~ Part 1/5 of the Serenade Serial, a supernatural vampire story ~
For six centuries, the vampire Irene has hunted human prey to feed from their necks, sometimes taking them to her bed, too.
For almost as long, she has preserved her memories in music notes, composing on her piano but never sharing except with her offspring.
So when, during a trip to Paris, she stumbles onto a bar in which a pianist plays her music for the patrons, she’s flabbergasted that anyone might be enjoying her compositions and just as outraged that they’ve been stolen from her.
Her first instinct is to take the pianist’s life as retribution, but a few words exchanged with the talented, intriguing and insolent Rachid might change her mind…
Kallysten is a writer of romance novels and short stories, most of them with paranormal elements.
Her first eBooks were published by Linden Bay Romance in 2005. The defunct Venus Press subsequently published a few of her short stories. Because so many of her stories are linked as series and part of the same universe, she decided it would make sense to have them all in the same place, which is why she self-published, first with the co-op Alinar Publishing and now on her own. When she sees calls for submissions that speak to her muse, she sometimes tries for them, and was published this way by Samhain and Torquere.
The night of Morgan's bday party Irene was in Paris with Lilah after Lilah dumped Angelina on his doorstep with no way of leaving his mansion. Lilah mentioned a nightclub for Irene to check out. And after she heard the pianist playing her composition's she understood why. Someone had stolen her music. So she talked to Rachid the pianist trying to find out where he got the music from and she learned he got them from a vampire named Ollie. To be continued... it's another series that I would have liked better being able to read them one after another.
This story is the first in a series of five. It centers around a vampire named Irene, who has been around for some six centuries. She just so happens to go to a bar and hears a pianist playing her music - composed many years before and to the best of her knowledge, never given out. Thinking the music compositions stolen, she approaches the pianist, Rachid. Irene finds herself impressed with the talented pianist, who is no stranger to vampires and was more than a little excited to finally meet her. The night they share is one neither will soon forget....I will have to read the second segment to find out what happens next.
I'm a huge fan of the author, but this is her best yet. Kallysten often writes about vampires, and the vampire starring in this story is the mother of Morgen in The Ward of the Vampire. She is aggressive, beautiful, and as expected after being alive a very long time, fairly dominant and confident. Dominant women are often sorely lacking in erotic fiction. In this story she meets up with a human man who upsets her expectations, and while submissive, he is still challenging. Their story is surprising and very interesting. I'm really looking forward to the next story in the series to see what happens next since this is the hottest story I've probably ever read.
This was a very nice read. a female vampire as leading character, it's thrilling to get in her mind as she tells her story. how her emotions can change from one minute to another. sounding ruthless one moment, complimentary in the next. we join Irene as she sets out to Paris where she visit a bar suggeted to her by Lilah, one of her offspring. What she finds there as her emotions on a short roller-coaster ride. the pianist is playing her music, music she wrote over a century ago. how will she handle this? if you would like to know, then go grab a copy and join us when we find out more about irene and her pianist!
Overture is the first in a five sequence serial. Irene has existed for six centuries with only her composing helping to curb the boredom. Then one night in Paris, she is surprised when the piano player at a local bar plays one then another than another of her compositions. Needless to say, she must know more! She compels him to talk to her and then piques his interest enough that he will follow her home. Spicy reading ahead! Piano playing and body pleasing until Rachid says he must go. Now it is Irene who is piqued. Read on to see what happens next! Enjoy!
Quick Reading that starts your curiosity to what happens next and so on to the next addition. Wish it was just all together as it's an interesting reading.
Wow! I really enjoyed the start of this new series. So hot! I wish I could hear the music being played! I'm very curious about her story and am anxious to read more!
