If there was ever a need for the "Fuck-to-the-no" shelf, here it is...

***SPOILERS***

So in this, Jordie - to whom we were introduced in A Very Merry Hockey Holiday and who is the subject of the next book Overtime - goes on a crazy drinking binge to "forget" Kacey.

AKA: He fucks every other woman who is NOT Kacey in sight.

description

I could barely stand getting the "highlights" of this sexual rampage in Overtime and have NO desire to read about this asshat getting his rabbit-fuck on in greater detail.

Did this author seriously create an entire novella just so she can write about this "hero" fucking multiple other women before he gets his HEA in the next book?

Ugh. First The Assassins is one of my top series of books. But I was so very disappointed in Jordie in this book. I'm wondering how the hell he's going to redeem himself in Overtime. I hate that he slept with all those women. I really hated reading about him and the Dr - I bet THAT will come back to haunt him for sure. By the end of the book I thoroughly disliked him. I have confidence that Toni will salvage him as a character but right now I am not a fan of Jordie's. It was like car crash tv. I couldn't not read it but ugh....

Okay so seriously, what the everloving f*ck did I just read??? If I had any inkling this was just an excuse for a pathetic man-whore to shag anything with a hole from beginning to end, with no bloody story whatsoever, I would not have wasted my time or money on buying the anthology. I am so pissed I have steam coming out my damn ears and just wish I could unread the damn thing.

This is the prequel to Jordie's book coming out in May and if this is what I can expect for it then I think I can safely say I. Am. Done with this series and will not be reading his book. What a way to spoil what a fab series. The other novellas have been cute, fun reads with a beginning and an end with even, dare I say, a HEA! This one, not so much. I had to skim in the hope there was some sort of romance or even a little bit of a story going on and still ended up with nothing but Jordie banging his brains out. Ugh, I am pissed (I think I already said that).

I am not sure what I have just read, but "what the ever loving fuck was that"....doesn't even cover it!!! I have not read the prior books to this novella and this gives me no inclination to do so.....

Jordie....you need neutering or a kick in the nuts with steel-toe capped boots..... How you can go from ditching your "supposed" love of your life to banging anything that moves within the space of 24 hours defies logic....bleeding hearts??? Bleedin' whore....I have no words to describe how fucked up this entire novella was, there was no emotional connection to his breaking heart or mourning of his lost love, it was all whiney false words and idiotic ramblings that he was doing his best...at what???.....being an egotistical dickhead??? Then to casually speak to his best friend and admit he's sleeping with all and sundry, but this friend also happen's to be his beloved's brother (and the kicker....he has no clue Jordie has been with his sister)!!!!! Yeah....I'd like to see how that effing pans out in the next book....errrrrr....maybe not.

Disappointing read.

This is a gimmick. Cheating plot device to piss people off enough to want to read the next book?

iption

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that with most true romance readers, the author is going to have a damned hard time trying to redeem a character who goes out to screw (in 24 hours or so) as many other women as he can find in order to forget the girl he loves? Oooooookay. SERIOUSLY? Come on.

Nope, nope nope nope nope......... Just nope

I get that these guys are man whores before they meet their ladies but, all of them as soon as they meet them or get with them, even though they have a split up that's almost every single time the ladies fault cuz they're all ignorant, except in Eriks case, in his book he was the pansey, but in all the books, it's always the lady who acts stupid and breaks it off.... in this one, it's JT just being a gross idiot and sleeping with everyone to "forget"... it's disgusting and I hate that the next book will be the only one in this series that I don't read.
I really liked him as a friend to Karson, and he even grew on me with Lacey.. but I just can't handle him in this one. I like hot guys who find their lady and it's all over....
Not... oh I like you but I'm gonna push you away and sleep with everyone and their mother knowing that you're in love with me cuz I'm a lame a-s-s.

Sorry... no go for me. Disgusting and I'm passing on the next one. I'll chalk Jordie up as an ULTIMATE FAIL to me.

Wanting to Forget by Toni Aleo
My Rating: C
My Review:
Flat-out, I wasn't a fan of this novella. The story is about Jordie and is leading into the release of his novel, so it's showing where he needs to grow as a character. Unfortunately, there are too many problems revealed with him in this little story to the point that I didn't like him...at all. He's a jerk. He treats women like trash. He's in NOLA, trying to get over the girl he dumped because he loves her. (Yes, you read that right.) How he does that..by screwing as many women as possible. Yeah...NO!

