1. A book you choose just because of the cover. Read 01/28/16

This is my 8th motor cycle romance book this month and I am putting it close to the bottom of the pack. I didn't hate it but it just didn't do anything for me, which is unfortunate because that cover is delicious. In fact the cover was my whole reason for giving this one a shot. And although the title is appropriate for the plot, it sure as hell isn't an accurate reflection of my feelings toward the book.

Buddy Read with Jess. This was her selection = all her fault.

If there hadn't been the two sex scenes, I would've thought this was YA. For the record, this isn't even a full novel, it's "book I", and there are more sections to come. It was 77 pages long on my nook; too long.

Why was it YA-ish? Because the whole story is mired in the two main characters' shared history of dating in high school and I can't really tell that they're not in high school anymore. Emily, has just broken up with her horrible ex-bf who has the right background to please her parents, but is actually a douche and has caused her legal problems, criminal charges, and an arrest. Luke, her lost hs love, has just broken up with his high maintenance gf. He sees Emily's arrest record in the newspaper and decides, hey, I should send her a creepy postcard because legal trouble is a great time to rekindle a romance.

Emily & Luke go date, since their loins still beat for each other, even after the bad way things ended in high school. But, oh no, Luke is in a MC that is known for criminal activity, so Emily can't date him right now as it'd look bad for her in her court case. Now instead of saying "I understand, no one wants to go to jail/prison and get raped when they're innocent and this is all their ex-bf's doing." No, Luke tells her to grow up and be an adult and date him, no matter the obstacles. I would beat that bitch with a bat who told me to pick dating over worrying about prison time. For some reason, the thought of going to prison, wearing an orange jumpsuit, living in a cell, and making license plates does not put me in a loving & rational mood.

Emily, we all know is going to pick Luke over her criminal charges worries. Now while that's a problem, her parents are also assholes who believe her ex-bf's story of his innocence & her slutty idiocy over her story of the truth. Who'd even continue talking to parents like that? You'd think she was under 18 & legally bound to them the way she acts under their thumb.

Lastly, there are pages upon pages of motorcycles descriptions. You'd think I was reading a manual for one considering how much info was put into this book. What was that? If I wanted to read that in depth about bikes, I'd wiki it or read a non-fiction book. I don't pick romance/NA books for their pertinent info, they're to amuse me & that's it.

Conclusion: this book was dumb, immature, and stupid; I've read better stories in Chuck Tingle's mini stories. Jess, this is all your fault.

There's always that one love you can never forget, for Emily that man is Luke..Her high school sweetheart, Luke Wade.

Luke Wade was everything her conservative Catholic parents hated. Motorcycle riding, leather jacketed, wrong-side-of-the-law bad boy. Everything about Luke screamed trouble.

They couldn’t see past the leather jacket, the boots and the motorcycle.

She's in a relationship with a guy named Evan who she thought was one of the good guys but when he lost his job it seemed his personality went with it..Then he became jealous and possessive and started drinking..

Evan Roberts was everything her parents thought she should date. Good education, good job, good Catholic family

Then a reckless moment of following a hot biker over the speed limit lands Emily in hot water..

April six. April fucking six

A day that will be forever ingrained in her mind, her heart, a day that never runs smoothly

SPEEDING, GRAND THEFT AUTO, Emily Rose Dougherty, 28, of 220 Circle Road, Apt. B, Walkerville was charged on April 6 with speeding, reckless endangerment, and grand theft auto. Following arrest was released on a $10,000 bond with an appearance for an April 13 court date.

I've read ALOT of biker books, this one just didn't do it for me sorry, I'm really picky when it comes to this genre as it's my all time favourite, it just didn't pack enough punch for me, the grit was missing which usually accompanies a biker book..

Why do I do this to myself? Time and again I try MC romances and I am ALWAYS disappointed. This was no exception.

You know what I loved about Sons Of Anarchy? They were never telling us about their bikes, how amazing they were, how a sportster was different to a roadhog or whatever the hell they say. It was about the club. It was about their dealings with rival clubs and associations, and it was about the relationships between people.

