This is actually the best read out of the 3 books in this series. I felt like I have just given 5 stars to a book even though in reality it is just 2. That is because the previous 2 books were so.......I will refrain from commenting because I don't have anything nice to say.

This book has a healer who was mistaken as a witch, like so many other healers and midwives of her time. Alec MacLean has appeared in the last book with Colin but made absolutely no impression on me. He has more of a presenc

I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I've been reading romance for a long, long time, and I can state unequivocally that Madeline Martin is a fresh voice in the romance genre, and a top-notch author. Enchantment of a Highlander is the third installment of a trilogy, and although I've loved all of them, this book has turned out to be my favorite of the three. It is action-packed, the attraction between the hero and heroine is electric, and the pacing will have you glued

Amazing story!

This book holds no cliche story plots that puts you off in the first chapter. In fact, development of the protagonist, Alec and antagonist, Celia fills in quickly after the first chapter making it impossible for me to put the book down.

As the title say, "enchantment", I too was enchanted by the charms of Alec and his act of bravery through the very pages of the book.

Although I have mixed up the sequence of the series by reading this book first (which is suppose to be Book #3) I lo

I was given this book for free to review. This was an exciting story. Ms Martin spins a tale that is almost impossible to put down. The Highlander series is phenomenal. I highly recommend each one. In fact, I haven't read a book written by Ms. Martin that I wouldn't recommend. Each story is creative and stands alone. This book the Enchantment of a Highlander is no different. She very acurately depicts the beliefs and superstitions of the early 1600's. Well done, Ms. Martin, well done

A real page turner!

Omg! What a great conclusion for Madeline Martin's Heart of the Highlands series. With her descriptive words, she nicely weaved her characters into a well written adventure! Her fans will surely love this final story about Alec and Celia. Enchantment of a Highlander is a must to read!

So far this book has annoyed me. when I read the blurb it said the heroine was a witch but she really isn't , she is a healer so I'm a bit disappointed because thats the reason I wanted to read it.

Also I don't know why these two are having so much emotions after having just met, just because you have sex with someone doesn't mean you have to act crazy.

The heroine got on my nerves , f

After being away for years, Alec MacLean has returned home to claim his rightful place as Laird. Only to discover that his recently deceased father has let the estate fall into ruination and become over-run with bandits. He has threatened every potential ally and ruined all connections. Now Alec must pick up the pieces and get his affairs in order while regaining the trust of his clansmen.

Celia is a rare beauty, a healer who escaped the witch trials of North Berwick as a young child. She has se

I found this third book in the Heart of the Highlands series an edge of your seat roller coaster ride I didn’t want to get off. It was exciting, suspenseful, romantic and emotional. From the cruelty of Laird MacDougall to the fear of Celia being caught my emotions were all over the place. I cried tears of sorrow and joy and fell in love with yet another Scotsman. (There was so much more to Alec than we learned in the previous books.) Add a lovable fox to the mix and you have an emotional ride yo ...more

A well written Scottish historical romance. There was plenty of adventure, a little magic, and a good deal of dramatic tension. The plot focused on prejudice against supposed witches. It had all the elements of a good story - steamy romance, swordplay, intrigue. Overall, a solid book.

5 Stars for Madeline Martin! I think this is probably the best in the 3 book series. You won't be able to put it down!

Travel back in time to the sixteenth / early seventeenth centuries to the Highlands where healers were accused of being witches and obsession can cause wars. After 10 yrs of being away Alec MacLean returns to Duart Castle as Laird upon the death of his father to fine the castle destroyed, his soldiers gone and his village destitute. Can Alec remove all the darkness that's within

By Madeline Martin

Let me start this review out with an, "Oh my goodness, what an amazing book!" I write this while still wiping the tears from my face. When a book brings forth such emotion as you sweep through its final pages, you know it's good! So let me tell you why you need to buy this book and read it. In a nutshell it has a great plot, is written very well --it flows beautifully and no detail is forgotten, and finally, the characters are such that you wish you w

I provide no spoilers but I will tell you that this is a 5star Enchanting Endeavor into the Highlands of Scotland with a new laird and a hiding healer.

