**My thanks to the author for providing me with a free copy for an honest review**

I am so happy that we get to revisit Lily Grace Lawson on her return to earth in order to save another.

Lily shows her compassionate and true self as she helps Canyon find a reason to live after the death four years ago of his son. A death that he feels entirely responsible for and believes his life should be forfeit.

Unfortunately Canyon did not foresee Lily and her purity coming into his life and instantly turning his world upside down.

This is a must read in the series.

I have read the entire Lonesome Point, TX series and love it! Lily was such a sweet and loving Wife and Mother that lost her life way too soon when she was murdered. Eight Second Angel has a paranormal twist. Lily Grace is back and on a mission to save a life...

Canyon has made huge life changing mistakes in his past but he has been turning his life around for the last four years. But to him his life is empty, lonely and he is ready to end it. He has been planning it for months and has no plans on going back on them. He thinks if he does this it will be better for the person he hurt all those years ago. What he didn't see coming was Grace...

Lily Grace has been sent back into another body to save Canyon. A man she has never met. A man she only has one week to convince that his life is worth saving from himself. Her new name is Grace and she is in the body of a 22 -year blonde beauty that is also in turmoil but now has Lily's mind.

After meeting, Grace and Canyon feel a pull towards each other but they both know nothing can come out of it. When Grace thinks they need to just get away, Canyon already had a plan for camping his last week so she goes along with him. She also has another agenda and the location of the campsite is perfect for her plan of making things right...

This is a novella but there are so many questions to be answered. Will Canyon and Lily fall for each other? Can Lily show Canyon his life is worth saving? Will Lily
get the closure she seeks?

I thought this story was unique, emotional and suspenseful. I don't usually read anything paranormal related but I loved it. Canyon and Lily's stories are emotional and I cried for these two. I was pulling for them to get through together. And anything about second chances is such a ride.

Quotes:

He went to hell and he stayed there, knowing it was the only thing a monster like him deserved.

“The donuts were for you, but if you prefer the bear claw that’s fine. I’m secure enough in my manhood to eat pink donuts.”

“Oh, I hope so. I hope you’ll teach me a long, hard lesson.”

Jessie Evans is such a beautiful writer. She has outdone herself with Eight Second Angel. I was so thrilled when I heard that Lily Lawson was getting a story. I cried when Lily lost her life and I have been curious and extremely intrigued to see how Lily was going to return. Lily has been sent back to save Canyon's life by taking over Grace's body. He's a bull rider that's living under a cloud of grief and despair for his mistakes. He's planning to end his own life, but before he leaves town he runs into Grace. Lily and Canyon have an instant attraction, but under the circumstances they decide to just be friends. Camping for one week and then they will part ways. Lily only has a few short days to convince Canyon that taking his own life isn't the answer, but she's dealing with her own past memories and sadness, and she has an agenda of her own. Lily and Canyon share a blanket of loneliness, but they also share an electric connection. Will Lily make Canyon see there is more to live for before it's too late? Will Canyon open his heart to Lily and save them both? I absolutely loved this story. I cried from start to finish. Some sad tears, some happy, some shocked. Lily is still as sassy as ever and Canyon is sexy and sweet. Another awesome addition to the Lonesome Point, TX series. Thank you, Jessie for giving us Lily's story!

"Anyone ever tell you you're trouble, Grace?"
"All the time," she said. "But I'm not. I'm just bossy and bad at taking no for an answer."

"Pleasure and hurt are two sides of the same coin."

A cowboy tale with a fantastical, supernatural bent—even if I didn’t already love this series, I would have been intrigued by that! And what a story it was…

Canyon O’Donnell is planning to end his life. After making a mistake that will haunt him for the rest of his days, he’s decided to do what he can to make it right, and then let go. But he was not expecting Lily Grace.

Lily Grace Lawson has been given the chance to help a lost soul. Herself a victim of a violent crime, it’s been a while since she’s walked the Earth and now she’s back in a new body, set to stop Canyon before he gives in. But her attraction to the lost cowboy is a complication. Her time is limited—she has to save him and then leave her borrowed body—only she’s starting to wish she had forever with him.

How can Lily save Canyon when losing her will just break him further?