This book. It's like it was trying too hard to show everyone that it was a motorbike romance. Because when I'm reading an MC romance book, I really want to read all about the different bikes that Spade has, and about how he plans his roadtrips with the club and all the intricate little details of the scenery as he rides. NO. I DON'T GIVE NO SHIT ABOUT THIS.

This was a frustrating reading experience. The characters were stupid. They made stupid decisions. And I feel cheated. Look at that cover! It screams sexy, hot, panty melting action. There was one love scene in this and it didn't work for me at all, I found the dirty talk cringe inducing and overall I am very disappointed. Although I do have to give props for safe sex.

Oh! And you know what else I don't like? Getting a book that has a page count of 123 pages, only to find out the last 50 pages are an excerpt of a different book.

Bullshit.

I'm really sorry for picking this one, Kate, what is my penance this time?

This is a reread for me. I wanted to continue the series starting again at book three but couldn't remember the first two. It's been years since I have read this.
The book is good but has room for improvement. Not much about the club and it's going on's is in this one
This one is about Luke and Emily. Old high school boyfriend and girlfriend until a motorcycle accident and her parents made them split up. It's been 10: years since they have seen each other. Her recent boyfriend who she just broke up with because he was a jerk had her arrested for Gran theft auto. Her car but in his name. Luke sees her name in the paper and gets in touch. They go out and end up hooking up for the night. The jerk ex finds out she didn't go home that night and tried to get a missing persons alert out for her. He's just causing trouble. Her parents are really religious and still try to control her even though she is in her late 20's. She tried to break up with Luke because her lawyer said to stay away from Luke because of his club but at the end of the book he decides he's not letting her go again.
Off to book three.

At the moment I can't really say much about Luke and Emily's story. It abruptly ends .All we know is that Emily and Luke got apart after a stupid motorbike accident. Years after they finally make contact again but Em's parents and ex keeps getting between them. The rest of 40% of the book is an excerpt of a different book "The Boss" (which I didn't read).I'm willing to give it a try to the following book.

Emily comes from a strong Catholic Family. In High school, she starts dating Luke Wade who rides a motorcycle. Her parents do not approve of him, no matter how good she tries to show then that he is. When they get into an accident one night, she's grounded, forbidden to ever talk to him again, and shipped off right after graduation across the country to University. Fast forward 10 years, she's back home, dating a new guy. Her parents really like this guy. When her life starts to go to Hell, literally...he is behind it, the new boyfriend that her parents like. They're out of town when all the crap hits the fan. What happens when they return home, and she's out with a friend all night and the now ex-boyfriend calls them and the cops that she did not come home. Does she maintain her relationship with her family, does her ex-boyfriend win her back? Does she still have to go to court? You really need to read and find out what happens in this book, because it sure is a whopper of a book!

~I was given this book for an honest review~
This gives a little taste of Emily and Luke's story. Emily is the good girl, always doing what her parents ask of her but that didn't stop her from falling for the bad boy in the high school. She fell hook link and sinker but soon her parents stopped in and ended.
Fast forward a few years later, Emily is still doing what is asked of her parents but due to breaking up with her boyfriend finds herself in a bit of trouble. While this is going on, Luke is making his name known with his bike shop and the MC club. He has always thought of Emily and wondered where she ended up. Fate steps in and they find each other again. As you guessed, her parents step in yet again. This time is different, Emily actually stands up for herself. I felt the characters has grown since school but more so for Luke rather than Emily. She still has to stand up and be her own person. This book is a short read but it packs a bunch of stuff in it. If you love MC books then you will love this one. I certainly did! I'm also excited to read the second book and find out what happens next.

omg what a great start to a MC Series. Emily and Luke had a great relationship when they were younger but fate and her parents sought differently. 10 years later and they've run into each other and the chemistry is just as strong. Emily is trying to move on without the help of her parents and with out her pick of a boyfriend Evan, when she realizes Luke isn't to far away can she get back what they had, can she get out of the trouble Evan has her in . Luke has never forgot about Emily and now that he has a 2nd chance his not letting go. This going to be a great series. can't wait for book 2.

