Saving the world, one tour stop at a time.

Eighteen-year-old Bitsy Butler has never quite fit in, not with the dragons who raised her, the druid who took her in, or even with the non-human members of the cirque noir punk band she thinks of as family. Her chance to prove she can make it on her own comes with her band's first big solo tour. It’s all going according to plan wh

thank you to netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy of this title.

not quite a novel but more perhaps than a novella this first entry into a new series begins setting the table for a new subgenre in urban fantasy.

the secret lives of rock stars is almost a mash-up of high and urban fantasy complete with faeries and dragons.

there are some really exciting and interesting takes in this book and the obligatory romantic tension. I have read an arc I think as it had a few gra

I love it when I find an author with some innovative twist to their story and a way of writing that puts the reader in the heart of the action. That’s just what this story did for me so I can’t wait to continue this series - especially after that cliffhanger ending!

Bitsy Butler feels like an outsider most of the time, she just doesn’t seem able to fit in totally with any of the groups she’s interacted with so far, even though some are her friends. She was initially brought up by Drakkons, then b

Bitsy didn’t seem to fit in anywhere. She had been originally brought up by Drakkons. Then she went and lived with a druid she still called Mum. But now Bitsy was touring with a non-human punk band. The band has an elf, a half breed siren, and a succubus but nobody seems to know what Bitsy is. Bitsy thinks of the band as her family Bitsy is determined to show she can make it on her own. The oddity about Bitsy was when someone asked her for help she felt she had to help them weather she wanted to ...more

Note: I read these books out of order, so my perspective may be a little skewed.

This book had a lot of errors that had me tripping up and stumbling over poorly edited sentences. It could definitely have benefited from another round or two of editing.

The book is very fast-paced, which I like, but it felt like things fell into place a little too quickly and neatly to be believable.

I like Bitsy's character and enjoyed getting to know her a little better. I also liked getting to know more about t

Hopefully when my eye strain goes away I can do a better, full review but : freaking loved this book.

I did not know this was something I wanted in a book but it totally was and I want more. Bitsy is a fantastic main character and she's badass and just awesome. I loved the rest of the band and the other people she met on the way (I mean who knew angels could be such assholes) (I did, I used to watch Supernatural, they were all also asshole) (I love it)

Anyway - steampunk, fae, dragons (I mean, dra

A magical war with an amazing cast of paranormal characters--headed by the MC, Bitsy--and a touch of music made this a fantastic urban fantasy read. This is a quick, satisfying book.

An outstanding and fun new urban fantasy!

I was highly impressed and entertained by this new urban fantasy. It is written by an author that I had never heard of before, but I am so glad that a friend told me about it. Now I need to read Book 2 ASAP because I am thoroughly invested in this new series by Suzanne Lazear. This book did not have a cliffhanger, but there is definitely a continuing storyline.
The heroine Bitsy Butler is really intriguing: very likeable but with contradictions and a re

I received a review copy of this book from NetGalley for an honest review.

Well, I don't really know where to start with this book. It was completely unique and unlike anything I've ever read. The magic system is crazy and totally innovative. The writing was clean, and kept me reading. The main character, Bitsy, has a mysterious past I'm anxious to learn more about. I really adored this book, and just can't wait to read on.

None of us talked much about our magic or our pasts. We were all outcasts or freaks in our own way. That's why we called ourselves The Freakshow. by Bitsy

Plot: It's a fast-paced read, packed with adventure and fun.
Characters: I like Bitsy and her band. I also like Phil and Eric. I wanted to know more about them all.
Freshness: This is something totally new. Different!
Addictiveness: It's relatively short and easy to read. It wasn't something that I couldn't put down, but it can be r
