I can’t talk.
I can’t walk.
I’m alive.
But, am I living?

My name is Lily Cooper, and I have Cerebral Palsy.
I can’t seem to control my muscles. My body refuses to cooperate.

I may be confined to my wheelchair, but my mind is sharp. And I’m stubborn as hell.

I will not allow my disability to define me.
I will pave my own path in life.
I choose strength.
I choose to live.

I was way out of the genre on this one, but that is OK because sometimes I like to keep my reading fresh, and this book certainly did that.

Cerebral Palsy. [CP] comes in varying degrees of mobility.

We meet Lily. She is one of the strongest young girls I have known. I thought this author did a fantastic job, because a lot of people with restrictions on their health [mobility etc] have to be strong for all kinds of reasons. I have been around a lot of people with limited health and you know what? T

I am not quite sure where to start! This is not my normal genre, but having read Ms. Williby's previous works (and loving them), I had to read this one as well. I loved everything about the book! It is hands-down one of the most touching stories I've ever read, and I'm so glad I did!

Lily is absolutely the strongest female lead I've ever read. What she goes through and overcomes is extraordinary. The supporting characters are also very strong, but Lily just blew me away. The way she is portrayed

From the moment I first heard that the author was working on this book I was intrigued. As publication got closer and teasers and more information started coming out, I knew I had to read it. I found the idea of a girl with cerebral palsy as the heroine so refreshing. I was absolutely thrilled to receive an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have been trying to decide what to include in the review for days since I finished it. The 5 stars was a no brainer - it is a fantastic, deepl

My perfect Imperfections by Jalpa Williby is by far one of the best book I've read not only this year, but in the last few years. I wish there was more than five stars to give it. It's a breathtaking story of strength, love, and living life to the fullest each day. Lily Cooper is a strong, smart, and beautiful woman. She also was born with Cerebral Palsy. As you read the story you'll learn that this in no way defines who she is. It's Lily's twin sister and best friend Layna, who helps Lily see t ...more

"Yes, I have Cerebral Palsy. And, yes, I can have normal conversations with you."

"My Perfect Imperfections" by Jalpa Williby is a emotionally charged book that held its grip throughout. Raw heart thumping honesty. This story delivers a big message while telling a story that could be real. You might think this is an impossible subject matter to focus on but that isn't the case. This story reels you in. Gripping. I was moved, drawn in and touched. Beautifully written, this is a book I would highly

THIS.BOOK.OMG.

I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

As soon as I learned what this book was going to be about, I knew it would amazingly beautiful. Once I got to actually read it... I was blown away. I will just say that I am a very emotional person...but not as a reader. I hardly cry with books. But I bawled my eyes out while reading and finishing this WORK OF ART. This isn't just a romance, or a story about a girl with Cerebral Palsy. It is a story about hope, true love, real in

Let me start by saying that My Perfect Imperfections is absolutely the most unforgettable and moving book I have read by an indie author.

Lily, the main character, was born with cerebral palsy. This touching story is about her life, and is told from her point of view. The author did such a wonderful job portraying what it would be like to live with this disability and I felt so many emotions reading the book through Lily's eyes. She experiences humiliation, fear, loss, friendship, and love. Some

I was given a copy of this book through a book blog I help run and I was hesitant to read it at first because it isn't what I would usually read, BUT I am so glad I took the leap and read it. This story will rip your heart out, repair it and rip it out again. It leads you on am emotional roller coaster that you will not want to get off of. I highly recommend this for anyone who wants something different that the norm, or for anyone who is looking for a deep read, this book is definitely not ligh ...more

This book is excellent! I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. My Perfect Imperfections is heartbreaking and raw, yet hopeful and courageous. This book is definitely one of my favorite reads this year. The emotional magnitude within this story has really stolen my breath away. We begin the journey with the birth of two twin girls, only one has been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Her name is Lilly Cooper. When her sister, Layna rationalizes the differences between herself and Lilly, ...more

Well this is take 3 or 4 for this review. I seem to have lost count. This book is most definately an ugly cry book, so fair warning. With that said, it was one of the most touching books I have read it awhile. Lily is a twin who has cerebral palsy, while her sister Layna does not. While growing up her twin was her best friend, she didn't see Lily with any type of disability, but a smart, beautiful sister who she treasured. Fast forward many years, to find Layna protecting Lily with her own life. ...more

I thought this was a beautiful well written story. It's raw and emotional.

The story is told through Lily's point of view who has cerebral palsy. She tells us what living with Cerebral Palsy is like, the struggles and insecurities. Layna, her twin and best friend sees her sister and not the disability. However Cerebral Palsy is all that Lily can see. Will Chance change everything for her?

Personal note: when I was ten my granda dropped me off at a club for people with learning disabilities to do

This book literally took my breath away.

