Caleb. Sexy. Carter. Sexy. Tove. Sexy. Everett. Sexy. I'd say, Ara's got it pretty good.

Is this really a debut novel? Oh my...where oh where do I begin? I am still floating somewhere in between worlds, drunk off these wonderfully written characters. Let me start off by saying that I had never read this genre before nor was I interested. I don't know exactly what it was but that blurb - oh my Lord, it sucked me right in and had me flipping through the pages before my brain could even process what I'd done LOL. And boy am I glad I did. This story was wonderful. Magical. Fascinating. ...more

A long, long time ago, in a land far, far away (okay maybe not so far away lol), I had the pleasure of coming across this author as she attempted to find her way in the publishing world. Actually, it was about two years ago (right after I published my first two books) and her, along with another author friend of hers too

I am in love with this story. This is an undeniable five star read. Jen, you have done an amazing job. This is another one of those reviews where it is almost impossible to write because I just can't find the words to do the book justice. How many times can "amazing" be used in a review without becoming redundant?

The story itself is amazing. It completely drew me in to it. This book is right up my alley. I loved every page of the book. Even when something was ticking me off, I loved reading it.

The Touched tells the story of Arabella, or Ara, who lives in a world where those who are 'Touched', while blessed by the gods, are cursed to be hated by men. Ara herself finds out she's Touched, and now has to come to terms with her newfound powers, as well as having to cope with living in Midnight City, a place where the Touched are respected, and even rule. One of the Touched, and the Leader's son, Carter Dec

The Touched was a story that truly interested me. It has a great synopsis and when Jennifer contacted us to work with us in the FFBC Tours, she made my day. I was captivated

When I first read the synopsis of The Touched, it basically screamed at me that I had no choice but to read it. So read it I did. And yup, I am so glad that I did! The story caught my attention from the beginning, and I couldn't put it down without constantly thinking about being able to get back to it! I am looking forward to the next book in the series. Like, right this second!

I honestly can't ( well, won't!) tell you too much about this story. I try to always keep anything plotty out of my

Secrets and Love Mixed With Powers and Politics . . .

Crazy ending to a great opening book for a promising new series. The reality in this book is a fantasy world and the characters are supernaturally gifted but filled with emotions, which the author brings to life page after page.

Told from multiple character perspectives, the story centers around main heroine, Arabella 'Ara' Penthallow. Ara has lived her life trying to maintain the image of the perfect daughter for her father the Leader of Un

The Touched (The Descendants Series-Book One) By Jennifer Weiser 5 Stars
The story starts with a young girl experiencing the hard realities of the situation of her legion. There is much turmoil going on from word one. And let me tell you I was glued to my kindle, even when the battery was low I could not let this story rest for my kindle to charge, so attached to the wall was I. Whew. My brain is on overload. The writing style is similar to Amanda Hocking and Richelle Mead, so if you like them yo

Carter Decker has hated Union City ever since they burned his mother at the stake for being Touched (gifted by the gods). He meets his fated soul mate, the daughter of the man who killed his mother, Arabella Penthallow. They are both Touched. They need to work together because of the impending war.

When I read the synopsis for The Touched, I was immediately intrigued. I am so glad I read this story. It was amazing.

Ara is a wonderful character. She has been hiding her true nature in a city that wo

I absolutely loved this book. I normally don't go for fantasy books, but I loved every second of this. There was a little too much back and forth with Arabella coming to terms with her feelings for Carter, even after he let her feel what he felt, and normally that's where I give the book four stars. This book, while it bothered me was still amazing, I loved the powers, the storyline, the plot and literally spent a straight week reading this at every chance I had. The romance had me awe-struck, t ...more

After reading The Touched, I looked to see what else Jennifer Wieser wrote and to my surprise, this was her debut novel. I cannot believe this is and what a fantastic debut it was!!! Ms. Wieser did a great job building a new world filled with so many things. All the characters in the novel were great and I like that there were a couple of POVs, this made me understand this new world better. It also makes me a little torn about whom I want Ara to be with, Carter or Tove. I think I may like Carter ...more
Reviews from the Heart (Kimberly Anne)
The only reason I did not rate this 5 stars is because of all the dialogue changing. It was a bit confusing jumping from person to person. Outside of that, it was pretty incredible. Ara is a very strong female lead who's been thrown into a situation that has her fearing her life. She has to do what she must to survive and protect others who are just like her. Carter hates her due to their past, but be feels drawn to her and can't fight his feelings for her when she's around. This story is about ...more

While a love triangle can be very predictable, this one was most definitely not!
Set in a fantasy world , but referencing real life prejudices, the story is quite relatable.
The hatred and discrimination of the "touched" seemed as believable as the witch hunts of the early 18th century.
Leaving us with a cliff hanger ending, you will certainly want to know what becomes of this young group of friends, families, lovers and enemies.

This book was WOW! So captivating! Honestly probably all I could want in a book, except sometimes there were too many feels, and not all happily-ever-after feels either…and the ENDING. Cliffhanger alert. OMG. Frustrating x100. But aside from that, fantastic.

Like I said, feels were through the roof. This book was very hot, very painful, very confusing, very absorbing. Once it starts affecting your real life emotions, that’s when you know you’ve got to be careful. Is that a good or a bad thing? Yo

Arabella knows that she has to leave her city after the death of her mother and the suspicion the people feel towards her father, their leader. She quietly disappears, leaving only her friend Tove questioning where she has gone. Carter is the heir to his city Midnight, but has no interest in filling that role while he continues to be the playboy slacker he excels at. He has a hatred for Ara's city, and her and her father especially, due to the public burning of his mother as a child due to her b ...more

The author has hit this one spot on, forming a world, characters and story which flows as if it were melted sugar. I don't even know where to begin with this review.

The first pages grab with a very powerful scene, one that already leaves the heart bleeding for the characters. During the beginning chapters, I did get a little confused as to who is who, but it could have been because I started reading this when I was a bit tired. There are a lot of characters and all of them are developed with the

I did really like the blurb of this book when I read it the first time. Having finished reading the book, however, I do have some mixed feelings.

I would have liked some background on the Touched earlier on in the book. While the first scene did contain a lot of tension and I found it very easy to empathise with Carter as he watched his mother die, I did find it really hard to get into the storyline

I still cannot quite believe that this is a debut novel. Let me start by saying that I am a huge fan of the young adult/new adult genre as well as paranormal / dystopian themes so when I read the blurb for Jennifer Weiser’s The Touched I immediately wanted to read it and I am so, so happy that I did. From the very first chapter I was hooked and I continued to be so, right until the final pages that have me on the edge of my seat needing to know more.

The story is told in multiple points of view,

This is the first book written by Jennifer... but it wont be the last :)

When I fist started The Touched I was a little confused...
It kind of made my head spin a little haha
But I stuck with it as I hate to not finish a book...

and i am so glad I did....

around 3 chapters in I started to understand more and really started to get into the story

So if you start The Touched and feel like you don't understand the beginning... Don't Give Up !!!

Keep Going... I promise it gets better...

The Touched was a well written story. I enjoyed reading it. The characters were well developed and I loved getting to know the complexity of each one. The story really made you feel for each character. I deducted a half star because although it was a good book, at first it was hard to get into to. You didn't understand the world you were in compl
