Kateryn Cole wrote her first book in a bathroom, more or less. Her twelve-year-old son was getting a haircut in front of two facing mirrors when he asked what if that hallway is real — and what if he got pulled into it. They built the rest of it standing right there: six doors, a game behind each one, and two boys who have to find a way out.
He was twelve when he asked. He was nineteen by the time it was finished, and a Marine. His best friend is in the books as himself. Her daughter edits every draft and is usually right.
She lives in Louisiana and writes for the kids who want a puzzle, a countdown, and a friend worth going back for.
The Mirror: Basic Training is her first book, with many more coming. kateryncole.com
