Dead Village

After strange happenings isolate a small resort town from the rest of the world, nearly one hundred residents seek refuge at the closed hotel. Only eight survive the night. And that’s just the beginning…

One day after the entire population of Fox Ridge Village disappears, a car wreck forces several unsuspecting crash victims to seek help at the closed summer hotel. Within the hotel, they discover the grisly aftermath of a brutal slaughter. Crash victims Vander and Devon, a reluctant clairvoyant, team up to solve the riddle of the “haunted hotel” and the mass hysteria plaguing the remaining survivors. By the time they discover the hotel’s secret, they’re already drawn into the hysteria. As the body count continues to climb, it’s a race to isolate the source and bring everyone back to reality before they kill one another. Will Devon be able to communicate with the traumatized spirits before their fate becomes her own?

Dead Village is an intense horror/thriller with some scenes of graphic violence, sexual situations, and mild to moderate profanity. Books by Holly Copella DO NOT contain graphic sex scenes.

In the very first pages of Dead Village, you're already hooked by the tense thriller and the dynamics on which the events happen. Sometimes you feel in a horror movie, and in the progress of this reading, you find out that Holly is like a "maestro" and her characters, an orchestra, where all perform their roles to perfection. The care she had for building each character, the notion that she uses the words to hold our attention and to provoke different feelings at the same time, you can't avoid to fall in love with her style of writing, and you can't control the excitement to devour this reading.
The characters come into your mind, the story holds you until the last moment, with a 'golden key' outcome, Holly became one of my favorite writers of this genre!

I enjoyed this for the most part. I think it could use another run through the editing process, as some of the grammar was wrong. Patients instead of patience, things like that. I would have enjoyed a bit more of a wrap up for the remaining characters at the end, but a good read overall

Did not finish: Looks like a self-publish. I didn't know that when I put in a purchase request with my library. Writing is just not publishable.
