"A thread of tension snaked her way, and she braced for whatever was coming."

When it comes to Christan-penned suspense/thrillers, it's an iffy proposition. An either/or type of thing: the plot could be thrilling and the characters interesting, but the suspense or action or dialogue is too vanilla-safe or superfluous or piously stiff or ridiculously lame. Or any combination of the above. So it's a rare treat to find a book or series which excites me with all the earmarks of a superbly written mai
Such a delightful suspense read! Christy is a former competitive ice skater whose entire family died in accidents within months of each other—her parents in a freak car accident and her only sister in a house fire. She is still grieving when a letter arrives, addressed to her in her sister's hand. She goes to the FBI, and agent Lance McGregor takes on the case.

What follows is a high-stakes game with Christy's life in peril. Someone is out for revenge, and she has no clue who. The mystery is laye
As always, this suspense novel by Irene Hannon was full of action, twists, and nail-biting suspense along with romance and faith in action. Christy Reed is just finding her way out of the grief of losing both her parents and her sister in a short space of time when she gets a letter from her dead sister. I liked how her faith kept her grounded and how her strong character wouldn't let her be intimidated by the customary "don't go to the police" threat. Adding to the suspense is the fact that you ...more

*My Thoughts*

I don't know why I can watch thriller shows like NCIS and not freak out about it but whenever I read a suspense novel, I find myself looking over my shoulder for days. Days, guys. It's seriously ridiculous. Which is why I have no idea why I continue to read and review them, but I do. Especially when it comes to Irene Hannon.

When I requested Buried Secrets, the first book in this series, I decided I would request no more suspense novels. Then I read the book. And I almost cried when

Thin Ice was another good romantic suspense read from Irene Hannon. I liked the main characters, especially Lance. I found the mystery interesting and the ending was CRAZY.

The figure skating aspects were intriguing and I liked how you never knew what was going to happen next. I was definitely surprised by a certain thing that happened in the story, but I won't say what to avoid spoilers.

I love how this series is about three brothers: book one, Mac; book two, Lance; and book three, Finn. I have l

Not Hannon's best work by any means, but not bad.
Heidi Robbins (Heidi Reads...)
A suspenseful plot, a creepy villain, a vulnerable victim, and themes of sacrifice and family make this a compelling book. The villain was creepier than I expected, and the scenes from that point of view kept the pace moving forward. At first Christy is looking for answers, but Lance soon realizes she is in a desperate situation. Her anxiety is palpable as she waits for the next clue or discovery, and I was biting my nails in trepidation. There is also a subplot with Lance's brother serving in s ...more

I received this book by Revell Publishing in return for an honest review.

I am such a fan of mysteries. I’ve recently found a love for reading mysteries and thrillers. So I jumped at the chance to read and review this awesome-sounding mystery.

Let me start off by saying that I had no idea this was the second book in a series. I had no idea (and this isn’t the first time this has happened…). But, you honestly don’t HAVE to read the first book to understand this one. I’m sure I would have understood

Thin Ice is a great addition to the Men of Valor series, but can be read as a stand alone novel, as well. Each book in the series features a different McGregor brother. I have read book one, Buried Secrets, and have really enjoyed both books in the series.

One of the things I have noticed in the Irene Hannon books that I have read is that the reader will be able to read from not only the hero and heroine’s perspectives, but also from the villain’s perspective. Thin Ice is no exception. Every once
Christy and Lance's story...where do I start? Hannon at her BEST. Characters to enjoy, twists and turns that you kiiind of see coming, but then, again, not quite. Rich backstory and a strong supporting cast make this novel stand out among her repertoire in the suspense genre.

Aaand now to go and find Finn's story! The best review I can leave for a book is that I'm ready for that author's next one.

First of all, I must point out how much I love the way Irene Hannon writes men and women as separate character types. Sometimes, in romance, there is nothing that especially distinguishes the two – especially when it comes to thoughts. But Hannon is one of those rare authors who captures the mind and reactions of a man so distinctly! So we get delightful gems like… Lance suddenly remembering what’s playing on his computer and then lunging toward the kitchen in a fruitless attempt to overtake his ...more

This gripping prologue will pull the reader in immediately.

Christy Reed has lost all of her family members in the past 6 months and she is consumed with grief. When a letter appears addressed to her in Ginny's writing she suddenly finds hope that her sister is a live. She contacts the FBI, against instructions of the letter, in hopes they can assist her.

FBI Special Agent Lance McGregor is new to the bureau having just retired from as a Delta Force operator. His first case would be Christy's an
Another fantastic suspense novel from Irene Hannon!
This book is really great and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Can't wait to get my hands on book #3!!

