I am a HUGE fan of the Legends of Regia. It truly has the potential to be an amazing Epic Fantasy series, and I certainly hope that Tenaya Jayne continues working on it.

In the world of Regia, Earth is only accessible through portals guarded by elite operatives of Fortress. One such portal is located in Austin, Texas as is guarded by Forest, a half-breed Elf/Shifter Hybrid. She is a fantastically badass female character, and had me from the very start. Despite her well-known hatred of Vampires,

Wow! Where do I start, this book is probably the best book I have ever read, Yeah it was that good! Luckily I stumbled across this on goodreads, and when I read the description I thought, Ah, it sounds okay maybe I'll check it out, I am SO HAPPY THAT I DID!

This book revolves around a halfling named Forest and in her world of Regia she is considered the scum off Regia because she's a half Elf and half Shape-shifter. But really it gives her advantages that no other Supernatural being has because s

When I started this book I was like 'Okay sure, not bad, mmhmm' Lots of bickering between the two mains, but I thought it was cute. And then ALL OF A SUDDEN there was INSTALOVE .

It was so strange because at this point they've already been with each other for a while and there was no build up to it, Syrus literally went from dislike to being in love with her. I usually don't have a problem with instalove but the description for this one was a little on the creepy side -cringing-

Let me start off by saying that I got this ebook free for the nook so I knew to keep my expectations low. However, after reading the summary and then seeing all the good reviews here and on B&N, I started getting my hopes up. For no good reason. Because this was such a disappointment. The main character is in desperate need of some anger management. Seriously. She blows her top over the smallest things. I guess they don't have chill pills in Regia. I got just a little less than halfway in be ...more

Let me start by saying that I was surprised by how wonderful this book was. The back blurb doesn't do it justice! I am going to be spending several sad months waiting for Book 2 to come out :( I only wish I could give it more than 5 stars!

Forbidden Forest begins on Earth where Forest (Shape Shifter/Elf halfling) is guarding a portal from Regia making sure only those allowed pass thru. Fairly quickly we are introduced to the reason Forest loathes vampires - Leith, a vampire noble who placed a sla

This book was a cute YA paranormal romance.

I loved Forest and her witty gritty personality. She certainly kicks some butt and makes loving her a wee bit difficult.

Syrus is great. Attractive and calm and the antithesis of Forest's mean temper. I did have a hard time with his childlike wonder that surrounds him for most of the book - kinda contradictory. He is strong, attractive, cocky, a fierce warrior, and able to withstand Forest's "charm" but cereal makes him act like a 5 year old? Id rather

I've finished this series already so at this point, I have a hard time differentiating what I liked about the first vs second book.

I totally love these characters. Forest is super badass, but with a really nice balance of weaknesses that makes her very believable and complete. Same for Syrus. They're each intriguing individuals and together, they've got a great tension.

The plot and world building are also well done. World building fits its way in pretty seamlessly and I found the plot progressio
I absolutely loved this book. It was a cross between fantasy and paranormal romance. The heroine has a intense dislike for vampires. An evil vampire put a slave and love mark on her so she is eternally tied to him. She is an agent for a world police agency. Her new assignment is to transport a vampire prince to his destination. The vampire prince she is helping is the cousin of the evil vampire who enslaved her. He is also her life mate. So, this sets up a lot of drama between the two. The book ...more

2.5 stars, Dnf at 5%. When am I going to learn to read the samples before buying? I just really struggled to get into this. The prologue was weird. It was in second person and didn't seem to serve an actual purpose. The second person narration stopped in the first chapter, but the author couldn't seem to decide whether she wanted to use limited or omniscient narration, so it had a few odd inconsistencies. The narration had a sort of distance between it and the reader, so I couldn't really engage ...more

Tenaya Jayne created a magnificent and enchanting world in her paranormal romance novel Forbidden Forest. The novel revolves around Forest, a Halfling (half-elf/half-shifter); an outcast of her home world Regia because of her mixed parentage. Forest has been living on Earth working as a traffic controller for the portal between Earth and Regia. Until she is called to Regia for a top security mission; she is to protect a blind vampire prince, Syrus, while they travel to see a wizard that is belie ...more

This book takes you on a journey of passion, pain and the quest for power. The story follows Forest, a Shape Shifter/Elf hybrid who is an outcast of society as mixing between factions (Vampires, Elves, Shape Shifters and Werewolves) is taboo. Forest works as a portal patroller keeping supernatural creatures that aren’t authorized to visit Earth out. She especially loves kicking out scum suckers, who she has a personal vendetta against after being marked by a vampire so he can have complete domin ...more

Ok, for the record I'm writing this review while T'ed off because I've just had a bit of a shock to the system. Yep, it was the sudden and unexpected "The End" that I ran up against. The story doesn't frickin' end. Seriously, what good does half a story do me? Why do authors keep doing this? It pisses me off every single time.