It left me feeling raw, emotive and pensive as I closed that last chapter. Hats off to this author who has beautifully portrayed a girl with cerebal palsy and her daily struggles, her passion, her intelligence and her strength above all. I was in tears (and I really don't cry much with books) through several parts and the entire story took me completely by surprise. I'm on holiday and I'm sure those around me by the poolside thought I was a little mad, sni

Jalpa Williby has done it yet again! But this book is completely different. Every emotion that I can think of expressed itself while I was reading My Perfect Imperfections. The writing, characters, and story touched my heart. I work with individuals with disabilities both young and old. I thought I knew everything. But now I know so much more. I have a better understanding of the absolute challenges and successes that they face. My emotions came full circle from beginning until the end of My Per ...more

I really wish I could have given this book more stars. This book is phenomenal. It is very well written. It captures your heart while your reading it. Lily and Layna are a great pair of sisters. I really like how their bond is so strong between them. Lily goes through life with many challenges and a loss. Lily is so strong to be able to keep pushing through life. This one will stay with me always. Sometimes a book comes along that just captures your spirit. It grabs a hold of you and when you're finished reading it, you've been transformed. That's what My Perfect Imperfections did for me. The author presented a strong, determined protagonist who's disabled, and in the process, shattered a lot of stereotypes about the kind of life disabled individuals, especially those with debilitating illnesses can live, and the things they can achieve. A masterful work ...more

OMG IF I COULD GIVE THIS BOOK MORE I WOULD. I CANT SAY HOW MUCH I TRULY LOVED THIS BOOK. I FOUND IT VERY INSPIRING AND HAD ME QUESTION MY OWN ACTIONS TOWARDS DISABLED PEOPLE. LILY IS AN EXCEPTIONAL STRONG WOMEN AND WHAT SHE GOES THROUGH WOULD BE HARD FOR ANYONE BUT SHE DOES SO WITH STRENGTH AND DETERMINATION. AT THE END OF THE BOOK I WAS HEARTBROKEN AND ACTUALLY CRYING AS IF I WAS APART OF THE SCENE. WOW GREAT WORK.

Working in a school district, I have had multiple interactions with students with varying degrees of CP. Prior to reading My Perfect Imperfections, I felt bad for the students. I mean that in a good and sincere way; not a condescending or mean manner. I have observed them struggle in some situations and completely amaze me in others.

After reading My Perfect Imperfections, it dawned on me that they can find ways to cope. I was intrigued by Lily’s world and how dependent she is on someone for eve

This book is worthy of being read and shared. It is an emotional rollercoaster ride that will leave you reeling and emotionally spun out. The author has written a story so unique, and touched every emotion, most of all, compassion. Feeling jagged and raw but complete and satisfied, keep tissues handy throughout the book.
This book is powerfully stirring and thought provoking. The reader is forced to examine their stance on understanding what cerebral palsy details but it lends awareness to other

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for sharing my fair and honest opinion*

Having a brother who has mild Cerebral Palsy, I was a little bit cautious going into this book. Honestly, I see so many books that touch on subject matter like this that sort of grate my nerves: they aren't accurately portrayed, they're completely unrealistic, and everything is sugarcoated. I am happy to report that within the pages of My Perfect Imperfections this is not the case. In fact, in our main character L

This was a very brave story which is probably unique. I haven't read anything from the perspective of a sufferer of a disability before; not that wasn't a heartening autobiography or piece of non-fiction. It's awesome to see someone with Lily's limitations being given a voice of her own with which to direct the reader to walk a day in her shoes. I loved the realism of the story and the fact that the author didn't pull any punches. Lily needed the bathroom and help with practical physical tasks w ...more

Having read and adored Williby's trilogy, I was desperate to get my hands on her latest book and cleared the TBR list once it was released. I was also a little anxious because as a disabled person, I worried about the characterisation, but I needn't have! Jalpa has made sure to write it from the point of view of Lily, a fifteen year old with Cerebral Palsy, and she has captured it perfectly! The story itself is uplifting, as well as a tear jerker in places, it follows Lily's life and losses and ...more

This book has opened my eyes. I cried, laughed, felt angry. Life is so unfair. I have a very special little friend that I wish I could protect. I cherish her friendship and her parents and would do anything for her. I have always wondered what goes through their mind. What they are thinking, feeling, their hopes and dreams. My little friend has parents that adore her. Someone that has a child with CP has to have an excellent support system in place to be able to cope and manage with life. My fri ...more

There is 1 word to describe this story, EXTRAORDINARY! It is the BEST ugly cry book I've read! Lily is INSPIRING! I loved how her twin sister Layna helped her see that she didn't have to live in a shell. Tragedy striked twice before meeting Chance. I love his protectiveness & how he really gets to know the REAL her. To him she isn't handicapped, he is drawn to her for reasons we find out later. A fantastic flying five stars!!!!!!!!!

I will start off by saying it’s not fair. I want to rant at the unfairness of it all but I won’t.

Lily has been through so much and yet life seems to keep dealing her shitty hands.
She goes from one tragedy after the next yet still continues to make a remarkable difference in the lives of others. She is such a fighter and is so song.

Chance is such an amazing character, he is loved by all who come into contact with him and can’t do enough for Lily. A true he

A moving, inspirational story well told.
The story is narrated by Lily, a courageous and inteligent woman who has cerebral palsy. The book tells the story of her life. From the author's bio I note as well as being an award winning author, Williby works with children and adults with neurological impairments so she is perfectly placed to write this unique book.
With a lovely simple writing style, Williby allows her characters to take centre stage. Both heart breaking and joyous events are seen throu

If you are looking for a book that helps you put your life into perspective, then this is the book for you. If you're looking for a book to keep you on the edge, this is the book for you. This book is anything but predictable. I enjoy dark books and while this book isn't dark, it sure isn't the happily ever after you might seek. But don't let that stop you from getting this book. When I read that this book was about someone with cerebral palsy I wasn't sure how I would feel about it. I wasn't sure how it would play out and I didn't want another sad book.

This book was so much more. Lily chose to overcome. She faced so many obstacles, life altering obstacles, and literally just got stronger and stronger. The love in the book is inspiring.
