voice that ends with a suspenseful twist. I started to root for Dare and Berkeley in chapter one and didn't stop until I hit the end. The author has created a unique, memorable world in Lone Sands North Carolina, and I can't wait to revisit it in book two.

This is the first book in the Battle Scars Series and what a beginning!!

Dare Conner is an ex-Army Ranger, not his idea to be an EX Ranger but one pin from a grenade made him an ex. He goes to Lone Sands, North Carolina to spend some time with his buddy Drake. The town motto is "Where lonely hearts find a home in the sun and the sand." He's thinking him and pell-mell (his beloved Ford F-250) should be turning around. Poor Dare doesn't know how he's suppose to function in this world without the Ar

I'm fanning myself...

It's been several days since I finished this book and I'm STILL fanning myself! There was so much to enjoy in this book. For starters, Ms. Gardin's mastery of writing dual point of view is apparent. Dare and Berkeley had such distinct voices and perspectives. When I read the Dare chapters, it was like getting a secret pass to live inside a guy's head. And Berkeley's chapters were equally insightful and w

I have found my new “Insta-Buy” author.

The best thing about reading a book that you love is realizing the author has more books that I can read instantly. No need to wait a year for the next one, or wondering when I can read more. Diana Gardin has a handful of books I can jump into right away.

As for this book… I finished it in one sitting. That’s right! One-stinkin’-sitting. It's that good. The writing is

Dare is really protective when it comes to his woman, "I release him. “You’re my brother, and I love you. But if you talk about her like that again I’ll break a bone.” I love a happy Berkley she shows her emotions quite well in her actions, "cupping her face, I gaze down at her, a complete and utter goner, and return her smile. “Yeah? I like it when you show me how happy you are by tackling me. Very effective. Genius, even.” I enjoyed this book Dare was one sexy man. ...more

Last True Hero had a blurb that grabbed me and a military hero plus it was a book by a new to me author. All systems go.

Dare Conners is home after years of combat duty as an Army Ranger. He struggles with the night terrors and his memories, but he is ready for a new start. His Army buddy invites him to join him in a seaside Carolina town to help him rest and sooth his soul. Dare was a foster kid and never has found home and isn't sure he plans to stay, but his first encounter with sult

Being the Admiral's daughter comes with it's disadvantages and a tall list of expectations to live up to, which is something that Berkeley Holtz faces on a daily basis, and she is fed up with it. She is more than ready to live her life on her own terms, but every time she makes an attempt to do things her way, her parents intervene and take control. They have even found the "perfect" man for her, and expect her to give up her dreams to follow in her mother's footsteps, and become the doting mili ...more

Berkeley is a military brat. Her father is an Admiral in the Navy, so she knows

almost everything about the military. She also knows that she doesn’t want to be a

military wife.

Her controlling father has other plans for her however. Her parents have groomed

her to be the perfect wife for her best friend. Grisham and Berkeley have been

friends for as long as Berkeley can remember, but that is all they are. At least that is

what Berkeley thinks. Grisham however loves her.

I am sorry, but first I have to get this out as I loved the colours of the cover with the yellowy background and blue writing, but the guy on the cover just doesn't do it for me - his body is a YES, his face is a NO. This could contribute maybe a little why, I couldn't connect as much with the story as when you are reading a book like this and their is a guy on the cover - you connect him as the lead character and it can influence how you view the guy. In Last True Hero Army Ranger Dare Connors ...more

Another GREAT book by Diana Gardin!

Who doesn’t love a military hero? (Everyone should, so that is a rhetorical question.) In LAST TRUE HERO we have Dare, an ex-Army Ranger who is struggling to figure out where he fits into the world. When he meets Berkley, a spark is lit inside him and he KNOWS she is part of his future. Too bad Berkley, the daughter of a Navy Admiral, has promised herself that she would NEVER get involved with a military man. After years of trying to live up to her parent’s exp

I loved this book. Diana Gardin shines with great storytelling, strong writing and a fast paced plot. I loved the main characters. Berkeley was a spitfire, showing how strong she was by putting Dare in his place right off the bat. And who wouldn't swoon over Ex-army Ranger Dare? Dude oozes sex appeal. The banter and chemistry is off the charts. I really enjoyed seeing two strong characters who have their own issues/demons, grow together. I also loved the setting of this book. This book is a great read and I truly enjoyed it. I have read another of Diana’s series and loved it. I picked up this book because of that without a second thought. Berkeley is an Admiral’s daughter. Her whole life has been planned for her by her parents. She finds herself lucky that she got to choose what college she went to and what degree she got. Fresh from college her parents are determined for her to marry the man they have picked for her and start what they believe her life should be. Be ...more

Dare Conners is looking for a place to settle down after years in the military so he decides to take his friend's offer to spend time at his place in Lone Sands. As soon as he arrives, he feels like he made the right decision. Especially after he meets Berkeley.