So, looking past the lack of ending (I can do this, really), I thought that the story was pretty good. It was predominantly a love story, since the whole 'gotta get Syrus t

Did I enjoy this book: I ended up enjoying this book after I got past the first 75 pages or so. Then, I had to see how it ended. I read every free chance I had until I reached the end.

I found the beginning kind of slow. It is difficult for me to explain why I found the beginning hard to get through. I was glad to learn about the different classes, races, and cultures of the characters. We have shapeshifters, vampires, werewolves, elves, and halflings. The world building was amazing as

Hmm, this book is hard to review.

Warning- Insta-love, but that's because it's one of those you look in each others eyes and know you're soul mates kind- of thing.

our main man is can he really look into her eyes and see that she's his soul mate?

Welcome to the main conundrum of the story!

This was not a bad read! It had some fantasy elements and some paranormal themes that wasn't bad.

Bonus is, it's a clean read

For a huge fan of fantasy fiction, I was slightly apprehensive to Tenaya Jayne's approach to the genre . . . but OH! I love being surprised!! :-)
For me this book was like the treasure box full of jewellery and sparkly things I used to play with as a little girl at my Nan's . . . I used to dress up and play pretend for hours with the pretty ornaments, kind of like the way I hid inside the pages of 'Forbidden Forest', letting its fantasy and characters envelop me.

This book is pretty predictable. The main relationship certainly was. I was a little disappointed that the political aspects took a back seat to the romance; it seems as if the author was trying to create an epic fantasy, but got caught up in the romance bits.

I thought that Syrus was a little too juvenile, especially for a vampire who is supposed to be of high rank. A love for gummy bears, while unique, doesn't help me find him a particularly great character. Forest I liked more. She had real s

And we have another winner! Another book that basically made me useless to the world and emotionally traumatized my little readerly heart. Highest marks to the author.

The plot:
One of my absolute favorite things about indie books is that I’ve noticed that they tend to be more “to the point.” There’s none of this big, looping, long, boring string of Stuff before you get to the good parts. (No offense to traditional, some of my favorites are traditional.) Anyway, this book was action packed, romanc

Alright. I found it free on iBooks first of all. I read it on my iPhone during my breaks at work, but yesterday I couldn't put it down. I just had to know what would happen to Syrus and Forest.

It begins slow of course, and in Chapter 2 is where I notice something very distracting. I'm not sure if it's the version I got from iBooks, but there were two variations of Kendel's name. It starts out as "Kindel" but switches immediately to "Kendel" After the battle of the "Kendel vs. Kindel", which wen

It's official, I have found a new paranormal series filled with vamps, shape-shifters and fey that I love! There was very little in this book that prevented me from enjoying virtually every element of Forbidden Forest.

The pace, the characters, the plot development and the writing style was all crafted so very well by Tenaya Jayne, that I was swept away with the world she created.

From the onset, I was drawn to the main female character Forest. I loved her feisty attitude, her background and how

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.
I cannot say how much I loved this book! When I got to the ending all I could think was "No I don't want it to end!" I was so happy to read a New Adult book. Not that I don't enjoy others I just find NA to be a little refreshing since I am not a teen anymore.
Forbidden Forest reeled me in right away and left me wanting for more and also reminded me why I wait to read a series until the series is completed or almost completed.

Hey inhmil..... Haven't U finished this yet, lol. :P

Here is another one I didn't want to put down for too long & raced through to find out the ending. It is a quick read book. The 20 chapters felt like 5 to me.
I'm not too happy that the book leaves the reader on a complete cliff-hanger (grrr. well, more of a whine but I'm sure y'all get what I mean).
Maybe if I was warned somehow... but I thought maybe there would be some sort of "finish" and if a person was interested in the characters, the

Unfortunately, not for me. I felt the story had potential but the execution was not quite right. The romance was very week and at points in the story I wasn't sure if Forest and Syrus were 12 or 20 years old. In my honest opinion I was little irritated before I started reading this book because I couldn't tell if it was YA or New Adult. Just so you know this is definitely YA, in my opinion this probably would have been a better story if the author would have just made the
Wow ok, so I thought Forest was going to be a strong willed person and she was for the most part considering what happened to her in the past. But the reader doesn't know what she went through till the second to last chapter. In all honesty the blurb gives more information than the actual book does which is disappointing. But considering I cannot relate to Forest in any way because the only things reveled about her are shallow things or a super brief mention of her past. I don't know if the auth ...more

Real life sucks. I bet you feel like that sometimes, maybe even right now. That’s why I write fantasy. I need to escape depression, bitterness, bills, illness…I could go on, but you get it. In the pages of fiction, I can slay the dragons, triumph over the bad guys, be immortal, and never struggle with love handles. For a short time, I can let it all go, and be everything I can
