Lou burst into tears. "I'm sick and tired of people trying to kill us!"

Wow this book was action packed. I really loved both Lou and Callum. They were so opposite it was funny. Callum was super structured, OCD, and very serious. Lou was funny as hell, playful, sassy, energetic, and chaotic. Them together was so much fun. It was like a chihuahua picking on a big grumpy bear. Even though there was a lot of action in this book there are

As a fan of romantic suspense I’ve read quite a few. Some super addictive, some okay, and others not-so-much, so I’m always excited when I find one that’s really good! Hold Your Breath had me hooked from the beginning, and I plan on gobbling up the rest of the series!

Lou Sparks is a new addition to the Search and Rescue dive-team in a tiny town in Colorado. Even though her team leader, Callum, is tough, stoic and barely cracks a smile, Lou can’t help the big crush she has on him or what a bumbli

I'm really exited about this one.
She ran away to start a new life, to start HER life, with her in control, not her family, not her ex-boyfriend. Lou ran as far as she could, began living a life she never dreamed of and was often like a square peg trying to fit in a round hole, especially as she trained as a rescue diver in the frigid temps of the Rocky Mountains. Her biggest screw ups always seemed to be in front of her instructor, the ever-so-serious and mysterious Callum Cook. His sighs and looks of disgust seemed to tear at ...more

I totally loved this book! Loved Lou. She made me laugh. I wanted to be friends with her. There were so many times she could have been annoying but was not. I absolutely adored Callum in all of his broody OCD glory. He was sweet and unintentionally funny. I loved how much Lou did NOT annoy him. I also throughly it was so cute how he considered them on dates when Lou did not and he was too shy to say anything.

The action was good. Not very complex but enjoyable. I wish it were a little

Louise “Lou” is a woman that has plans to leave her past behind. A bad relationship and a difficult socialite family has all pushed her to truly chase her dreams, dreams of becoming an ice rescue dive team member.

Facing the frigid waters of the Rocky Mountains is serious business but her dive instructor, Callum, knows just how to get her blood boiling. Unfortunately for Callum, he just doesn’t want anyone, especially that spit fire trainee Lou, defrosting his heart.

This series and the characters had a lot of potential but it was never realized in this book. I also found the narrator less than memorable.

Louise “Lou” Sparks moved across the country to assert her independence and build a life helping others. She found work with the Field County Ice Rescue Team where Callum Cook was her supervisor. When Lou found a dead body in the water, along with the tires on her car slashed, she turned to Callum for help.

This book had a steady pace of action and suspense

Such potential.

I needed a little more character and relationship development. It was almost there.

Katie Ruggle gives great danger and action. Lots of stuff going on to hold my interest.

I’m hoping Katie takes her time to develop the characters and relationships as the series moves on.

Action-packed, funny, and sweet, this book is amazing.

Callum Cook is an ex-marine, leader of the search & rescue team, perfectionist, and a little surly. Lou Sparks moved out to the Rockies to escape her controlling ex. She is accident prone, sarcastic, and needing to make it on her own. Lou moved out into the middle of nowhere to prove herself but after things start happening to put her life in jeopardy, she'll learn to rely on Callum without losing her hard won independence. Callum sees Lou as

Gee, I really wanted this to be more. So much potential, but not fully realized. The characters are engaging and the author spends a good amount of time developing them. Lou is funny and absolutely resolute about making it in the search and rescue business. I like her determination. I also think Ms. Ruggle does a good job with Callum, although is a little too stoic for my taste. I am sure he will appeal to others.

The suspense is okay. I did not find it particularly creative or intense

This author’s writing style is really working for me. I love that she fleshes out her characters, making them multi-layered and dimensional. They become more relatable and likable. Lou and Callum were awesome together and they lived up to my expectations. I received an ARC for book 4 a while back and fell in love with that couple but the previous couples made a pretty huge impression on me and I’ve been planning to read this series in its entirety for a while. So when I went to the bookstore and ...more

Katie Ruggle brings her reader romance, suspense, drama and action in the first full-length novel in her Search and Rescue series.

"I just want to add a little chaos to your life."

