Provided relevant info for those unsure of where to start on their weight loss journey. I liked reading the action steps provided that didn't seem to be outlandish or non-sustainable. It also provided scientific information in bite-sized chunks on topics like metabolism, BMI, exercise and activity, etc. Beware that this is not a typical WeightWatchers book meaning that there are no recipes or meal plans. It is not that kind of book.

I’m not on WW. Weight loss and management books just always interest me because advice is sooooo all over the place. This wasn’t great. I skimmed through the second half. And there’s always a stink of “I’ve never been fat in my life” privilege in books like these. So like…. It gets just two stars. Wouldn’t recommend.

The big problem with this book is the possible -yes even likely- bias in its writing. Weightwatchers certainly understands the emotional and practical problems of the overweighty quite well. However, weightwatchers is also a stock market company, desirous to make money by licensing or selling their own products and services. While reading this book, I got the serious impression, that all weight reduction methods not being in line with weightwatchers`interest were represented in a somewhat critical light. By my own experience exercise, for example, can contribute significantly more to weight loss than this book admits. Moreover, the alleged effectiveness of weightwatchers` methods were always very much unilaterally highlighted. My doubts have therefore very much increased, that this book was really written with an unbiased heart. Perhaps a respectable a fitness scholar as James M. Rippe should not have teamed up with Weightwatchers for writing this book. Theres is probably simply too much much Weightwatchers self interest in the whole undertaking. Taking all these mentioned aspects into account, I award only one star for this publication.

This book is an advertisement for Weight Watchers. I was looking for Dr. Phil's Weight Loss Book which explains carbohydrates, fats and proteins in a better way. Right now the only things I remember about watching my weight are portion control, four small meals a day, exercise and the fact that everyone seems to make "Your" size and weight, "Their" business. Let's face it -- I need more cardiovascular exercise and less sugars and carbohydrates. Now that I know what I need how can I find the time to get it? You tell me.

At least Weight Watchers can give the momentum -- I have to have the discipline to do the rest. In this particular case the book encourages me to at least begin the walking -- then perhaps the swimming can again come later. Thanks for being there Dr. Rippe.

I found this book mostly interesting. While it had information that I already knew, I did learn some new things about creating a lifestyle that would create sustainable weight loss rather than following some diet plan that no one in their right mind could follow. It is published by Weight Watchers though, but I was surprised how little it was pushed (the only time it's really mentioned is the Personal Triumphs of people listed throughout the book). I don't know how much of it I'll actually retain, but it was good reading.

I found this book very well written. We all know behind myths, tales, or lies there is always a small hint of the truth. This book helps pick out the sliver of the truth and debunks the rest of it. A must read for someone beginning the weight loss/management journey or someone who has been through it all.

This book is wonderfully full of information. It is easy to read and super helpful in understanding the Weight Watchers plan. I really liked the testimonials; some of the stories continued throughout the book, and that was a really nice touch. All in all, I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to embrace a healier lifestyle.

I'm turning into a walking Weight Watcher's commercial. But it's working for me.

M'eh. Its good information, but nothing that couldn't be summed up in a magazine article. Also, a lot of parts become a very obvious shill for WW.

Basically confirmed for me that I am already doing the best thing by just lessening what I eat. Encouraged me to exercise more though.