There is much in this to draw you in and keep you entertained all the way to the end. There is a sizzling hot highlander, a beautiful healer, secrets, sabotage, outlaws, witch hunters, and much more. The is something fantastic around each page you turn.

I loved this story, even with the gritty, dark history surrounding the heroine. Celia had survived a very rough childhood and lived a solitary existence so that no one else would get hurt. Alec had seen his share of bad and wanted to correct all that his father had ruined. He was so taken with Celia from the get go, he was willing to make her life better, despite her resistance. By the end of this story, I had tears in my eyes because I became invested in their love. I love Madeline Martin's wri ...more

In the final installment of the Highlander series, Madeline Martin certainly serves up an enthralling story of Celia, a healer who falls for the newly returned prodigal son, Alec MacLean. A romance story is the basis for a tale that is so much more than romance. The themes of love, family, loyalty, war and honor are explored in this delightful read. Enchantment of a Highlander is, in my opinion, the best of the trilogy! The storytelling is seamless and engaging, with vivid descriptions of time a ...more

Book 3 in an absolutely amazing Scottish Romance Series. I was easily addicted to this novel and read it in a few days as I wasn't able to put it down.

Full of suprize, Plot turns, mixed with a taboo romance and a forbidden love.Darkness and the struggle within a man and a woman over what they want and what they should do. This was absolutely amazing.

I just fell in love with Alec, his hard headed feistyness, his manly sexiness, how he tries to save and protect Cecila at the risk of everything he

Alec has come back to a castle in ruins, a people plagued by bandits and a land gone wild. He has his task cut out for himself to claim his birthright. He's not afraid of hard work, but he's not expecting Celia to upset his well balanced apple cart.
Celia has a gift for healing, it's not witchcraft, it's knowledge of herbs. However that does not stop her from being sought out as a witch. Having escaped from a witch hunt as a child, she has tried to stay low key and heal those who came to her.

So far I’ve been wondering why this book has so many positive reviews. The beginning to the middle is so slow and hollow. There’s no real depth to the characters and I can’t seem to form a connection. It only seems like the author is explaining her stereotypical characters as vaguely as possible. Wynda is so dramatic and fake and nonexistent - I can’t think of another word to explain how fake absent her character seems. Basically she’s meant to be the overcaring motherly figure but it’s not gett ...more

I love books with healers! I find them fascinating, I love hearing how herbs and plants can be used medicinally. I have a soft spot for tortured/wounded hero's and heroines!! There is always something incredibly captivating about them.

Alec seemed like a completely different person in this book compared to his appearances in the first 2 books. He talked and showed emotion! I loved how Celia brought his character out. It was interesting to see how his character developed. The fireworks between the

How could you? How could you tug on my heartstrings before releasing me to darkness and then pulling me back?

*spoiler* I swear, I cried when I thought Celia was dead. I kid you not, I closed the book and almost didn't want to finish it since i felt Alec's pain but thankfully I didn't because I absolutely LOVE the ending.

What a great conclusion to the series.

Another wonderful book written by Madeline Martin who has fast become one of my favourite historical romance authors. I really enjoyed reading Alec and Celia's story! I can't even imagine how dangerous it was back then to be a healer in case someone thought you were really a witch!! I couldn't put the book down until I'd finished reading it, I found it that good:)

This book certainly put a spell on me! Well written and executed with a skill that will endear all who read it.

The story revolves around the issue of witchcraft in Scotland in the 1600s. Where healers and midwives were considered witches and arrested, only to be burned at the stake. The ignorance and spectacle of such a time was dangerous to be sure and the characters in the story are constantly tested. One can hope that they will have their HEA and light will shine on such a dark part of histo
