When Dallas police detective Cami Davis joined the city’s vampire unit, she planned to use the job as a stepping-stone to a better position in the department. She didn’t know then what she knows now: A silent war rages between humans and their supposedly pacified predators, and the vampires are winning. With the clock running out on her kind, Cami

Sanguinary is the first book in a brand new series by Margo Bond Collins. Margo…you did it again. I absolutely L-O-V-E-D this book, every single page. There are no slow spots, just awesomeness from the first page until the last.

This was really good... Dark, suspenseful and unique... definitely haven't read anything like it before. Add to that a sexy cowboy vampire and well... you have a winner!
This is getting back to the type of vampires we used to know... the bad, blood thirsty kind that has you compelled to keep a stake or two hidden in your handbag... just in case...

A seductive and dark paranormal romance. Original plot with plenty of action and fleshed out characters.

Okay, this book is good...really really good. The author's world building is excellent, and spurns me to consider fan fiction, just cause I want to write a story in this vampire world - you have to read Bound by Blood, too to get a real feel for the world that the author is making. The mystery in the story is very well done. If you're looking for Dark Paranormal Fantasy, this one will be right up your alley (Content Warning: Because I read mostly clean fiction, I have to put an "R" rating on thi ...more

This was another easy read from Margo. In this new series, Cami is a detective who goes undercover with a vampire, Reese, to solve a case of ritualistic murders. The pacing was very fast, and Cami and Reese were very likable. The romance (or, what little of it existed in this novel) wasn't overdone, either.

I'll definitely keep up with this series!

Sanguinary really starts with a bang, and carries that crazy momentum through the rest of the book. This book has violence, excitement, suspense, betrayal, love, and all kinds of crazy things going on that truly made this a great book. I read it way too fast, in one day, because I couldn’t put it down! Those are my favorite types of books though I’m always sad when they end.

Sanguinary is a great start to Collins Night Shift series. I enjoyed this book immensely. It had just the right amount of e

In the world created by Margo Bond Collins, the vampires are no longer the mythical creatures of the night. Vampires are now the world's reality and, while harmony exists right now, that won't always be the case. Especially when drained dead girls with weird carvings and blue lights keep popping up all over Dallas.

To get to the bottom of the murders, Cami Davis, a member of the police force's Sucker Squad, agrees to go deep undercover into the world of vampires and their human bloodgivers. Her

I received a free copy of the book from the author for my honest opinion.

Cami Davis is detective for the Dallas police department; she works on their Sucker Squad. This just means that she is a vampire hunter. Someone is going around Dallas killing women and leaving them lying out on a pentagram. Cami gets a lead that it is probably a vampire that is killing all those women. Her partner Garrett is a vampire junkie which means he likes to be bitten by vampires. But he is supposed to be on the wag

Sanguinary by Margo Bond Collins is a novel in her new Night Shift Series and I have to say that I really enjoyed reading it.

Cami Davis is a police detective who has joined the vampire unit. It seems a war might break out between vampires and humans, when several humans are turning up dead and a vampire might be the killer. The only way to find the truth about these murders is to go undercover and it is Cami who is thrown to the wolves. Now the only thing she needs is a vampire who can introduce

Sanguinary is the first book in the Night Shift series. I’ll admit that I’m not much of a vampire fun. Okay, I’m not a vampire fan at all, but I love Collins’ writing and have found in the past that she has been able to crash through my reading prejudices. Well, Collins did that again with Sanguinary. I found the plot intriguing. I enjoy the idea that vampires have been ‘outed’, but no one knows from where they came.

I loved Cami. It’s always refreshing to have a kick-ass female lead. She also f

This is quite a book! I love it. Action packed and full of adventure. It is a definite page turner. The story maybe about Cami and her solving the murders of some women in Dallas but, for me it was all about Reese! Dang, but that is one cowboy I would have no problem running into. Even if he is a vampire! I loved the plot and set up of this story. It was amazing. There is a big cliffy though, so you are now warned. The next book needs to be out, like today. I need it Margo Bond Collins. She has ...more

*I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.

Sanguinary is not your normal vampire book. For starters, have you read about a sexy cowboy vampire?
This is a page turner for sure! The action does not stop from page one till the end. We first meet Cami, a police officer who is trying to solve murders in a world filled with the bad variety of vampires. She is sent undercover when several women are killed and she is set with a super fine vamp named Reese.