Firstly, let me just say that Lauren, I could murder you!!! How could you do this to me?!?!?! ARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!!
Secondly, now I can get on with my review.
So as most of you know, I read the first three books in this series. They were okay, but didn't really get me completely hooked since I'd already read another author's books that were in a similar category, but after a phone conversation with my sister from another mister, aka Lauren, yesterday, I found myself reading Toni Aleo's Christmas stories, and kinda, sortta fell completely in love with the characters I'd read previously. But, the real reason I was reading was to see why Lauren kept on swooning all over Jordie. So before 9am this morning I had finished reading and catching up with all the old characters and had started to fall head over heels for some new ones.
*Sigh* I too have a crush and it is on Kacey and Jordie!!! So when I'd finished the first book and had dropped the kidlets off to school, I picked up the second book to have a quick squiz and ended up ringing my best friend and screaming at her, because not only did I feel like my chest was being wrenched apart when Jordie decided to hit up some 'bitches' in New Orleans, but because I discovered that Overtime isn't going to be released until May. MAY!!! It's only March!!! I have to wait two freaking months!!! Sorry, to repeat myself, but ARRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHH!!!!
As someone who skipped more than a couple of books in this series I do want to give a massive shout out to Toni Aleo! I know that she copped a bit of flak not long ago in a review and she very classily in my opinion made that video in response, but what I want to shout out to her about is that rather than worrying about what the haters out there are saying, she stepped up her game and put her money where her mouth is!!! I don't know if you're adding cement to your coffee, Ms Aleo, but damn, you're abso-freakin-lutely nailing these books these days and between you and Lauren, I now consider myself to be a fan!!!

Well the title of this book, pretty much sums up the book. Hot bearded professional hockey player literally wanted to forget the only woman who got under his skin, heart, mind, and body. His best friend's baby sister, Kacey. Due to a leg injury, Jordie Thomas can do one of two things: Sit at home and be miserable or go to New Orleans and have random hot sex in order to forget about Kacey. And of course, sex and banging hot women was the only option for this hot blooded man. Well, as it turns out, hooking up with random multiple women and sex with one hot doctor didn't help eradicate the feelings he had for Kacey. So the only option for Jordie was to cut ties with Kacey for good...

#1WantingTOForget

This book ends not in the HEA that I would have hoped but thankfully Ms. Aleo will have the continuation of Kacey and Jordie in her next book, Overtime, coming out May 25, 2015. Let's hope Jordie can redeem himself after all the dirty deeds that he did in New Orleans.

I have loved Toni Aleo's Assassins series so far and until I read this I was an absolute fan. So what's wrong with this:
1 it's a dreadful story no HEA, just a whole load of nothing but random shagging no story. Dire
2 dreadful hero (word used advisedly).
3 how random to have his doc to be his friends sister??

Overall the book has really destroyed my passion for Toni and her books. I found it to be disrespectful to her fans. Clearly all this story will need to be rehashed in Jordi's book. So what did I pay for? If it's about whetting the appetite then have it as free?

I'm not a fan of beards I probably would have thought twice about it if I'd known but the cover shows some clean shaven chap! I think if the author wants to keep her fans she needs to have a bit more care and respect. I'm kind of stunned

Toni Aleo totally delivered with this short for Jordie. Wow. It was so honest and true to the character. Nothing was brushed over, we were right there in his head while he attempted to work out his messed up situation. Though it's made me want to read 'Overtime' even more than before.

I absolutely love Jordie. He's my favourite from the Assassins series. This step closer to his HEA was exactly what I needed.

Jordie is a mess! He is trying to recover from his injury so he can play hockey again, and trying to push Kacey away at the same time. It’s sad to see his hurtful method of trying to forget. Even with his difficult family life his actions make it hard to forgive him. Kacy certainly seems to deserve better. I definitely felt all kinds of bad emotions in this one. I look forward to seeing if he can turn it around and gain forgiveness for everything.

Jordie is a professional hockey player trying to forget a woman he has come to care for as he struggles to heal from an injury that is preventing him from playing his sport. He feels that the only way to get this woman out of his mind is to distract himself with others, only it doesn't seem to be working.

I'm not opposed to the premise of this book, but I really didn't connect with Jordie at all. I found his behaviors mostly offensive instead of sexy. I tried to relate to his situation, but still struggled with the way he treated other woman. Again- I didn't have a problem with him using sex as a distraction from his problems, I had a problem with the way he procured it, and the way he acted. I didn't feel much sympathy for him, and didn't find myself feeling one way or another about his romantic success. I haven't read other books in this series, and I'm not sure whether that would have helped me connect with the characters and story more or not.

Jordie really goes about trying to forget the girl he is in love with but pushed away but trying to sleep with anything of the opposite sex. It took Man-Wh**e to a whole new level. Going to NOLA to try and escape his inability to love got out of control fast. He drank too much, got Molly'd and then wound up in the ER where he then hit on the doctor. All the while he kept ignoring the text and phone calls from the woman he supposedly loved. It was pretty hard to take at times and did not endear his character to me at all. I would have a hard time wrapping my mind around him being redeemed enough to be able to come back from this and be in a committed relationship.

You know when I realized this was about Jordie and Kasey I was pissed, mostly because I thought that they were going to be short changed with a short story about their HEA. After reading this one I'm pissed for a whole different reason and it's Jordie. I find myself sort of hating him by the end, hate that he pushed Kasey away, hate that he decided to use other women to help him forget Kasey and hate that I sort of feel sorry for him by the end. Not sure how that last bit happened, nor am I sure if I even want him to have a HEA with Kasey. She could do better!