This book is a new MC read that is enjoyable to read. I enjoyed reading One You Can't Forget by Lexy Timms this was a first time read for me by this author. I enjoyed the story and the characters of Emily and Luke. I didn't like Evan he was a jerk to Emily and a control freak. Emily was brought up in a good Catholic family. She and Luke went to high school together and she had a crush on him. Things start to happen to Emily when Evan finds out about Emily's crush on Luke. This book keeps you hooked and turning the pages so fast just to see what happens next.

Holy crap talk about drama! Emily had to give up the only thing that felt right in her life ten years ago because Luke was a "bad boy!" Well during a disastrous set of events the find each other again and it's like the magic never left or felt so right! But as usual life gets in the way, as well as an asshole ex-boyfriend how also like to cause trouble...but what I didn't mention is that Luke is Sergeant-At-Arms of Hades Spawn! He is definitely one you can't forget or don't want to mess with!
I can't wait for the next part of this story! Hurry up Lexy! Lol

One You Can't Forget by Lexy Timms

Book one in Hades' Spawn series

3 stars

Emily comes from a good Catholic family, but years ago she embraces the wild side and fell in love with a biker. Ten years later, she ends up getting arrested and Luke "Spade" ends up contacting her. I love biker stories and biker fanfictions. Some of my favorite Bethyl fanfictions are the ones with Daryl as a biker and this read a lot like a fanfiction. Sadly this didn't give me nearly the amount of feels as fanfics do. I really enjoyed the concept and bikers are just all around awesome, but this was pretty lackluster.

She loved these men who claimed the road without caution on thrumming beasts that were a heart beat away from danger.

Whimsical Writing Scale: 3

The main female character, Emily, is a bit of an immature wuss. She has no backbone and while she may be an adult she doesn't act like one. She was really frustrating because her emotions were so wishy-washy.

Kick-Butt Heroine Scale: 2

The main male character is Luke and he was a hottie. The problem is he doesn't feel fleshed out enough. He is definitely the stronger character in this novel, but he needed more fleshing out to really make me swoon.

Swoon Worthy Scale: 3.5

The Villain- I'm pretty sure I know who the series villain is going to be, but there are a lot of characters who pop up and could be problematic to the couple.

Villain Scale: 1

The characters are not very fleshed out. They don't have friends or seem to have connections outside of the main couple. It makes the story slightly unappealing. There isn't enough for me to love. While I'm entertained, I'm not making connections to characters or feel anything while reading.

Character Scale: 2

There also isn't enough chemistry between Luke and Emily. It doesn't seep off the pages. I'm told they have chemistry, not shown it. Also the book cut off right at the good part and I don't approve of this. I personally think that these three shorts could've been combined. I feel unfulfilled and disappointed. I wanted more.

Plotastic Scale: 3.25

Cover Thoughts: I'm a fan of the tattoos and the chest. Yes please.

MC romances are my favorite, so I'm always excited to start one. Since this is the beginning of a new series, it was very short and seemed to be meant to just set things up for future books. The end left me intrigued enough that I immediately bought book 2 and have started it.

Emily and Luke had a sweet high school romance that her uppity parents disapproved of. The very first time Luke was able to get her on his motorcycle they crashed and Luke was seriously injured and hospitalized. It was also the last time they saw each other for another 10 years. Emily's parents forbade her to see him. Let's stop right there. If she cared about Luke as much as she said she did she would've found a way to at least visit him in the hospital. He couldn't even walk afterwards! Once she graduated she should've done everything she could to see him again. The fact that she didn't tells me a lot about her that I don't really like. She's weak and lets people push her around, or she just didn't care enough to search him out. Either way, I don't care for her.

So after seeing her again following 10 years of no contact, Luke still has feelings for her and wants to give them a shot. Once again, Emily is letting outside influences tell her what to do. She has an ex causing her legal troubles and she's told she shouldn't associate with someone like him. So she decides not to. She's a selfish bitch and she has a lot of making up to do with me, the reader, before I think she's worthy of Luke.