I was heart-broken when Lily was murdered earlier in the Lonesome Point, Texas series. And a little bit mad, if I am honest, that someone so right for John was taken away—even if allowed him to find his Percy (wanna know what I mean? You should read Ropes and Revenge!) But this novella makes it all right again.

Sure, it’s a bit out there, what with Lily coming back after her death, anchored to the new body, sent to save another lost soul. I can see that being a turn-off for some, but they’re missing out. This story is all about hope, redemption, forgiveness and second chances. It’s a beautiful tale, one that both hurt and healed my heart, as Lily came to terms with her own loses from her former life, and the possibility of losing love again when her mission is complete.

I love that Jessie Evans build on the slightly out-there aspects of her series (ghost towns, spirits and messages from the beyond) to give this couple a chance at happily ever after. Sometimes, it’s just nice to think that the end doesn’t always mean The End…especially when it’s a series that I’ve adored. ~ Beth, 5 stars

WOW, Jessie Evans never stops delivering! Eight Second Angel is another beautiful story in the Lonesome Point series. Lily Lawson was a loving mother and wife whose life was ended too soon. Her spirit being stuck between the living and the dead, she is sent back in the body of Grace, a young woman who has given up on her own life. Lily has only a few days to save the soul of rodeo cowboy Canyon O’Donnell, who himself is ready to end his life because of the mistakes he made in his past. The only problem is that Lily still carries the memories of her past life.
When Lily wakes up in Grace's body, she finds herself ready to end her life; until two strong arms stop her from jumping. There is an intense attraction between Canyon and Lily, but they decide to stay as friends. As Lily pieces together Grace's and Canyon's connection she discovers that Canyon is heading out of town and going back to the place that was taken away from her. Longing to see her boys again and let them know she is OK, she convinces Canyon to take her along on his road trip. During this time Canyon and Lily's connection gets stronger and Canyon's past is revealed.
Will Lily see her boys? Will the connection between Lily and Canyon become more? Can Lily save Canyon before it is too late?
I fell in love with Lily and Canyon's story. So thrilled that Jessie continued Lily's story even after death. I felt so many emotions of regret, sadness, hope, love, fear, and relief while reading this story. With the tears that I shed I also had many smiling moments. Another great read, one you won't want to miss.

The one thing I've learned reading lonesome point books is have yourtissues handy. The feels are real. The ballad of Lily Grace is full of tear jerking wonderfully emotional moments. Having read the whole series I did not read the blurb for this before I started. I didn't know if we were going back to Lily and John's time, Lily's time in heaven or what. I was pleasantly surprised in the direction Lily's story went.
Lily sent back to earth to help stop Canyon from taking his own life when in return he saves her multiple times as she learns what her new body does and does not know.
The truth is real, the chemistry is sizzling, the tears and the happy thoughts are plentiful. This is a great addition to a 5 star series.

Last book in the series but first of the series that I’ve read and I loved it. This isn’t just a second chance romance, this is a second chance at life, and boy did Lily Grace own both of them. Both her and Canyon were amazing. No spoilers but his story broke my heart. I could never know what that pain truly was like for him, but just imagining it, I felt it all. I don't really know what else to say but give this chance and read it :)

Let me start by saying this book has a little bit of a supernatural storyline, which I wasn’t expecting so I was a little thrown off in the beginning.
After carrying the weight of his son’s death on his shoulders, Canyon no longer has a desire to go on living. Until one fateful day when he crosses paths with a young woman about to end her own life. What follows between them is so heartwarming and heartbreaking that you just have to read it to understand.

Awesome story line! This refreshing story hit the 5 star category. Both the main characters are likeable and their chemistry grows from their first meeting.

They help each other heal. The h was murdered and is returning to obtain closure with her husband and sons only to realize that she has been gone for 15 years. She is sent back to save the H from suicide. The H is gradually closing all of his 'threads' so that he can end his life. He is seeking peace.

They help each other heal and in the process find love, forgiveness and a future.