Having recently mourned the deaths of her parents and sister, Christy Reed is totally unprepared to read the contents of a mysterious letter; addressed in her dead sister's handwriting and announcing that Ginny Reed is in the hands of a kidnapper. In spite of the clear warning to avoid contact with law enforcement, Christy cautiously approaches the F. B. I am a huge fan of Irene Hannon's suspense books, I have enjoyed every single one to date so needless to say I was greatly anticipating Thin Ice, I was not disappointed! I loved Christy and Lance, they were awesome main characters. I also loved how this book featured figure skating, something I've always wanted to learn to do. The suspense in this book was SO good, I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I can't wait to read Finn's book when it releases! Another thing I really loved about ...more
I was a bit disappointed with book 1 in this series, but Thin Ice exceeded my expectations and might be one of my favourite books.

From a twisted creepy villain, fast paced suspense that kept me turning pages right up till the end, characters filled with depth and a family united through tragedy, all made for a great read.

I loved the characters in this book. Christy and Lance both had depth and I just loved Lance. I loved that he could show emotion but also be the hero of the day. The plot with F

Irene delivers another satisfying romantic suspense novels. Thin Ice had the creepiest villain of any of her other romantic suspense novels.

Thin Ice and Irene Hannon's romantic suspense novels are recommended for fans of Terri Blackstock.
O-M-G, I am such a WUSS! I read this book with racing heart and total trepidation from beginning to end! It scared the bee-jeebers out of me! I surprised myself that I actually stuck with it to the very end. This series is definitely not meant for those "faint of heart" readers, like me, ha-ha!

I do enjoy good suspense and 'mild' scariness, but man alive, this author writes terrifying stuff!

This was even more of a white-knuckle read than the first book. I can't decide if I have the guts to read t

I should be banned from reading thrillers—they consume me until I figure out what happened!! This was no exception. Just don’t read it at night in the dark by yourself if you’re a scaredy-cat like me. ;)

Suspense fiction isn’t a regular in my literary diet, but it is a nice change once in a while. It’s quite an interesting genre and I do enjoy it occasionally.
The suspense part of this book was done really well and kept me very interested. It was quite the case! I definitely appreciate that part of the book.
However, what gives this book a low rating for me was the romance mainly, and also the lack of faith.
The romance was inappropriate at many places, in my opinion. There were unnecessary comm

I really enjoy Irene Hannon's romantic suspense. I love the cover for her latest book, Thin Ice. Being an avid hockey fan, I was hoping the story would have something to do with hockey, but it has to do with an ex-figure skater. Thin Ice has the action, bad guy wanting to seek revenge, and the underplay of the romance that is expected from a romantic suspense novel.

While the action starts on the first page, I kept flipping through the pages wanting to see how the story played out. The action sta

The kind of book you want to savor but it's so good you end up barreling through it only to find yourself disgruntled at the other end because it was over way too fast. A word of readerly advice: Don't be a greedy guts like me -- try to pace yourself so you can enjoy this literary journey longer.

Hannon beguiled me with her intriguing suspense. A real edge-of-your-seater and definitely creepy in places. I went into a tailspin when I discovered it has a figure skating connection. Sqqqueeeeaaalll

My thoughts: Irene Hannon delves into the twisted world of psychopath and how war culture creates a downward spiral into the insanity that is the life of a psychopath.

Single lady and former Olympic candidate figure skater is frightened enough by messages to seek the aid of the FBI. No one can find a cause for this threat against her and her family. Little did they realize that kindness had backfired on Christy.

By developing characters rich in uplifting qualities and throwing them in the midst o

Thin Ice by Irene Hannon is hard to put down. I was halfway through the book and had no idea if Ginny was alive or not. I am a huge fan of Irene Hannon and consider this one of her best books. The characters are likable and real.
Christy was an ice skater who has recently lost her parents and her sister. Lance is an ex Delta Force operator now a rookie on the FBI team in St Louis. I loved Lance’s character. Hannon made him real, with an interesting back story, good family relationships, and the

If you're a suspense/mystery fan, then I highly recommend Irene Hannon's books. She never disappoints. The action and tension are very high in her books, and her writing is excellent. This book was no exception to those statements. Book Two in the Men of Valor series finds the middle MacGregor brother, Lance on his first case with the FBI. After leaving the Delta Force with a load of guilt on his mind, he is determined to be a great FBI agent, and his first case is a hard one. Learning to let go ...more

It's been awhile since I added a book on my favorites list. Kudos Irene I really loved this book. When Lance McGregor was introduced in book #1 I insistently liked him. Book #2 starts off giving you the insight in Lance's work day and his first case. This book was an interesting page turning from beginning to end.

I don't reread books but, if I did this one would be first on my reread list. Looking forward to dive into book #3

A great suspense with a sweet love story mixed in. Parts of it did seem to drag a bit, but overall it was a good read with an exciting storyline. *I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.*
I have yet to find an Irene Hannon mystery novel I like, but this one for some odd reason sounds more like my cup of tea. :)

As much as I enjoy her work, all of her romances are exactly the same in every book.