Wow!! I was sucked into this book from the beginning and couldn't stop reading. The story is fantastic and the characters are wonderful. I love the tension between Cami and Reese. This is the second book that I read that was recommended by one of my favorite authors and I am so glad she brought Margo Bond Collins to my attention. I can't wait for the next book in this series.

This is an amazing, shocking, and absolutely not your typical vampire story. ..... The large cast of well developed characters really deliver the goods. ... Action packed from the very first page we are in a world where 10 years ago vampire only existed in books and movies......This is a whole new ballgame, where there are Blood Houses that some humans go to become live donors, or in some cases to be claimed buy one vampire exclusively. Some people become addicted to being fed off of, and Yep th ...more

Well this one good book. I am intrigued by the detective Cami, she goes undercover as well lets just say the vampire's food supply. Only she did not know that when she signed up for the job. Seems her Partner Garret is an addict and will do about anything to be bitten, it's a drug to humans and very addictive. I truly love this new take on vampires and that they have made themselves known to humans. Who of course are afraid of them, and most believe they should all be killed. The vampires are sp ...more

Vampires, magic, and alternate dimensions. This is a fun read that introduces us to vampires who have entered this realm through portals instead of using the usual historical origin stories, which is interesting. I hope a next installment will tell us a little more of this old new world.

I read this as part of an 11 book deal from Amazon and this vampire book was a little different than the others in it and had a little bit of a Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) feel to it. Cami appears to be a "normal" human, but when working with a vampire to take down other vampires something strange happens which seems to make her more desirable, kind of like Sookie other than the fact that we know why Sookie is desirable to her vampires.

As with most vampire stories, chaos ensues and t

It seems that I cannot get enough of this writer. Usually when you cross series of an author, you find similarities in the storyline and evolvement of characters. But I find this not to be the case. Another Texas story...vampires and those who police the powerful...undercover, could it be?

This book grabs you the moment you open it. The pacing is smooth. The chemistry between Cami and Reese is electrifying, but not school girl dreamy or overly lustful.

I enjoyed this so much more than I was anticipating! I mean, it's Margo Bond Collins, so you know it's going to be written well, but a small part of me always expects Twilight when I open up a vampire novel. I couldn't have been more wrong! First of all, it is SO NOT a teen novel! This contains language, sex, violence, blood and gore... pretty much exactly what I'm looking for from a horror novel. I wouldn't necessarily classify it as horror, though. It had it's tense moments, but it wasn't givi ...more

The beginning of this story we see a hardness in Cami because of the cases she has seen. We see her trying to help mankind without knowing how deep the danger goes. When she see the murders taking place the only way she can solve it is with the help of vampire Reese. Reese is an unknown character and even through the story we don't really get to know him. The author gives us some background but with Cami's doubts we don't fully trust him. I think that's the start of my mixed feelings on thi

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was very impressed. The characters were so real in this book that I truly felt as if I was right there with them.

Cami and Reese make a great team. I loved following their story as they got to know each other better and the circumstances they got into. This book has tons of action and I was sucked in right at the beginning. This book held my attention all the way through and I could not believe the ending. The author totally left us ha

Pretty exciting vampire story

Was much better than I expected after reading some of the other reviews. I can see how not everyone would like this book thou ghost. You don't really get too deep into how Cami is as a person, just that she hates vampires.and had been bitten by one. We never really find out exactly what happened there, and we really don't find out anything about the good vampire and what little we do I won't say so I don't ruin it for anyone, but still it all worked for me. I love reading books that take place in cities close to where I live. I feel like I can connect with the story better.

Sanguinary is a very different approach to vampires. It’s one I haven’t really seen before, but I liked it. You have an idea of who is behind the murders, but you don’t get a full grasp of how big the situation is until it’s right there in front of you.

I really like Cami has a character. She’s tough, and does whatever she needs to in order to get the job done. She also proceeds b

I read Legally Undead: Vampirarchy, Book 1 yesterday and loved it, so I quickly purchased another book by the same author. Unfortunately, Sanguinary was disjointed, overly simple, with one-dimensional characters. Worst is the main character, one of those silly women who tosses aside at various times a) her good friend/partner/former mentor; b) her career; and c) her principles, all for -you guessed it- an attractive man that she knows nothing about. Readers deserve better than thi

Yup, vampire book. I gave it a four star rating because it's actually a pretty good book. However, I won't read anymore in the series. Why? I don't like vampire stories. Honestly, I don't mind vampires in the stories but I don't like stories about vampires. I don't have an aversion to any other supernatural creatures, just vampires. This is a horrible review. I'll give myself one star and cease writing ...more