To be honest when I first read the synopsis for Eight Second Angel, I was a little unsure about the storyline. I have read otherworldly stories in the past, and I just had a difficult time wrapping my head around a character's return to the living. But I really liked Lily Grace Lawson who was initially introduced to us earlier in the Lonesome Point series so I was more than willing to give this story a try. I mean, let’s face it, this is Jessie Evans. So for me there really wasn’t a question in my head of whether or not I was going to read Eight Second Angel and, of course, it completely charmed me and warmed my heart.

Canyon O’Donnell can never forgive himself for letting his family down. Living a careless and reckless life ended up costing him those things that were the most precious to him. Now believing that he should pay for the mistakes he made, he has made the final decision to try to put things right before ending his life. Lily Grace's life was taken from her too soon leaving behind a husband she loved and two young boys she adored. But she has now been given an opportunity to briefly return to the living, albeit in someone else's body, to help save a damaged and tortured soul before it's too late. But as Lily tries fervently to convince Canyon that he deserves many more years of life while keeping her own fate a secret, an emotional connection which neither one of them ever expected begins to develop dangling in front of them the possibility of a second chance at love. But now Lily must try to explain to Canyon that although her time left is short, he must look towards a long future with the living despite the fact that she is unable to be a part of it.

Not surprisingly, Ms. Evans quickly quashed my uncertainties with every turn of the page as I found myself so intensely focused on the love affair developing between these two characters, what I perceived in my own head might be an issue absolutely was not! I loved both the strengths and weaknesses of each of these characters and the compassion they felt for one another despite the inner turmoil with which they both struggled. Eight Second Angel made me laugh, made me cry, and from time to time made me fan myself from the heat and passionate sparks that flew between Canyon and Lily. Sometimes in life (and in death), fate steps in to bring two souls together who were unknowingly looking for their match to rise them up far beyond that which we may neither understand nor are we able to control.

Man oh man, where do I start with this review? Well let's just start with I think I have pretty much read the whole Lonesome Point series. And I say think, because I think I have missed one book. And each and every time Mrs. Evans pulls you on an emotional roller-coaster of emotions in each and every story. And I just knew that this story wouldn't be any different. This book follows Lily and Canyon. I was wondering how Mrs. Evans was going to bring Lily book to life since Lily has already passed on.

This book hit really really close to home for me. I don't want to make this about faith or religion or whatever you may or may not believe in. But I think as humans or maybe it's just me, but I think about the what ifs? The do spirits of passed ones really come back. The if I could just have one more moment to just say goodbye. What would you do?

oh Lily. I have to say that even though Lily is now inhibiting a different body, she is the same sweet Lily. She has been given the chance to come back to earth to help save another lost soul. But she also has her own agenda of saying goodbye to her family, especially her boy's who she didn't get the chance to say goodbye to. But she soon finds out that the short time she feels she has been away is actually longer.

I loved Canyon right away and my heart broke for him. He's sweet and caring. But just can't get over the guilt and death of his son. He doesn't feel like he deserves to live. I loved the moment at the end when it hits him like a ton of bricks, that yes, yes he did really want to live.

This is a very sweet and touching second chance romance for both characters. And not just a second chance romance, but a second chance at life for both characters. This book captured my attention from being to end. It was sweet, touching and heartbreaking all at the same time. Make sure you have copious amounts of tissues, ice cream, chocolate on hand while reading.

I'm giving this book 5 out of 5 Stars!!!!!

After so many months wandering the world in-between, light and weightless as a feather, coming back into a human body hurt like hell.

And so begins the story of Lily Grace Lawson and Canyon O'Donnell in EIGHT SECOND ANGEL, the follow-up novella to ROPES AND REVENGE in the Lonesome Point, Texas, series by Jessie Evans.

Lily Grace, wife of John Lawson, was killed in ROPES AND REVENGE, and, feeling that she still has unfinished business in the here and now, has been in the 'in-between,' unwilling to cross over. Canyon O'Donnell has suffered great loss himself, and, feeling that this world would be better without him, has decided to take matters into his own hands. It's up to Lily Grace to show him just how precious life is.

Jessie is one of my go-to authors. I just love the way that she writes, her words, her characters, the love that she infuses into each of her stories. Jessie's Lonesome Point, Texas, series is one of my favorites, full of strong sexy cowboys, women full of sass and strength, and tales of overcoming odds that sometimes seem impossible.