She seems to have a change of heart at the end, but we'll see how long that lasts. I'm expecting the first time someone says something about it, or trouble occurs she'll be out the door and leave Luke out in the cold. We'll see. I'll be sure and let you know if I was right in my next review!

One you can’t forget by Lexy Timms
4 stars

***ARC provided in exchange for an honest review - Naomi / Scandalous Book Blog***

This book was a short read but don’t let that fool you, the story was fast paced and had a bit of everything. I loved it!!

Luke and Emily were high school sweethearts; their relationship was going strong until her parents began meddling and forbid Emily from seeing Luke anymore. Emily was the girl who didn’t want to disappoint her parents and did as they asked but she never forgot him he has always held a piece of her heart.

Fast forward 10 years and Emily is in a relationship with the type of man who her parents always wished for her but she is far from happy and after a serious of events she breaks up with him and things turn bad pretty quick. After making an impulsive decision Emily finds herself answering to a number of charges at the local police station and the man stiring the pot is none other than her ex.

Luke is doing well for himself part of the Hades MC an the owner of a Motorbike garage life is moving at a good pace for him, until the morning when he is on his bike and he thinks he spots the only girl who has ever held his heart. He soon learns that his Emily is not as far away as he though and he reaches out to her.

How Can 2 people who were and possible still are madly in love with one another move on and be together. With Emily’s parent still calling all the shots will Emily stand up for herself and for the possibility of there being her and Luke of will she follow their orders and only live half a life?

I haven’t read anything by Lexy Timms before, but after seeing that it was an MC book, how could I say no? Plus the synopsis sounded good, so I thought I’d give it a shot.

I’m going to start with Luke (aka Spade) I really liked him a lot! He’s a part of the Hade’s MC, but he’s not your normal biker. He owns his own shop and tries to obey the law as much as a biker can. Though he seems like too good of a guy to be a part of the MC, he gives you this feeling like he has a darker side too. I loved Luke and was rooting for him throughout the story!

Now on to Emily. I was not a fan of her in this story. She wants to live her own life and do her own things, but still let her parents and others around her, dictate what she does. She just really irritated me. She has one of those rare chances at a second chance with your one true love, and she keeps thinking about what others will think. I just wanted to reach into my kindle and slap some sense into her!

Though the story was entertaining, it seemed a little rushed at the end. Not only that, at 70% the story was finished and you were reading excerpts of other books. I’m in love with Luke, so I’ll most likely read the 2nd book, but I’m hoping Emily grows some back bone and tells everyone to fuck off!

Nice story, lovable characters. For a MC romance a little too nice and clean, the club doesn't do anything illegal, it's quite the opposite of gritty. What I didn't like: it is only an installment of a series and I don't believe it is the stated 164 pages long, it ended at 70% on a cliffhanger. If I had known all this I wouldn't have started it. Fortunately it was free. But I definitely wouldn't pay 3.39$ for only a few chapters as the next installment!

I'm going to start off with if an author is going to write a series that is actually a serial and not a series, please make that known. Yes, this is a serial. Next, almost a third of the book is about a different book written by the author as well as acknowledgement, other things she's written. On my Kindle, the story ends at 69%. I didn't read past "The End". Why? Because there was nothing after that that I even wanted to read.

I'm not a fan of serials but I can roll with it. The story could be a good one. I'll probably have to read the whole thing to figure it out. Emily comes across as a doormat. Except when it comes to Evan. At 28 she never grew up. I like the character of Evan, not in the sense that I agree with him but more the depth he brings to the story. Luke, biker or not, he is a typical male...his way without taking someone else into consideration. He's involved in a biker club where the president just went to jail for drugs. The girl he wants was arrested for speeding, reckless endangerment, and grand theft auto. It's completely understandable why she wants distance!

*My rating may change if I do read the rest of the story...depending on how the stories are written.
