¡Madre de dios! This books is breathtaking. Maddie's story is touching, she made me cry and laugh sometimes... I think it is a novel that makes you think a lot about the world and racial differences, and about yourself and the pain that we sometimes inadvertently loaded and that builds up inside us until we tear us the heart apart... Aced is an amazing story, Jennifer Lane knows how to steal the reader's heart. I'm totally obsessed with the Ramirez family.

My favorite thing about Jennifer Lane’s books is the characterization. She creates such warm, likable, real characters. Every chapter I look forward to seeing what they’re up to. It’s especially exciting when one of the leads is the president’s son! In this story, the lead characters come a long way. One learns tolerance while the other learns acceptance. The author’s background in psychology adds so much depth to their growth in a highly believable way. It was also fun to get to “play” with Luc ...more

Full disclosure: I seldom read books considered 'New Adult', I've never had interest in college volleyball (or the sport in general), and I rarely read political books because they tend to be heavy-handed toward one party or issue. ACED, and its predecessor BLOCKED, is a political, sports, NA novel. And I absolutely loved this book.

You might wonder why I'd even pick up this book to begin with, considering it's all the things I claim to not read. That answer is simple: The author. Jennifer Lane

I think I like Aced even better than Blocked!

Jennifer Lane's done it again, and I zoomed through this one in one sitting, much to my family's chagrin.

I loved Alejandro, and loved, loved loved Maddie. I loved that they both had issues, but the plot's pace was lightning quick and kept me guessing.

I am so happy to read a book with a strong female lead who knows what she wants. And I really enjoyed Alejandro. He's sexy, he's smart, he's ambitious, but he's warm and focused on taking care of his fam

I was sent an ARC for an honest review.

Book 1 is the story of Lucia and Dane, while book 2 is the story of Alejandro (Lucia's brother) and Maddie (Lucia's BFF).

Governor Ramirez has been elected as President causing the lives of the Ramirez children to significantly change. Alejandro is a Med student at John Hopkins University, active Catholic and over protective big brother. Maddie Brooks is an all star volleyball player, Olympian hopeful, and also looking for a future in medicine.

Received from the author for a honest review. Aced is the second book in the Blocked Series. This one starts right were we left off. Elections are over and a new president is elected. This story, just like the first, covers some pretty serious and current topics.
Maddie has just been dumped by her long time boyfriend and this time Lucy is the one to help. Just like real life Maddie must find herself before she can start anything new even if it is with the serious, straight-forward older brother

So sweet

I was very excited and anxiously waiting for the second book in this series. At first I was confused not realizing the second book www not a continuation of Dane and Lucia's story, but was not disappointed at all.

Maddie and Alejandro were very cute and I enjoyed reading their story. The author did a fantastic job of building a world that engaged you and keeping you there until the last page. Great story, wonderful read.

I like the whole interacial love thing, how Maddie didn't care about the racism and loved Alex anyways. I also like how they would speak Spanish and the religon about staying chaste was good.

I have been so looking forward to reading Aced, which is the second book of the series. Wow! Once again Ms. Lane produces a story that is packed full with such noteworthy topics. Ranging from depression (which most tend not to speak of), racial issues, single family homes, and typical college breakups.
Aced focuses on Maddie who will be graduating from college come the end of spring. She is suffering through a totally unexpected breakup. When Lucy's brother Alejandro pops into their college to r

Jesus, Jose y Maria... donde has estado toda mi vida Alejandro? I am so on my way to find Father Jacob, Lord forgive me for I have sinned and lusted over the hottie known as ALEJANDRO.

Blocked hooked me, but Aced, OH MY GAWD!!!! Aced just won me over. Alejandro, aka hotajandro has become the love of my life. Yup, dibs he's all mine chicas. His protective nature, his strong presence, his intellect and his overall demeanor made fall and made me fall hard! Oh and he's a LATINO, DIOS, I JUST DIED!!!

Oh my goodness. I loved Blocked but I think Aced even surpassed it. Maddie and Alejandro are an unlikely pair at the beginning but by the end of the story you can't imagine them NOT being together. The story is character driven (my favorite type) and it is so refreshing in NA to have a hero that isn't full of machismo. Not that Alejandro isn't hot...he IS. But he's kind, considerate, responsible. The type guy I'd want in real life. The author threw a curve in the story that I didn't expect which ...more

Wow another incredible book by the talented Jennifer Lane, I absolutely enjoyed reading Aced.

Maddie and Alejandro are perfect for each other, it's been interesting reading through their relationship and how they get through the difficult things thrown in their way.

It's so upsetting to know there's so much racial hate between people. I've never read a book that includes racial hate before and I really like that you did. I really loved the storyline and the characters, it was a great read

As an old saying goes "Best-laid plans of mice and men oft go astray" the hot Latin Alejandro, set to become a star baseball pro, ends up a med school student, dreaming of healing athletes injuries such as the one that ended his own soaring sports carrier. On the other hand sweet vibrant Maddie, with a head full of curls and a heart full of gold, who does not shy to look a president in the eye and "serve" the bold truth of regardless of skin colors we all bleed the same. A 4.5 rating book for me.

After having read and immensely enjoyed Blocked over the Summer, I had been very intrigued about Aced, and eagerly awaiting its release. Most heartfelt thanks to the author, who provided an ARC and therefore, I am giving here an honest review.