EIGHT SECOND ANGEL is a true second-chance romance, of sorts. Both Lily Grace and Canyon are living in the past, and it isn't until the possibility of losing each other in the now arises that each are able to let go of what was and find the redemption that they seek.

This story may be one of my absolute favorites in the series. It's full of love, loss, tears, smiles, and, yes, plenty of steamy sexy time, too. Canyon and Lily Grace touched my heart, making me want their HEA from early on. I happily recommend this book, and the whole Lonesome Point series, with 5+ 'I'm crying, I'm smiling, life IS good and beautiful' stars.

A Review of Eight Second Angel by Jessie Evans

Sweet and sad story of Love - 5+++ stars

Love is heaven that hurts like hell...

Rodeo cowboy Canyon O'Donnell is a champion with more national titles than any pro bull rider in history. He's also one week away from ending his own life. Haunted by mistakes from his past, Canyon isn't looking for redemption, let alone love. But when a beautiful girl with her own tragic past practically falls into his lap, he can't resist taking her under his wing. He can't promise her forever, but maybe he can help ease her pain.

A little over a year ago, Lily Lawson was murdered. Now she's back on earth in a new body, sent to redeem a lost soul before it's too late. But her first good will mission is complicated by a powerful attraction to the tortured cowboy she's been sent to save. Soon she wishes she could promise Canyon forever, but she only has a few days and time is running out.

Lily's willing to do whatever it takes to save Canyon's life. But what if the one thing he needs--her love--is the one thing she can never give?

Like all of Jessie's other books, I really LOVED this one -- although, I'm not sure that I would call it a Lonesome Point Texas book. I had not read the blurb about the book, so I was totally thrown when I realized who Lily Grace was. We got a mention of a couple of people from there, but Canyon and this version of Lily Grace were never part of the town.

This really made me stop and think, what would it be like to come face-to-face with someone in the future that tells me she is my Mother and that she wanted to let me know how much she loved me and that she didn't blame me for her death. Would I be able to believe it and how would I feel knowing that she would go away again? A very poignant book you don't want to miss.

Canyon has been riding the circuit, drugs and drinking have become a way of life. returning home to his wife and son in between rodeos. He feels like he has the best of both worlds. Picking up his son Aaron from school. Never mind the alcohol he has had along with the drugs he felt all right. But that one decision would change his life. When he loses it all. Now four years later he is ready to end it all. His wife has moved on and remarried, his son Aaron in the ground. There is nothing left for him. Grace Heller is ending her life, when Lily is sent back to inhabit Grace's body has a chance to change Grace's life. Even though it is her inside she knows she needs to make a difference before she can move on. When Canyon saves her from throwing herself off that roof, she knows that he is the one she is here to save. Lily doesn't think much time has passed by since she died. She needs to save Canyon but she can't wait to see her sons again. To find some way to show them that she is ok and that life will be ok with her gone. Canyon isn't going to let nothing stand in his way of ending it. No matter what he feels with Grace.

This is a totally different book from the rest of the Lonesome Point series. It can be read a s a stand alone. Two broken souls that are ready to end their suffering have to come to terms with maybe there is a chance at a fulfilling life. Lily thinks she will get the chance to say goodbye. She loved her husband and her sons. She wasn't that person anymore. What she felt for Canyon was different that what she felt for her family. Maybe this was a chance at a new life. But she wasn't here to stay.

Jessie does it again! How she manages to make me sniffle, smile, ugly cry, laugh out loud, and jump up and do a happy dance over the course of one story I will never know.

Be prepared to be immediately sucked into the story. It is poignant and well-written; it is truly a sad story without being cliched or sappy. I was wondering how I would be able to handle the content of the book but Jessie treats the idea of suicide with much appreciated kid gloves.

To me these characters were flawlessly written. I loved Lily Grace from the previous Lonesome Point books and was heart-broken when she was murdered. But this new incarnation is just as easy to love. And Canyon ::fans self:: talk about a man with some demons, but that makes me love his character even more. They couldn't have been written more perfectly for the story and each other.

As I go back and think about the book as I write this review I appreciate the story and characters even more. You are seriously missing out if you don't read Canyon and Lily Grace's story. After reading it you will truly understand the meaning of the phrase "Love conquers all."

