The Fruit & Vegetable Vendor by Roni Schotter, Illustrator Jeanette Winter- Children’s Illustrated Colour Picture Book- the book narrates the story of Ruby Rubenstein, a Fruit & Vegetable Vendor. He is wakes up early in the morning, visits the market, purchases fresh fruits & vegetables and displays in his store. With time, Ruby Rubenstein gets old. A young man named Sun Ho first watches the artistic fruit and vegetable man, Ruby Rubenstein, at work; then he begins helping in the store. Sun Ho offers new bean sprouts. One day, Ruby Rubenstein is sick because of old age. He is unable to visit his shop. After 5-days, he finds that Sun Ho is managing his shop well. Coloured illustrations help the reader to relate to the story. I have read the Hindi language translation of this book.

The story of Ruby Rubenstein, a fruit and vegetable man has been illustrated with life lessons, ethics, sentiment, emotions and a splash of colours. The time of retirement in a person's life could be heartbreaking. However, with the love and support of people around you, it could be made relaxing and joyful.