We met search and rescue team leader, Callum Cook and new-girl Lou Sparks in the introductory novella On His Watch and there was definitely something brewing there. Hold Your Breath is a three-pronged attack in terms of storyline and not only do we see their feelings for one another grow, but there is the

Katie Ruggle is yet another new-to-me author (Can you tell I’m loving trying out new authors right now?). To be honest, it was the covers that caught my interest with these series. But once I read the blurb and the premise of this series, I knew that these books would definitely be my kind of thing.

Set in the remote Rocky Mountains, this series will follow the Search & Rescue crew as they save lives or in this case, try to solve a murder when a body start showing up in the water. I
This story was really good. It held my interest from page one, never getting boring. I loved the Heroine, she was a strong woman with a great sense of humor. And I liked her with the Hero.

The story ends in a cliffhanger, so there's no epilogue. It's a happy end for now with the next book featuring a new couple. So the ending fell flat for me. I just hoped for more.

I would've given the book 5 stars if there would've been more romance. The relationship between the Hero and Heroine grows really fas

Nice to read some really intense action sequences. The ending felt really abrupt, but that could have more to do with the dozens of pages left after the story actually ended. I do feel like there was a giant unresolved issue with a certain someone disappearing awfully abruptly. Still, great read. New to me author, will def continue this series.

Coffee Dates with Hold Your Breath

First Date: I loved the Colorado setting from the mountains to the quaint town. The delightful narrations from Rachel Dulude quickly made me familiar with our heroine Louise "Lou" Sparks and her Resue Team Captain Callum Cook. On this first date, we learn a little about Lou's past and her new position on Field County's Ice Resue Dive Team. The team is going through a training exercise on the lake when Lou discovers a dead body in the water. Lou is inquisitive, a

Review: Admittedly, the novella which introduced the series didn't really win me over but this first full length novel completely made me a fan.

This book focuses heavily on the whodunnit element and the romance slowburns away in the background which is a really nice change of pace. I've read loads of 'insta-love' romances recently and it wa

Mystery, romance, suspense and who done it’s abound in this great read.

Lou moves to a remote rocky mountain town to get away from her family. After becoming a member of the search and rescue team, she finds her fit and proves to herself she can do what she wants and take care of herself. So after doing a regular training session, Lou kicks up a dead guy that leads her on a mission of her own to try and find out who this mysterious man is.

3.5 stars - Not bad. I discovered that Katie Ruggle is also Katie Allen, an author I like, so I thought I'd check out her new series - I really liked this first book, and am currently getting ready to read book 2. I was very excited to try this new series by a new to me author primarily because of the setting- mountain search & rescue work. And it wasn't just the common police and fire, but dive rescue team, too. It was new and exciting all around when paired with the romance and the suspense. I enjoyed the author's easy blend of quirky humor, adorable heartwarming, rising heat, tightening suspense, and taut action.

As noted above, this is a launch of a new series, but I did want to point out that there is

This was a pretty good story. I had some mixed feelings about the story because the story was really good but there were a few points of annoyance/WTF moments that caused my opinion to waver a bit. It ended well though so my overall rating stands. :)

Lou is a barista that volunteers for the Field County's ice rescue dive team. She grew up in an uptight family with parents that wanted her subservient and willing to marry her step-father's second-in-command with no thought of what she wa

Lord, this book almost gave me a heart attack in the best way possible. With non-stop action and suspense, this book had me on my toes the entire time! I was completely captivated by the mystery, characters, and romance. I legitimately could not stop reading this book! This was one of the most exciting books I have read in a long time, and it was awesome.

The romance in Hold Your Breath was a slow burning relationship that I adored. There was something so addictive about the relationship betw
Loved the heroine. Loved the hero. Liked the story. Great chemistry. The book had a nice flow. Safe.

Where is my epilogue?
Where are hero's thoughts? I can't believe we didn't once get to 'hear' his side, this annoyed me the most because I think he was crazy about the heroine and it would be sweet to hear his side.
A bit over the top bad guys, especially towards the end.
4.5 Stars. A great read! This is a new-to-me author. I was not disappointed...nothing lacked for me in this story. The writing style was pleasing to me. I loved Lou's banter and Callum's bafflement. The secondary characters were colorful. The suspense to romance mix was perfect for my tastes. There was lots of tension and relationship advancement without lame-ass reasons of why the lead couple couldn't be together. The story was fast paced enough that Louise had to proclaim: "I'm tired of people ...more
