Oh, this book. You know how some authors talk about the book of their heart? Well, this was the book of my gut--as in gut wrenchingly painful for me to write. Writing this book put me in therapy.

While this is a work of fiction, I grew up in an emotionally abusive household and found myself homeless at eighteen. Some of Ash's experiences were inspired by my own, and reliving them through my writing caused my anxiety to spike and brought daily panic attacks fueled by the memory of a pers

When Ashlyn was 10, her mom married her step-dad. Her step-dad is a controlling, hateful man who verbally and physically abused her and tore her down enough that she started to believe all the awful things he said about her. When she finally stood up to him, he kicked her out of the house without anywhere to go. He burned all her things and she left with no money and only a car to live in. Lane is a single dad, at only 26 years old he has a 10 year old daughter that is his whole life. H

When Ashlyn is talked into getting a tattoo covered by her co-worker Emily, her world is about to be shaken to its core. Leaving her home and struggling to survive on her own after suffering years of abuse from her stepfather, Ashlyn is still struggling to see her worth and letting the ghosts of her past prevent her from claiming her future.

But Lane Garrett is about to change all that.

Lane has his own share of secrets, one that centers around a particular female name scrolled across his chest.

This was a pretty cute little story that sucked me right in from the very start and made me smile in many parts of this book. It was cool to watch Ashlyn's transformation from a frightful young girl (skiddish from years of abuse), trying to get on her feet after being thrown out of her house with no money or belongings, to a woman who finally gets back her self esteem and finds a family who truly loves her. Great story with likable characters, and a HEA. I only wish this story ha

You know when you finish a book and you just have to...sit and stare at a wall for, oh, i don't know, THE REST OF YOUR LIFE just to contemplate all the things you learned and the characters you met and...

Oh, my god.

I think I need to take a few deep breaths and start again.

Alright, here goes nothing...

This book should not have stood out to me. I don't mean that in a mean way, all I mean is that this book fits the regular formula, and should've been the same as every other book,
Courtney Whittamore- The Moral of our Stories
Ashlyn was the last person to think she could find love. Her sorted past checkered with years of verbal and emotional abuse had shattered her perception of emotions to the point where all she was familiar with was fear. Every decision she made and every action she committed stemmed from her deep seated terror. With no discernable way to identify how she felt, finding her footing all on her own was much more than a simple challenge. Even though she had physically escaped the snare of her step fat ...more

Brutal and beautiful, one of my favorite books this year.

Holy so-similar-to-my-life-story Batman! Having attended a couple of online book chats before I read WRITTEN ON MY HEART I already knew that the author had drawn from her own personal experiences with homelessness for the story. What I didn't realize is that there would be many small subtle things that were so like my own life that I'd fall in love with this book each painful page at a time. Abusive, controlling stepdad. Check. Homeless.

It took me awhile to get into Written on my Heart but once I did I found the story to be an enjoyable read with likeable, though damaged characters and an ending that will satisfy many readers, and yet there is a part of me that felt like I didn’t get enough time with Ash and Lane as a couple..

What Ash went through at the hands of her stepfather and the toll it took on her mentally and emotionally made me cringe, and though she dealt with quite a few fails as she worked to fix her

Happy Release Week!

This author is new to me. From the blurb, I think I wanted to see the stepfather get what he deserved, so I read this. And it was really good. When I read that Cole Gibson lived through some of the situations in this book, well, it made me shudder for her. She's a strong woman, for sure and she brought that strength out in Ashlyn, too.

Ashlyn's life has been hard since she was ten...and got a stepfather. As a mother myself, I just don't see how a MOTHER can stand back and watch

Some books resonate with bits of our past. This book was one that did just that. Ash is a broken girl trying to put the pieces back together. Growing up in an abusive household, she escapes and tries to find her feet. Fear makes up her world and she struggles to make heads or tails of what she needs to do and to find a place she can be safe. Her new job as a barista is a good start. When co-worker Emily befriends her and she meets her brother Lane, her world spins off its axis once again.

Something that Ashlyn said in this story stayed with me and that was “it doesn’t matter is you have a mom and dad, it just matters if you have love.”

This is my first read by Ms. Cole and I totally loved it. There was no way that I was going to stop reading this book and not know what was going to happen between Ashlyn and Lane. They were two people that had opposite lives; he had a loving family where they showed their love while in Ashlyn’s family she would cower because of her stepfather’s tem

This book was epic! I loved it so much. The romance, the chemistry everything was so well executed. I’m so glad I signed up for this one. :-)

The story revolves around a girl named Ashlyn. When she was 10, her mom remarried. Her step-dad is a controlling, hateful man who verbally and physically abused her and tore her down so much that she started to believe all the awful things he said about her. And when she finally stood up against him, she was beaten badly and thrown out of the house and she

This was my first experience with this author, but it is not likely to be my last. While I don't typically read books listed as YA, something about the description of this book when I saw it on Net Galley really caught my interest. When they offered me an ARC for review, I was excited, but then kept putting of reading it out of worry that it would read too young to keep my interest. Once I started the book, I realized I shouldn't have worried and was sucked in immediately. Both of the main chara ...more

Written On My Heart was the first book I’ve read by Cole Gibsen but it certainly won’t be the last. There’s something about this beautiful story that I just can’t put in words and that’s why I’ve been postponing this review. Words can’t do it justice. You have got to read this amazing book to capture its essence. The writing, the characters, everything about this book is absolutely perfect.

