James Fowler's work as the originator of faith development research -- his use of the theories of Jean Piaget and Erik Erikson for theology -- has been widely acclaimed for its profound impact on the field of religious education, and for its promise for other fields.
Waardevolle beschrijving van de ontwikkelingsstadia die een gelovige (in welke traditie dan ook) kan doormaken. Herkenbaar in eigen ervaring. Ik wil Fowler's gedachten in de komende tijd leggen naast die van Janet Hagner (Critical Journey), David Benner (Spirituality and the Awakening Self) en Stephen Macchia (Am. sociaal psycholoog).
Provides some practical applications of his faith stage theory, although separate from his book "Stages of Faith," I'm not sure that this book would be particularly helpful. I did really appreciate his concept of the "public church" and the kind of care provided to individuals and congregations in each stage. Would have loved more of that.