Oh wow Jessie has done it again… I cried so hard throughout this book, and the tears were well worth it…
Lili is in the “in between” of life and death. She had recently helped John and Percy get together which led to solving her murder in the last book, Ropes and Revenge.
This is such a beautiful story that sends Lili to help someone in need. She is sent down through another body; however, there is only a short time in which she can use this body to try to save Canyon. Canyon is planning to end his life when he saves Lily/Grace. There is an immediate attraction but neither is thinking of anything but the next few days they have left. Lili only has a short time to get Canyon to see that he deserves to live. They end up on a "just friends" road trip. Will they act upon their attraction? Will she be able to convince Canyon that he deserves to live? This was such an amazing story and so deserving of Lili! I loved this book by Jessie!!!

I'm so glad that we got to witness Lily Grace Lawson coming back to help save another's life after her life was cut tragically short.

Lily comes back to help Canyon O'Donnell, who lost his own son four years earlier and feels he no longer has a reason to live due to the fact he feels responsible. What Canyon doesn't expect is the selfless, compassionate woman that Lily Grace turns out to be.

Will Lily Grace be able to show him the many reasons he still has to live? Will the two of them fall for each other? And maybe biggest of all, what happens when Lily Grace must return to the in-between?

While this was a novella, it had everything it needed. Jessie Evans did a fantastic job with this story and I liked how it was developed and how it unfolded. A definite must read for fans of the Lonesome Point series!

TAKE TWO!!!!!

Second Chances, Another Opportunity, A Do Over, Another Take or A Reward......whatever you wanna call it, it was a blessing in disguise for Lily Lawson and Canyon O'Donnell.

Lily and Canyon got to experience the one thing they both never thought they would have a chance to again......they found LOVE.

What a beautiful ride EIGHT SECOND ANGEL has been, I fell in love with the first book in the Lonesome Point series but this one emotionally stripped me bare....my emotions were off the charts, I laughed, I cried and I even yelled but it was all worth it.

Jessie Evans once again made me feel so close to the characters that I understood their set of mind...I recommend this book and the previous ones as well, you will not regret it. I do wished I could give more than five stars. Take a bow, Jessie this is by far your best novella ever.

Wow this one starts off with one heartbreaking start. I already has some tears flowing from the prologue. It gets even more heartbreaking to see Canyon get to the point he's ready to take his own life. Lily who was murdered and who some will remember from earlier books. She is set down to do a mission of showing Canyon his life is worth saving. This a little different, but a good different. Life is so unfair sometimes and it's hard to watch Lily come to terms with her previous life. Plus seeing Canyon and her getting closer when there is a time limit for how long Lily can help. But of course Jessie never leaves us hanging. The epilogue was beautiful and the perfect touch. Definitely have the tissues handy for this one.

4.5+ stars. Another great addition to the series.
For fans of the Lonesome Point series - you will enjoy getting to know Lily Grace better. She's coming down from the heavens to help a depressed and lonely cowboy find joy in life again. Will she succeed only to be spirited back from where she came? It was great to get to know another character we've met from this series who had such a sad and tragic ending. Canyon's story is just as devastating. As always - Jessie Evans can weave in pain and heartbreak around love and romance. This is a great novella addition to the series. LOVE THIS SERIES!!

Unique!

I must admit I haven't read the book that Lily Grace was murdered in. I kept seeing the teasers for Eight Second Angel, and even though I don't like reading about anything to do with death or anything paranormal, it just kept pulling at me. So here I am. I've read it and loved it. Canyon is a man living with guilt that no parent should have to bare. Lily Grace, while wanting to help save him, just wants to see her babies one more time. For being a short novella, it packs it in as a love story I won't forget soon. Also, I do believe that people should get second chances, depending on the situation. Ms. Evans wrote a very unique romance with this one!

Not the typical Lonesome Point story, but an interesting one nonetheless. In this book we get to visit Lily Lawson again. She is sent back to earth to help a troubled soul find his way. Canyon O'Donnell is haunted by his past. So much so, he can't see his way to a future. This is the story of their beautiful journey for Lily to put to rest her past and Canyon to find his future. Very well done and I would definitely recommend.