I thought it would be a challenge for her to make Alejandro, one of the main characters, likeable, as his couple of scenes in his sister's book were not stellar, in my opinion. To me he came across as an intolerant, arrogant, over

So after Lucia finding her love match, it's now her brother Alejandro's turn to get lucky. At least that's what we hope. Alejandro is in med school and even though he's really good looking, he doesn't have a girlfriend and he is a virgin due to his strong beliefs. Alex really wants to do what's right and please his father. That includes being the most protective brother you have ever seen, which drives Lucia and his little brother Mateo nuts most of the time. My Review:

Listen up, people!! If you haven’t started Jennifer Lane’s Blocked series yet, get to it! Aced was a one sitting, take it to the bathroom with you, stay up until 4 a.m. to finish it read.

I received an advanced copy of Aced by the author in exchange for an honest review. I have never read anything by this author, but the book blurb intrigued me since I enjoy sports and romance. This story begins with a girl named Madison, Maddie for short. Maddie has found herself in a deep depression ever since her boyfriend broke up with her after three years. With all of her past family and relationship issues, she doesn’t know how to see around her low self-esteem—thinking that she is just no ...more

If you liked author Jennifer Lane's Blocked, you will love Aced. Trust me. Because I really liked Blocked and I ended up liking Aced even more. The combination of sports and politics was brilliant in the first book, so naturally I was looking forward to read more of the same. And oh my God! I instantly fell in love with Maddie and Alejandro.

Blocked captivated my attention from start to finish and Aced did not disappoint. Aced focused on issues which most shy to discuss; racial issues and discrimination, depression, abandonment and family issues, homophobia. Lane did not only highlight the importance of these issues but showed how we can change for the better. The quote that stayed with me was, "I try not to focus on differences in our skin color, but pay attention to similarities in our character.....It’s not what divides us; it’s ...more

Aced is just as amazing as Blocked but I think in this one we see a lot more politics and beliefs about religion, racism and other important subjects in present society, the book might be controversia

OMG... I loved reading Blocked which is Book 1 in the Blocked Series, which I highly recommend in reading before you dive into this AMAZING Book 2 - Aced. As all the characters from the 1st one do cross over in this one. As I was kind of left hanging in who's parent was going to be elected the President of USA, we get to know in the 1st chapter - phew! lol

I love romance books. I love sports books. I really love sports romance books, and Lane did a fantastic job with Alejandro and Maddie's story. Alex was sometimes a jerk in Blocked, but the reasons behind his behaviors are revealed as we read the story from his POV.

Alex was struggling with so many things in his past and present, and along came Maddie. She, too, was struggling with issues from her past and her present, and together, they found some peace. I loved them together. They had many simi

We begin this book with the answer to that grueling cliffhanger. Thankfully, the person I was rooting for won! But before we even begin reading, we are faced with another fine specimen as a cover to drool over!! In this second book we are given new perspectives. Alejandro and Maddie step front and center to lend us their minds. Alejandro is the protective older brother to his younger sister Lucia.

Aced is the second book of the blocked series, Alejandro gets plenty of female attention but his faith keeps him from sins of the flesh. Maddie Brooks is an all star volley ball player and future olympian. They are drawn together but throw in politics, religion and racism will their love survive?

Aced is book two in this series and I really enjoyed this book. Alejandro is a HOT and SEXY Latino. What more do I need to say? Alejandro and Maddie are such a great couple together even though they do have a few different views on some matters. This book is a realistic portrayal of current social and political issues and Jennifer does a great job of portraying them. I don't want to give anything away but I did like this book even more than book one. This story had me l

After finishing Blocked, I knew I'd have to read the second book in this series. Not just because I had to know which family won the election (that question I was pleased to see answered in the opening pages), but also because I really enjoyed the characters.

Aced is the story of Maddie and Alejandro. I really like how this series isn't just a bunch of sports romances, but each book tackled difficult issues like eating disorders and depression.

There was also more of Dane and Lucy and hints of wh

Gifted for an honest review.

This one picks up after the Blocked. It was great to catch up with the characters and see who won the presidential race.

Maddie was a great character, she was so strong in the first book and to see her break down in this one but pick herself up and see her value was admirable. Alejandro was so bossy and over protective in the first book it was good to see him stop and think and consider his reactions. Maddie and Alejandro together were cute. It was good to catch up wit

I'm sometimes hesitant in reading a series with stand-alone books because you develop such a connection with the first couple in the first book that you MAY not connect with the next couple. Boy! That is not the case with Aced! Dare I say that I loved Alex and Maddie more than Lucia and Dane?? What I loved about their story was that there was little to no drama - relationship-wise. There was a little hesitation at the beginning, but what new relationships don't start that way?

After reading Lucia & Dane's story in Blocked. We get to experience Alejandro & Maddie's story.

Alejandro, being Lucia's brother is on his way to becoming a doctor. Going to a different school than Lucia. But when Alejandro visits Lucia at her school, he is introduced to Maddie, Lucia's BFF. Well Maddie doesn't know what to think at first. As time went on, so did Maddie & Alejandro's feelings towards each other.

Will Maddie & Alejandro look past their political and racist parents to be together?
