I am so giddy right now. How refreshing... amazing storyline. Thorn and Rose (yes ;D) are fantastic characters!

Rose is a very tough independent heroine who struggles daily bouncing from here to there. She holds nothing back AT. ALL. I was really starting to get upset about how she viewed herself stemming from her childhood. She accepted who she was, what she came from,

It often happens that I have a song on my mind AFTER I finished a book – but it rarely happens that I have on in my mind after only the first pages. Here that song was with me from the beginning on and I actually listened to it often during reading.

The song was “Every Rose has it’s Thorn” by POISON.

And I am starting to write this review while I only finished 54% of this book (which is a first for me) because I do not want to loose my thoughts and I am afraid that maybe If I do not like the end i

I have always been drawn to forbidden love tales, and when I heard that LUST IS THE THORN: Love is the Rose by New York Times bestselling author Jen McLaughlin was a modern take on The Thorn Birds (My fave TV Miniseries of ALL TIME!), I felt my heart palpitate! I knew that I HAD to 1-click this book! But I didn't just read it...I freaking DEVOURED it! And it far surpassed even my most wickedly lofty expectations.

Growing up Thorn McKinney didn't have the greatest of lives as his mom was constantly in and out of jail cells and his family became his best friends Mikey and his little sister Rose Gallagher. Drugs and Alcohol were a common thing in both of their lives until one night, there was a car accident, and they were both wasted. Mikey died that night, and Thorn lived. From that night, Thorn vowed to change his ways and decided to dedicate his life to the Catholic church and become a priest. That way h ...more

I love a good forbidden romance. That’s why I generally jump on the tempted priest stories whenever I see them. After all, you don’t get a lot more forbidden than that. Here’s the thing with this book, though — it’s a bit different from your average priest romance, because the hero is about as far from your average priest as they come. He’s hot. He’s ripped. He has a dirty, dirty past filled with sex, drugs, and debauchery. And he really doesn’t even want to take his vows, so much as he feels li ...more

Thorn has always been the only man Rose wanted. But as her older brother’s best friend, he was also the only man she shouldn’t want and couldn’t have.
…he was there. In my mind. Haunting me. Never leaving me alone. It was killing me.

So I love forbidden romances but this one was hard for me to get into. It had all the components to be a great story but something about it was off for me. There was a lot o

This was a very engaging read for me and i completely devoured it one i had finally started. Its a best friends story where there is forgiveness, love, pain, angst, near death and romance with a side of sexy scenes between the pair. Yes we do get a lot of soul searching too and sometimes it felt a little profound and had me thinking too.

I love forbidden romance stories. Thorn is Rose’s brothers best friend and accentually of limits. A terrible tragedy happens and changes Thorn’s life completely. With guilt eating at him he decides to get his life together and become a priest. But when Rose is in trouble he drops everything and comes to the rescue. After spending time together it becomes harder and harder to fight any feelings they may have towards each other. N

I have to say first that I see the name "Jen McLaughlin" and I don't care what it is, I'll read that book! I've never been one for forbidden priest romances, although I remember the Thornbirds from when I was little.
That said, this book blew me away, just like all her others! The subject matter was handled beautifully, and I loved that this good guy was really a reformed bad guy, so he was both! Neither squeaky clean, or too dark to be redeemed. I felt Rose's torture as she struggled to do what

Honestly, I didn't finish it and came up to chapter 4. It did not sync in well with me. I felt Thorn was hypocritical especially on the almost sex in the bath. Watching is just as sinful as doing the deed. They were both deluding themselves at that point and I hated that moment.

Love rips your heart out when you can't be with someone. Love can complete you, or tear you down. Love waits hundreds of years to be fulfilled, and never dies. Love is something you'll wait your whole life for, and love is something you'll give up everything for, in a heartbeat.

I love the rollercoaster romance of the reformed bad boy who is training to become a priest and the bad girl who unknowingly tempts him at every turn.

Thorn and Mikey were bad boys and street kids, and Rose was Mikey's little sister. None of these three had it easy--they came from the same rough neighborhood and from equally troubled and dysfunctional families. Although Mikey was no longer a minor, he stuck around to try to protect Rose, and Thorn felt equally protective of her too. One night, while driving drunk and stoned, Thorn and Mikey were in a ca

Don't tell anyone but I am old enough to remember when the Thornbirds was on TV, that story kind of broke me, torn between love and duty, sacrificing their own happiness to serve a higher purpose. You get the gist yes, so Lust is the Thorn drew me in from the very beginning, as did the cover I mean come on *DROOL*

Lust is the Thorn, written by Jen McLaughlin, is the first book that I have read by this author, but it definitely won't be the last.

The story is about Thorn McKinney and Rose Gallagher. Thorn had a tough life living in the streets of Chicago. After the death of his best friend, Mikey, he decided to change his ways and join the seminary. There is only one problem, and that is Mikey's sister, Rose. He has secretly loved Rose for as long as he can remember, and when she needs his help, he is there

This book had a lot of heat and an impressive amount of backstory delivered through small flashbacks and conversations between the characters. What it also had was an incredibly looooong shower scene that was as intense as it was angsty. Yikes! I never thought they’d get together, but it was too good not to keep reading. Thank goodness the rest of the book moved well and the characters solved their dilemma before my aneurysm exploded.

I first discovered Jen McLaughlin when the Out of Line series came out, I admired her writing style with the great storylines. I was very excited that I had the chance to read and review one of books. I admire an author who can be crafty with their work in order for me to get lost in the fictional world. This story is risqué, it could have gone either way. Well it went my way, so I give this story an high five star.

Forbidden love is a magnet to read about. Imagine a man who's on the verge of taking his vows to become a priest and the woman he's not supposed to love. Though there is much more than the obvious in this novel. It's a story of regret, of long-buried pain bursting to engulf both of them. This tragedy between them was so heartbreaking.

The characters are entangled in deep emotions and guilt. They hide their love from each other for different reasons. They even try to deny it to themselves sometime