I just finished a reread of this book and I'm upping it a star now that it's fresh. Ash is a young woman who is broken. Over the years her step father did everything he could to undermine whatever confidence in herself she might have had culminating in burning all her possessions, breaking a rib and kicking her out of her home. And she hasn't had it easy since then. She has a job as a barrista, not making much money and having to share an apartment with a terrible roommate. She's working when a ...more

This is the first book I've read by this author. The cover caught my attention and the book description seemed interesting.

Written on My Heart is told from the point of view of Ashlyn and Lane.

Ashlyn has had a hard life. Everything changed for her when her mother remarried. Her stepfather is a very disturbed man. He is verbally abusive and a bully. Ashlyn's mother has always made excuses for him and has never defended her. When she finally stands up to him, she is left without a home. After that

Gotta say, this wasn’t what I was expecting, it was better.

I thought I’d be reading something much darker, even though that usually scares the crap out of me, lol. This was such a great read, I truly couldn’t put it down.

We have Ashlyn and Lane, two people with troubled pasts, particularly Ashlyn. Which is why they decide to just have fun with each other, no strings. But we know what happens the second someone says that, lol.

Their story is not an easy one, they truly have things holding them bac

This is the story of a broken girl Ashlyn whom is petrified of her stepfather and ends up leaving home and is trying to make her own way in life with very little money. Ashlyn ends up working in a coffee shop where she friends Emily, who in turn offers to get Ashlyns tattoo of her ex boyfriends name covered by her tattooist who owes her a favour. Written on my Heart was an emotional and heartfelt read.

I really enjoyed reading Written on my Heart, it was one of those books that you didn't want to put down.

I enjoyed seeing Ashlyn and Lane get together, they both had walls up and it was heartwarming seeing them open up to each other and let themselves be loved.

Overall this was a good read and I highly recommend it.

Thank you Entangled Embrace via Netgalley for the advance copy.

WOW. Just, wow. I have this thing about tattooed guys... So tattooed guys with daughters and a thing for saving people? Hot damn!

I'm not sure why I waited so long to read this but boy am I glad I did in fact read it! This is a beautiful, gutwrenching story that made me feel all sorts of things. You,, yeah you, should definitely read it if you want to feel all the feels.

Lane is definitely going on the list of my book boyfriends, no doubt!

For a girl who's been through so much, Ashlyn keeps it together pretty well. Her move forward attitude resonated with me. Lane is sexy and attracted to her but he has commitments that he must put ahead of his own interests. It's fun to see them find their way. Great story. Big kudos for not making a young adult story about the immaturity that is typically found in that age but of the strengths.

I loved his story

Your heart breaks for her with the treatment she receives from her step dad and the way her mom is does not help her at all. They both find what they never knew they needed. Such a sweet, loving story.

Written On My Heart…
The thing that really got me with this book was the story line. It was so touching and beautiful that I couldn’t help but fall in love with the characters and their lives. Written on my Heart tells the story of Ashlyn’s journey as she becomes more self-dependent and as she works to survive. What was most touching about this story was how Ashlyn didn’t really let anyone close to her yet people who cared forced her to accept their help and their affection. After finally having
Opposites attract, new adult, romance between a young woman facing tough challenges and a sexy, tattooist, single dad!

Written on my Heart is my first read by Cole Gibsen and while the blurb appealed to me, I’m not always the biggest fan of New Adult romances. However, let me say this, this book completely swept me away and I really enjoyed this opposites attract romance between a persevering young woman who doesn’t give up no matter the tough challenges she faces and a sexy, tattooist, single da

Ashlyn has had it very hard and abusive stepfather and a mother that didn't care and an ex boyfriend that was only in it for the image and control. She meets Lane, Emily's brother but he has baggage and his first priority is his family. He has no time for romance or relationships but feels he needs to help Ashlyn, it's in his blood to be a protector and help. Will they each be able to let their walls down or go their separate ways.

Ashlyn has had so much shit thrown her way, when most people would give up, it just made her stronger. I love how she could still love and care for people so deeply after her upbringing. Lane is definitely what dreams are made of. He starts out kind of rough around the edges, but as we get into his past you see why he is so guarded. Lane and ashlyns chemistry was amazing, and this book left me with the good feels.

Poor Ashlyn....this girl is literally at the very bottom point in her life when she meets Lane through a co-worker. She has a sad past. But things definitely look up when she meets Lane. He is protective and so sweet.

This is a very easy to read, sweet romantic story. It has just a little sex in it, so it would be great for those that aren't into the steamier books.
