I really enjoy The Sisters, Texas stories. In this second book, Madison gets herself into the middle of another murder investigation and almost doesn't live through it. And this goes along with all the other interesting things going on in her life. The story keeps you going. You simply want to know how all these things work out. There were a few typos, but it did not stop the flow of the story. And, of coarse, you have to read book 3 to continue the story. It is well worth the time spent reading ...more

Great cozy mystery

From the first page I knew I was going to like this book. A light read that is funny, and has family values, romance, mystery. Even a house to be renovated! And is very well written. Becki Willis is now on my list of favorite authors.

When the Stars Fall is a fast paced mystery with a lot of twists and turns. Madison is a widowed 39 year old mother of teenage twins who is trying to make a living. She has opened a temp agency. She is living with her Grandmother who is a hoot and anything but old. Madison stumbles into a murder and things just are not what you think. Her best friend,Genny keeps her grounded. It deals with the history of Sisters as well as teenager problems . Madison has a leftover crush for the current Chief of ...more

Once again the characters of The Sisters, Texas have won my heart. When the Stars Fall was even better than Chicken Scratch! I hope this series is intended to be a long one. Once again the mystery was extremely clever but I did get a bit frustrated that Madison didn't have at least a clue; I know it is easier to see things from the reader perspective and the motive was pretty unexpected. I really like the new character, Derron and look forward to seeing more of him. I think he will proved anothe ...more

Chicken Scratch #1 - This is my first book by this author and I was greatly surprised at how well written, well thought out and laced with humor and intrigue; this little gem is packed. The area is near and dear to my heart since I was born in the area. The people, while not as easily identifiable as in a Jeff Abbott novel, are locals I know. The Texas speak is just as if Ms. Willis and I were at the Creamery (TAMU) sharing milk shakes and local gossip. The kinks and knots in the plot made it ha ...more

When the Stars Fall: The Sisters, Texas Mystery series Book 2 is by Becki Willis. This book continues the stories that Maddie Reynolds finds herself when she works for “In A Pinch Temporary services.” It seems something strange happens when she does a job.
Maddy takes a job for George Gail Burton to find out if her husband is cheating on her. However, Maddie took it reluctantly because in the same breathe, George threatened to call the news and give a bad report on her business, something Maddie

There is so much I could say about this book, so much I want to say, but only so much space and of course I want you to enjoy it a much as I did.
Chock full of love of all kinds (seeing the house through Nick's eyes is a very special sort of love) and crushes, the mystery goes from amateur sleuth cozy to some terrifying aspects worthy of a Stephen King horror novel.
I am among the readers who love a small town setting and The Sisters takes the concept to a new level. Two small towns with all the

A brilliant sophomore outing

Becki Willis really found her stride with the second book in her The Sisters, Texas series.

Madison, our broke(n) heroine is in over her head yet again, but this time is so much juicier than the last. Every page is fun, shocking, tear-jerking, or romantically exciting, making it incredibly hard to put down. By the end of the book, you're invested not only in Madison's life, but the future of The Sisters as well.

Truly a series to let yourself fall for.

Mixed feelings

This book was good but the ending is a cliff-hanger, so if that bothers you this isn't the book for you. This series is generally good if you are prepared to read them all. This book in itself is pretty good, I enjoyed it. This series does have a strongly continuing story and don't fare well as stand-alones. Again, if you are prepared to read the series, this is a good, enjoyable book.

Fun Read!

I enjoyed the development of the characters that we met in Chicken Scratch. Maddy seems to get herself into deadly and unusual situations. This novel was one that I couldn't put down, and I'm anxious to start the next Sisters book.

I liked this book as much as the first in the Sisters series. The Reynolds family has settled into their new life in a small town. The plot moves quickly, but has a few clunky parts, Maddie seems rather clueless and too trusting at times, and i have to say her hot and cold relationship with Brash is irritating. Clearly she has issues that haven't been revealed just yet. As the story gets moving, the supporting characters get even more interesting than in the last book, and their secrets are reve ...more

A great mystery in a terrific series. Madison Reynolds is a single mother running a temp business. She will do just about anything including some detective work as long as they realize she does not have qualifications. In this book she agrees to follow George Gail's husband who she is convinced is cheating on her. During her surveillance she unwitting witnesses a murder. To make things worse her client thinks she may be the murderer. A very interesting book with great characters. I loved it and ...more

When the Stars Fall review

When the Stars Fall is the second book in The Sisters, Texas Mystery Series written by author Becki Willis. Each has been a pleasant surprise and I am eagerly looking forward to book three.

A good read

I received a copy of this book for free in exchange for an honest review. I think the author could've introduced Madison's children better and I was sad at the end but it was a good read. I'd recommend it for fully mature adults. :)

Just as good as the first

I loved this book as much as the first. It took off right where the first ended. Still the right amount of intrigue, romance and everyday life. I can hardly wait for the third one to come out.

Since writing my first "book" in grade school, I knew I wanted to be an author.

In November of '13, my dream became a reality. I now have twelve books published, won first place awards for Best Mystery Series, Best Suspense Fiction and Best Audio Book, and -- best of all -- I get to play with my imaginary playmates every day!

As an avid history buff, I like to poke around in old places and learn a
