When I was growing up, arguments would spring up at many a family party, usually between my dad and my uncle. It is fair to say alcohol may have been taken. The source of the argument would be along the lines of 'which artist had a hit with such-and-such a song?', or, 'what year was such-and such a song in the charts?' One party would be adamant that the Dave Clark Five was the answer, while the other brother positive it was Manfred Mann. The debate would rage for some time, and when it reached a head this book would be fetched and the answer found. After this book was consulted there could be no more argument. Those were halcyon days, and it's not quite the same these days when you just type it into Google and it spits out the answer. We had previous versions of this book, but this is the one we have in the cupboard.
