From Chris Garver—in-demand tattoo artist, illustrator, and former star of TLC’s Miami Ink—comes a richly illustrated coloring book that explores the beauty of nature. With double-sided pages of mostly hand-drawn images, Color Odyssey features elaborate butterflies flitting among gardens of flowers, an octopus in the ocean waves, a fantastic elephant, and many other creatures. Garver’s stunning, intricate drawings will thrill grown-up fans of coloring books.
I won this in a first reads contest. Beautiful coloring book! This is a fun one! I loved the seahorse and owl pictures the best. I'm enjoying coloring in this book. Thank you for picking me to win this one.
~GoodReads First Reads Giveaway~ I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher via GoodReads. This giveaway in no way swayed my opinion.
Let me start of by saying this book is beautiful! The cover is just gorgeous and the inside drawings are just as beautiful. I love all the animal and wildlife drawings. The Phoenix, seahorse, sea turtle, and octopus are my absolute favourites.
I would have given this book a five star review but there are a couple of drawbacks. All of the pictures are back-to-back so if you want to frame your works of coloured art you can't. Also the pictures are bound together too closely that it's difficult to colour the full picture.
All in all the book is a solid 4-star colouring book as colouring books go. It has a little of everything which is why I gave it such a high score. So if you can't decide between that ocean, flowers, wildlife, mythical creatures, or geometric shapes colouring collection this colouring book has pages of each of those in one place.
The recent fad of adult coloring books is popular with good reason. These books allow you to express yourself creatively, while relaxing and letting your mind wander quietly. I find it very calming and fulfilling. In this particular book, there are beautiful, easy to color drawings of flowers, animals (frog, elephant), faces, patterns, and other interesting objects. Some are simpler than others. The more intricate ones could keep you occupied for short bursts of work for days! The variety of the content will ensure that this will hold your interest for a long while.
I quite enjoyed a particular page with the words Peace and Love, which I worked on during the adult coloring hour at our local branch library. I look forward to coming back to this book again and again when I need some down time or am feeling creative.
This book was given to me for free by the Goodreads Giveaways program.
This is gorgeous as an art book.
The book doesn't open flat, which detracts from the beautiful 2-page spreads, and would make for awkward coloring if you could bring yourself to color directly in the book. Since it's printed on both sides of the page, copying pages to color would be preferable. The book's size, about 10" by 10", makes it awkward to copy pages, although it's still do-able. Hence only 4 stars.
However, it really is a beautiful book! The cover has hints of color and some glossy print that is just lovely. I'm tempted to shelve this book facing out, so I can admire the cover :)
Won this book (coloring book) on a Goodreads.com giveaway. Was so pleased to find it in my mailbox and very excited after flipping through all the pages awaiting me. There are some very nice detailed pages, and other pages that are more repetitive patterns, both styles very nice as it will let the "artist" play with color to create some real pretty pictures.
